Lavery Belfast Black 3.7
Bottle--thanks, Thomas! Smoky sweet toasted hazelnut, vanilla, and faint mocha and some zesty hops. Clear but almost opaque garnet-black under a lasting, light brown flannel blanket. Sweet toasted hazelnut flavour with bitter dark chocolate and transcendent smoke that is not phenolic. Slightly spicy. Medium full body, medium high carbonation, smooth.

Lavery Devil Bird Holiday Ale 2011 3.9
I had the 2015 version on tap at the taproom. This is a dark beer with a creamy beige head. Warming bourbon nose with some roasted grain notes. This drinks much lighter than the claimed 9.1%. Nice bourbon, oak, vanilla and dark ripe fruit flavors with a hint of charred wood. Simple for a barrel aged beer but very effective.

Lavery Liopard Oir - Tequila Barrel 3.3

Lavery Ulster Breakfast Stout 3.6
Sampled on draft at Social this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy dark brown head that lingered and left excellent lacing. The aroma was dry, roasty, biter and had notes of floral hops, coffee and vanilla. The flavor was bitter, toasty, very malty and had strong notes of coffee and vanilla. Very long coffee and vanilla finish. Moderately full bodied. Solid.

Lavery Belfast Black 3.3
Apparently some of these bottles are gushers but I had no such problem. Pours viscous and pitch black with a half finger beige head that immediately settles into a thin ring. Minimal spotty lacing. Smokey dark malt aroma with subtle hints of charcoal, campfire and smoked meat followed by toast and roasted coffee bean. Decent smoke character but not overwhelming with sweet molasses, dark chocolate and toffee notes balancing things out. Medium bodied with a subtle smoke character that isnít nearly as strong as the nose suggests with lots of sweetness balancing things out. Slightly dry and acrid with some charcoal and burnt malt flavor countered by dark fruit, chocolate cake, oatmeal and coffee bean. Pretty clean until the finish which is very dry and earthy. Decently balanced and drinkable but has a bit tamer smoke character than I prefer.

Lavery Devil Bird Holiday Ale 2011 3.7
25.4 oz bottle. Opaque dark brown tone with way too much foam. Sugary bourbon & porter nose. Taste was not as sweet: Bakerís chocolate, oak ashes, leafy/grassy/fried floral notes and a mix of char/roast/dark malts. Full body and medium carbonation.

Lavery Madra Allta IPA 3.5
[Bottle (12oz)] Pours a dark cloudy golden-orange with an average size lasting frothy off-white head. Some minimal lacing. Aroma of piney and spicy hops along with bready malt. Piney and resiny flavour, a bit fruity and bready as well. Bitter finish. Medium bodied. Odd choice of hops to me, not great, just pretty good.

Nice. Smells sweeter than it is. Has sugar and spice on the aroma and the spice comes through well and separates itself out on the palate. This is pretty good. I would get it again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Lavery The Devilís Darkside 3.4
Black pour, beige head with light lacing .... aroma of pumpkin spices the usual suspects, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and allspice, dark roasted malts and chocolate ..... taste is of pumpkin spices, dark roasted malts, some earthy notes and light chocolate ... mouthfeel is thin and a little oily .... body is light and carbonation is soft .... finishes with a light bitter/spicy bite .... this is a very easy drinking pumpkin stout, kind of drinks more like a porter body wise

Lavery The Devilís Darkside 3.7
Poured from the tap into a pint glass at Tommyís Pizza in Gettysburg, PA. This beer is a dark golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma has a faint pumpkin and spice smell that blends with the hop notes. The flavor was really good and it was a moderate pumpkin flavor that was not overpowered by spices or hops.

Lavery Dulachan IPA 3.3
Bottle. Body is a murky hold with a tan/brown edge to it and carries little head. Aromas are pretty bland... A bit of grain, metal, lemon and soap. Flavor is similarly drab. Some silo dust and skunky/herbal hops that have a slightly citrus edge to them if I am feeling generous. Itís a grainy beer with a grainy finish and wouldnít qualify as an IPA if I were in control of the universe.

Taste is of coffee, roasted malts, caramel malts and a bit touch milk sugar .... Has a light bitter bite in the finish along with a lingering sugar .... Has an oily and slightly slick mouthfeel .... If only the milk sugar was toned down a bit

Lavery Dulachan IPA 1.2
$3 bottle from vintage. Looks slight haze on a palish beer. Smell like dull hops. Experience is big dull hop ipa happy mouth coating viscous bitter bigot. Bitchy bastard thick soapy nasty terribly on style ipa. Seems to be far from brightly & fresh. Whew. Terribly on style to the extreme, border on double. Ruined my taste buds fer a while. Yea, imperial level taste with ipa level alky. However, make no mistake, this is not a session by any standard fer sure. Itís juts a big in yer face offensive IPA. Boorishly rude; if you like an ipa with chewing green grapefruit rind bitter rubbery hops, you got it, what else can be said? Yes, quite an impact. Did I say wew or was it whew?
