Rivertown Brett T-Shirt Contest
22 ounce bottle from Whole Foods. $5.99. Orange malty body. Brett in nose and in taste. Very brett forward. Nice if not heavy on the malt.

My Bottom Line:
Milk chocolate and nuts plunge into nothingness before ghost pepper heat rises, haunting this strong ale’s lack of malt depth.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam covers the surprisingly pale brown.
-Where is the Russian Imperial Stout in this one exactly?
-Ghost pepper heat is thankfully manageable. Present enough to know what they taste like, yet not completely overbearing. The big bottle needs to be shared with a big group though.
-Alcohol heat is camouflaged by the pepper heat.
-Take out the ghost peppers in here and you’ve got one of the feeblest Imperial Stouts on the market. There are barely any specialty malts in here...

Bottle.

Rivertown Ojos Negros

Rivertown Ville De Rivere Geuze

Rivertown Winter Ale
Light amber, clear, lasting head. Floral, intense nose. Medium full body, smooth texture, intense flavor, low heat and avg carbonation, long palate. Moderately bitter, sweetish, getting drier towards the end, just enough acidity. Malty, complex, very floral, hoppy, molasses and cinammon not so obvious. Intersting, more than great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

on tap @ Vino Belissimo / Lima OH --- Aroma of melon. Clear light amber with lots of rising effervescence, head that quickly disappears, no lace. Taste is light wheat-y malt with strong mango overtones. It moves smoothly through a barely fizzed swallow, then has maybe some hops in a quiet finish. Definitely not sour. Interesting, not mainstream at all.

12 oz bottle in a trade with Matt B. No date coding of any kind. Clear in color gold, plenty of carbonation with lasting head. Aroma is mild at best. Light citrus with subtle floral hops.

The flavor is subtle floral, pine and earty hints. Not offensive or off in anyway. However, it is like many other "session" IPA’s, a watered down shell of what the beer COULD be. I wish I could try this at a higher gravity because this seems like it has some potential.

Aroma - spiced wheat, Boo Berry, lactobillus yeast, and dried white fleshed fruit. Appearance - the body is a Mikado yellow. The head is not large, around 1/4" and white. The head settles straight away. Taste - nice tart splash of blackberries. There is a bit of Boo Berry marshmallow dust like flavor. There is a big dose of lactobillus yeast sour. There is some spiced wheat also present. Palate - body is on the light side of medium, the texture is vinous, the carbonation average, the finish sour/tart and white flesh fruit dry.

An amber color with a white head. The aroma contains some cherries, funk, and citrus with a slight annoying vegetable thing in there. The flavor is a bit milder than most flanders reds but not a horrible US attempt. Some cherries and orange peel in the flavor. I didnt get that veggie nonsense in the flavor thankfully. Overall this is actually not that bad for a gas station pick up.

Tallahassee, Fl - New Leaf Market - 12 oz bottle. Sparkling, medium golden pour, not much of a head. Pleasant aroma of sour watermelon candy. Nice solid pucker essence to the flavor which is reminiscent to the sourness found in watermelon Jolly Rancher candy. light vinegar notes. Mouthfeel has just the right amount of tart puckerness. Pretty decent.

Draft at The Brass Tap - U Square, served in a flight. Pours a totally transparent light gold with no head. No depth of color at all. The watermelon is big and forward, with lime, lemon, cucumber, minerals, some faint vanilla and cheesecloth. Light-bodied, with low carbonation and a tart, refreshing mouthfeel. Has just a hint of the sweet vanilla/cream/vinegar character of their new sours that has been bothering me, but way less so than the others. This is the best of the new bunch.

750 mL bottle shared with Doug. The pour is a nice bright ruby orange color with a thicker bubbly white head and no lace. The aroma is pretty interesting. It's definitely not as sour as I was hoping. There is a lot of fruit and a heavy funk. There is a hint of wine and some nice big fruit notes. I can't really get over the funkiness. The flavor is good. There is a big fruitiness up and a nice wineyness to go with a funky barrel. It's not bad at all. The barrel is throwing me because it's both winey and fruity at the same time. The mouth feel is light and crisp with a decent carbonation and a lingering fruity sour finish. It's good, and definitely not what I was expecting.

Bottle to snifter. Looks solid; a transparent gold with very thin fizzy white head that dissipates into thinner lacing fairly quickly. Smells of watermelon and wheat. Tastes like it smells, but more watermelon rind than fruit, with some tartness alongside a slightly vegetal bitterness from the rind presence. Mouthfeel is medium light-bodied, but lingers a bit. Okay.

Poured from a twelve ounce brown bottle... this sour wheat beer poured out as an amber brew with a tall, rapidly diminishing white head of foam. Tastewise, this seems to be a slight Berlin style sour wheat beer, acceptable but missing the strong, rich body of the German brews of this style.

Draft at Ei8ht Ball, served in a flight. Pours a hazy gold with minimal off-white head that leaves only a bit of lace in the glass. The nose is a bummer - loaded with artificial-seeming sweet notes, like pear candy, sweet cream, and vanilla muddled together with a splash of vinegar and Elmer’s glue. The flavor isn’t bad, with pear, lemon, vinegar, and vanilla. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a tart, sweet mouthfeel with a little acidity and sharpness on the back. No depth or complexity. So sweet and off in the nose.
