Blue Diamond Brewing Company Reviews

Fricks’ Hunters Select Premium Light Beer 2.3
Can from Grocery Outlet. Light yellow in color. Lightly sweet malty/grain nose with a touch of cardboard and apple. Sweet cardboard flavor up front with a bit of graininess. Drinkable when ice cold.

Fricks’ Hunters Select Premium Light Beer 4.1
A craft-light beer from Monroe Wi, not Blue Diamond as selected. The can says ’Blue Diamond....Monroe WI" which is likely the Minhas Craft Brewery who makes many other fine beers, and coincidentally, the Kirkland Signature LIght Beer as well. I like the brewer’s sense of humor, that is, all the gourmet craft beers at Minhas leave this beer in the dust, yet none of these epicurean brew’s can boast of ’orange target rings’ on the side of the container, which makes this beer fit for the likes of any wanna-be-Rambo (or Rambo himself). The numbers say it all: 4.2 ABV, 95 Calories, 3.5g carbs. This beer is an ultra-light rivaling the best at efficiency. The bonus is that I would rate its taste as the best-in-class, rivaling Milwaukee’s Best LIght in independent double blind taste tests. And, by the way, Michelob Ultra consistently ranks lowest for me in taste & enjoyment, despite its marketing appeal. Yesterday and today, the temps were over 100 degrees here, and these are the days of summer that want of very cold tasty won’t-slow-you-down beer. I would rename this beer from ’Hunters Select’ to ’Good2Go.’ It does what it’s meant to, and the taste is welcoming and fresh. Now, how ’bout keep the numbers and make a hoppy version: and name the beer ’Hop2It’ :)

Brewers Cave Golden Caramel Lager 2
Not a fan of this one. Medium bodied with a slick mouthfeel. Caramel flavor is mellow but there is a metallic aftertaste.

Brewers Cave Golden Caramel Lager 2
Coloring is very light, considering what they’re going for. I thought the carmel in the name would contribute more to the taste, but nothing. No nose. Move on.

Blue Diamond Light 2.7
Clear, pale gold pour with a white head. It has a light malt aroma with some faint hops. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation. The taste is a little bland with a metallic finish.

Brewers Cave Golden Caramel Lager 1.9
Pours a clear dark amber. Thin white head. Aroma is very very mild... a bit of caramel, but hardly worth mentioning. Flavor is little more than water but with an unpleasant after taste. Very thin too.

Brewers Cave Roasted Black Barley Ale 2.2
Pours a clear dark amber. Nearly nonexistant head. Aroma is pretty malty but bland. Flavor is not too pleasant at all. A bit astringent, but not from the hops (which are nearly impossible to detect.)

Brewers Cave Golden Caramel Lager 1.4
smells a bit like a banana cooked in rum. very sweet. ok mouthfeel, small bubbles. does have a sour veggie garbage taste at the end. nothing as far as hops i can figure out. bought at discount grocery. should have left it there.

Brewers Cave Golden Caramel Lager 1.5
Bottle from a discount grocery. Pours amber with an ok creamy/bubbly off-white head. Smells malty with a light touch of herb/spice. Near medium body. Flavor is a bit spicey, but somehow it is just awful. A bit sweet; a bit metallic. My mouth does not like this.

Brewers Cave Roasted Black Barley Ale 2.3
picked it up very cheap. *gulp* worth trying at least once? pours brownish with a small but tight off white head. aroma is nutty, light toffee/caramel, some grainy ’generic beer’ aroma as well. Thin bodied. Slightly astringent soapy taste. light roasted malt. some nuttiness again.

Brewers Cave Roasted Black Barley Ale 2.2
Dark reddish pour with an off white head. Aroma is husky, light toffee, some chemicals. Flavor is husky malt, peanut shells, odd chemical bitterness. Not sure what happened here. Pretty horrible.

Brewers Cave Golden Caramel Lager 1.2
From 12-oz bottle pours a semi-clear dark amber colored brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring. Aroma of caramel malt, mild citrus hops and a hint of butter. Taste is slightly sour, light bodied with cereal grain, a touch of Brazilian nuts, and rye. Finish is metallic, gritty with a sour malt aftertaste that was very difficult to finish. Drain pour! I can’t believe I still had a bottle of this in my cellar. No, strike that. I can not believe I paid for this bottle to try.

Brewers Cave Golden Caramel Lager 2.1
[Bottle] Pours a even brown color with a quickly receding tan head. Aroma of sweet caramel and cereal grains. Mainly stale, sweet caramel malts in the flavor. Something seems sour in the aftertaste. Lingering sweet notes in the finish as well. One dimensional and quite frankly boring. I bought a bottle of this in Oklahoma, so apparently they found somewhere to sell it.

Brewers Cave Golden Caramel Lager 2.5
Cloudy brownish pour, low head, no lacing. Sourish, sweet aroma. Caramel taste, unsurprisingly, with strange sour undertones. Medium mouthfeel. Not bad, was expecting a little more from this unusual style

Brewers Cave Golden Caramel Lager 2.1
12 oz bottle. Pours a light caramel/gold color with a white head with sub-par retention and an almost total lack of lacing. Aroma is a caramel scent with a indescribable smell at the end. It’s nothing terrible but it doesn’t do the beer any favors. Flavor is light caramel flavor with a slight off taste I can’t quite put my finger on. Not the best beer I have ever had. However, it’s not the worst I have had either. If you get a chance, try it...if you want.

Brewers Cave Golden Caramel Lager 2.4
Now I wonder how old these bottles are. No dates. It pours golden honey caramel color with virtually no head. Mild buttery caramel aroma with a little skunk. The flavor is pretty well balanced, although subtle hop bitterness takes over. It finishes a bit sweet and sour. The palate is a bit thin, but that could be contributed to age. Not bad.

Brewers Cave Golden Caramel Lager 2.3
12 oz. bottle. You cannot imagine how low my expectations were when I saw this was brewed by Blue Diamond Brewing. Thankfully they were exceeded. Honey gold and no head. Sweet aroma that was kinda skunky—the funk was like rotten cranberry. Taste is much better than the aroma. Much, much better. Sweet caramel flavor that was somewhat artificial. Finish is smooth although a little too sweet. I’d drink it again (although that doesn’t say much).

Blue Diamond Premium Beer 1.6
Can from me Thanks to me for going out of my way to find this diamond in the rough. Har, har.
Pours typical macro-thin yellow with a quickly fading head of ivory. Pleasant aroma of honey and slight raspberry. The positives end there... Watery hops that spent their summer in the sun. Dry, stale, and lifeless. Watery mouthfeel. Thank goodness I found this as a single at Spec’s.

Brewers Cave Golden Caramel Lager 1.2
Light caramel in the aroma and flavor. Just a little sweet. Orange color. Very light overall and little going on. It is always sad when a brewer goes out of business, but whoever was making this was not even trying.

Brewers Cave Golden Caramel Lager 2
Well somebody is making this crap again. Copper color with no head. Butterscotch aroma and taste with a little caramel sweetness on the end. It’s not quite death from below, but nothing I’d ever force upon someone.

Brewers Cave Golden Caramel Lager 1.9
Pours a totally clear orangish amber with an absolutely non existant head. Nose is of sweet malt, grassy biscuit and a slight window cleaner smell. Light carbpnation with a highly soapy sweet flavor. Very minimal flavor outside of wet. This is better than your average BMC, and at the same price a good transition beer choice, but I’ll pass next time.

Brewers Cave Golden Caramel Lager 1.8
Obviously no longer a retired beer--I just had this on tap at the Wabasha Caves. But it should have stayed retired. Served cold, this had a nice smooth mouthfeel (sticky though not especially sweet) and it was rather clean of any obvious off-flavors, but there was really nothing there, sip after sip. Caramel? Barely. Golden? Yes, a golden lager, a la Michelob. That’s about it. (on tap at the Wabasha Caves)

Brewers Cave Golden Caramel Lager 1.8
Pours a clear light copper color, topped by half an inch of white foam. Okay head retention and lacing. Sicky sweet aroma - caramel and some kind of alcohol like aftershave lotion. Not pleasant at all. Tastes okay I suppose. Caramel malt, candy corn, and some dry cereal grain. No hop presence. Thankfully none of that alcohol-aftershave flavor. Medium body, very light carbonation makes it seem thicker than it really is.

Blue Diamond Premium Beer 3
call me "dirty stinkin ape" but this got me up in the jim-jams...i liked it, nothing to worry about, its cold, refrshing, has a nice back taste, and for 6 for 12...dude, "sometimes you eat the bar and sometimes the bar eats you" ..i won on this roll.

Blue Diamond Light 2
Light yellow color and fizzy head. Aroma is very light soured grains. Wheat was the surprising taste, but stale malt washed over that. Not the most offensive thing one can drink.

Blue Diamond Premium Beer 1.6
Gold Coloring. Pains me to Say, but the Light Was Easier to Drink. Corny and Light Malt Aroma and Flavor. Pretty Harsh.

Blue Diamond Light 1.8
Gold Coloring. Smells and Tastes Strikingly Similiar to Pabst Blue Ribbon. Crisp with a Bit of an Odd Malt Aftertaste. Wouldn’t Want to Do a Case of This.

Blue Diamond Premium Beer 1.6
Omg i think i prefer the light over this, golden color, small white head that had a short life then faded to nothingness. The armoa was corny and semi sweet with a light maltiness. The flavor was just slightly stronger then the light version with just a bit more maltiness and the hops are still faint.not enough to off set the sweet side of this brew but still it could be a decent lawnmower brew just for the ease of drinking. It’s worth a try atleast once but after that your on your own.

Blue Diamond Light 2.2
Nice golden color, small foamy whitye head that actually had a decent hang time for swill.Lightly malty aroma with a slight corny side and a very faint hint of hops in the background.kind of sweet and watery tasting with a faint hint of hops in the end but mainly the brew is ruled by sweetness. Not real terrible in fact it is a fine lawnmower brew but for quaffability it’s not there at all,but 2.99/12 pack you can’t go wrong eather. It’s worth a try but mainly for those nights when you don’t care what you imbibe.

Blue Diamond Premium Beer 1.6
Oh man is this a "special" beer... light yellow color. This thing is like drinking in incredibly diluted corn smoothie. Woof.

Blue Diamond Premium Beer 1.3
Wouldn’t drink again. Ok well if it were free. Light yellow in color with a stale fruity taste. A zing in the palate but not to it’s favor. All white head about half inch disappears fast. Very carbonated.

Blue Diamond Premium Beer 1.7
Bought at a Cirkle K after work. Clear yellow color with white head that disapated. Carbination was good. Tasted watery, not bad if you need beer fill for the frige or something before bed that is not to harsh.

Blue Diamond Premium Beer 1.2
Can poured yellow with fast disipating white head. Heavy aroma of corn. Flavor was of corn with a very heavy taste of metal left on the palate. For what it’s worth, the Blue Diamond light was much better!

Blue Diamond Light 1.9
Turbo gave me a can of this beer to try. Yellow light beer that went good with the chicken wings I had for dinner. Low carbination as there were no particles floating to the top and the flat head.

Blue Diamond Light 1.2
Found this at the local Circle K for $5.99 for 12 cans. Poured yellow with a good foamy head that faded fast. Aroma of light corn. Flavor is not bad at all, especially for a light beer. Easy drinking and no bad aftertaste. I could drink a lot of these on a hot Arizona day...and fast!

Blue Diamond Premium Beer 1.3
Some aroma of hops. Clear yellow color. Bitter taste with a small bite, also a strange chemical taste. Very cheap beer, but drinkable.

Blue Diamond Premium Beer 0.7
I once drank this at a frat party when it was all they had. It was in cans so I can’t properly judge the appearance, but I’m assuming that looked as bad as it tasted. The flavor made me want to choke, I’ve only turned my back on one beer ever and this wasn’t it, but it was close. UPDATE: At thos point I wonder, why did I finish at all? What was wrong with me? Probably the same thing that made me try to dance with my chick at the time, since I have no rhythm. Wow, this was a few years ago, but if it happened today, I’d be impressed that a frat party actually had something new to me, no matter how bad it was.

Blue Diamond Premium Beer 2.5
yes, iceman i remember that faitful day, wasn’t it before we did some homebrewing? Its a decent beer real cheap and better then the other beer in the bargan cooler.

Blue Diamond Premium Beer 2.6
Not all that great , but better than the natural light and milwaukees best beers. The cool thing is that they don’t advertise at all. Since they don’t advertise they sell this at incredibally low prices. Its really hard to find. The only time I saw it was part of a massive case-amid in the isle of the store. By no means is this a good beer, but if your low on the cash and want something cheap that tastes better than beast, natty or hamms- this’ll do the trick.
