Rivertown Death
650ml bottle from the Shell station in Harrison, OH, just west of Cincinnati. Shared across the Buzhardt bunch. Chocolate, cinnamon. Huge cracked black pepper in the back of the throat plus tabasco on the lips. Ultimately the peppers overwhelmed anything else. 12.8

Rivertown Brett T-Shirt Contest
Pours a hazy golden brown on tap with fluffy off-white head that leaves light lace. Aroma of big funky Brett notes over a hint of herbal hops and big sweet maltiness. Taste follows, less hoppy, more malty, big Brett funk. Not bad.

Rivertown Ville De Rivere Geuze
Bottle from a trade like 3 years ago. Lots of funky cheese and spice and pepper and earthy dirtiness. One of the better funky American beers I’ve had in a while. Some fruit, lemon. Banana and baked bread. Really entertaining. I have learned to leave a Brett beer for a couple of years. Does wonders for the complexity. Same here.

Rivertown Kriek
Sample at the OTR Beerfest during Cincinnati Beer Week. Hazy reddish-amber color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily to a film. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of tart fruit, yeast and malt. Medium body with a tart cherry character and notes of yeast and doughy malt in the background. The finish is moderately sour with a lingering cherry aftertaste. Good beer overall.

Rivertown Blueberry Lager
Aroma is a very, very light accent of blueberries. Pours the same color as a light American lager. When it hits your tongue, it has an immediate bitter-ish, bland taste. Not much taste, and the taste that there is is bland. Bland is the best word I can find to describe this beer. After the initial American light lager taste, then you get the blueberry, yogurt-like taste on the back end. That is the best part about this beer. It was also very easy to drink. If you made the slight mistake of buying a six-pack, at least you can finish it quickly.

Bottle from Table and Vine. Pours out a hazy light golden color. Little to no head. Smells and tastes like cider vinegar. Some funky barnyard funk. I need to find something to mix into this otherwise it’s a drain pour.

Distinct candied watermelon nose with tartness following. Cloudy golden pour with quick foam. Mild melon sweetness with moderate sour. Touches of citrus hops. Saline finish a salted watermelon final effect. Good but not quite as effective as 21st Amendment’s watermelon experiments.

Bottle at the RBWG 2015 Grand Tasting. Pours clear yellow with a light, white foam head. Nice tart lemon character, faintly biscuity, with notes of pale bread as well. Light bodied with spritzy carbonation. Clean on the finish, lightly drying, with a touch of bitter lemon rind to go along with the relaxed tartness. Overall, pretty good.

Sample at Rivertown on 6/11/16. Pours clear amber with a medium beige head. Nose of wheat bread and grassy hops. Wheat bread flavor with a crisp hop finish. I’ve had many a wheat beer in my time, but this is the first time (that I can recall) a beer smelling and tasting like wheat bread.

Rivertown Blueberry Lager
Bottle. Pours dark gold with no head--just a few whisps of lace. Medium carbonation. Aromas of yeast, floral notes and blueberries. Upfront flavors of sweet blueberry--not overpowering, but definitely evident. Other flavors are dry grass and slight musty tones. Finishes with a bit of tartness and blueberry. Light, peppery mouthfeel. Not really much going on here.

3.1
Rivertown Roebling Porter
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a thin almost black color with a trace soapy brown head that faded and left no lacing. The aroma was vanilla and brewed coffee. The flavor was vanilla cream, brewed coffee, cocoa and hint of wood and dark fruits. Medium length finish. Medium body and smooth but undercarbonated. Feels like its close to being really good but keeps falling short in every category.

Rivertown Death
My Bottom Line:
Milk chocolate and nuts plunge into nothingness before ghost pepper heat rises, haunting this strong ale’s lack of malt depth.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam covers the surprisingly pale brown.
-Where is the Russian Imperial Stout in this one exactly?
-Ghost pepper heat is thankfully manageable. Present enough to know what they taste like, yet not completely overbearing. The big bottle needs to be shared with a big group though.
-Alcohol heat is camouflaged by the pepper heat.
-Take out the ghost peppers in here and you’ve got one of the feeblest Imperial Stouts on the market. There are barely any specialty malts in here...

Bottle.

Rivertown Ojos Negros

Rivertown Ville De Rivere Geuze

Light amber, clear, lasting head. Floral, intense nose. Medium full body, smooth texture, intense flavor, low heat and avg carbonation, long palate. Moderately bitter, sweetish, getting drier towards the end, just enough acidity. Malty, complex, very floral, hoppy, molasses and cinammon not so obvious. Intersting, more than great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

on tap @ Vino Belissimo / Lima OH --- Aroma of melon. Clear light amber with lots of rising effervescence, head that quickly disappears, no lace. Taste is light wheat-y malt with strong mango overtones. It moves smoothly through a barely fizzed swallow, then has maybe some hops in a quiet finish. Definitely not sour. Interesting, not mainstream at all.

12 oz bottle in a trade with Matt B. No date coding of any kind. Clear in color gold, plenty of carbonation with lasting head. Aroma is mild at best. Light citrus with subtle floral hops.

The flavor is subtle floral, pine and earty hints. Not offensive or off in anyway. However, it is like many other "session" IPA’s, a watered down shell of what the beer COULD be. I wish I could try this at a higher gravity because this seems like it has some potential.
