Color miel, turbia.

Seca, bebible y diferente. No esta mal.

Keks La Bianyenca Red Ale
Bottle 33 cl from Can Rubies - El Port de la Selva (SP). Red beer with a huge foam, endless and numerous floats. Malted beer with yeast and grassy bitterness. Bitter-sweet with floral notes and hints of orange and a roundness a little fat. Leash on the lips as a sea spray.

Keks Cervesa amb cafè, llet i cacau
(33 cl bottle from Casa Evaristo; Date on bottle says 17/07/13; L161) Pours black with huge, frothy tan head. Aroma is wet cloth and candy. Oily texture, medium carbonation, medium body and a sweet finish. Flavour is rather weird for a dark beer that is not a black IPA: I don’t get much roasted malt, coffee or licorice. It’s more some kind of swiss, herbal candy with a mix of sweet, acidic and herbal notes. Rather strange.

Keks L'Enxaneta amb Petals de Flors i Fruites
Bottle, courtesy of StoreMy, thanks man! :-) Gusher! When settled, a hazy watery-light amber body with a massive, frothy off-white head is revealed, not very elegant... Aroma is overripe fruits, home-made fruit wine or juice concentrate, plums, white sugar and hints of wheat and cereals in the back. Taste is fruit salts, overripe fruits, red berries, grains and hints of flowers and bitter herbs. Watery and over-carbonated, with flavors scattered all over the place. Pretty bad.

Keks L'Enxaneta amb Clau i Taronja
Bottle, courtesy of StoreMy, thanks man! :-) Slow gusher, eventually revealing a slightly hazy copper-hued amber body with a massive, rocky off-white head. Nose is clove, yeasty tones, bitter herbs, orange zest and hints of wet grass and sugary wheat tones. Taste is sweet caramel, orange-citric zest tones, bitter herbs, grainy cereals and hints of wet grass. Light to medium body, fizzy carbonation. This could have been a rather interesting beer, if it wasn’t for the over-carbonation and the mashed up, no-balance flavors which are spread all over the place like a puzzle game wiped off a table.

Keks Cervesa de Fajol
Champagne blonde with fluffy white froth that leaves the odd trail. Floral grain and Murietta biscuit nose – light but pleasant. Rusk and lemon barley water with some grass. Floral notes come out as it warms. Grain and lemon peel finish, tingly herbal linger. Light, thin, crisp, creamy. A wit beer clone, essentially, but with buckwheat and oats instead of wheat. Watery; at 3.5%, that’s hard to avoid. Sharp, not sure what the buckwheat gives besides a bit of grit, and not catching any orange peel or coriander. Still an effective low alcohol quencher and would match lots of foods.

Keks Cervesa de Fajol
Bottle. It pours an almost clear body, amber in color, and topped by a creamy, small beige head. The aroma has caramel and overripe fruits, some orange and roasted notes. Fruity and roasted flavor with caramel. Lacking on bitterness, both initially and in the end. Medium body. A quite decent beer, but certainly very strange, in a way I struggle to put words on. 110826

Keks Cervesa de Fajol Negra
33cl. bottle from a local gourmet shop. It pours a not entirely clear dark brown liquid (with some ruby and amber tones) with a small dissipating but somehow lasting white-beige head that leaves no lacing. The aroma is mild, resembling watered down coffee, with some wineous character, a little chocolate and roasted malts. It tastes likewise, a little nutty and distant hints of dark fruits, but again a little watery. It is low-medium sweet and bitter, and low in sourness. In the mouth it feels mildly carbonated, smooth, watery, with a light body and an abrupt dry and a little bitter-sweet finish, with a distant aftertaste of roasted malts. Presentation is smart (it lacks a customized crown cap, though) for a border-line stout: original, drinkable, but lacking character and palate. The ratafia (sweet nut liqueur) is hard to notice.

Keks La Brava
33cl. bottle from a local gourmet shop. It pours a hazy golden liquid with some floating yeast spots and a medium white lasting head, slightly tainted by the deposit, that leaves little lacing. The aroma is herbal and grainy, with a touch of yeast and a little citron. It also has hints of straw and distant notes of peach. It tastes likewise, mildly spiced; simple but nice and refreshing. It is low in sweetness and has a very slight sour touch, and almost no bitterness. In the mouth it feels pleasant, mediumly carbonated, with little bubbles getting a bit lively, oily and smooth, ending dry with an aftertaste of citron, straw and mild herbs. Presentation is average (and it lacks a customized crown cap) for a simple but nicely flavoured rice beer.

Keks La Bianyenca Rossa Ale
33cl. bottle from a local gourmet shop. It pours a cloudy golden liquid with some light coloured tiny yeast spots and a small bubbly white head that lasts throughout the beer with a little consistency but leaves almost no lacing. The aroma is quite light, with hints of mild floral hops, citron, yeast (quite a lot) and cereals. It tastes likewise, but intenser, the flavour far more complete, with additional notes of pine and a fruitier character (peach), along with a very distant touch of caramel. It is low-medium sweet and bitter, and a little sour. In the mouth it feels above the average in carbonation (nice, though), oily, with a medium body and a long dry finish, with a quite bitter aftertaste of cereals, spices and herbs mostly. Presentation is quite original, with an old picture of the brewer’s mother in the label (it lacks a customized crown cap, though). Weak nose, but a decent blond beer, more complex than it seems at first.

Keks La Bianyenca Red Ale
33cl. bottle gifted by my father-in-law, from a gourmet boutique. It pours an odd hazy amber-brownish coloured liquid, with some big brownish yeast spots, and with a small white bubbly head (little bubbles) that lasts throughout the beer but leaves almost no lacing. The aroma is hoppy, a little yeasty and lightly minty (cardamom), with hints of herbs, fresh mint and a distant fruitiness. There is also an interesting coffee grain touch (that mixed with the mint reminds of licorice). It tastes likewise, fruitier I’d say, and with more notorious herbal hops and yeast. It is lowly sweet, with some sourness and bitterness. It is a very refreshing brew with the mint and the fruit. In the mouth it feels medium bodied, with mild but lively carbonation, ending dry with a minty citrusy (grapefruit) aftertaste. Original brew with a cool vintage presentation (though it lacks a customized crown cap).

Keks Cervesa de Fajol
33cl bottle from a gourmet shop. It pours a cloudy light golden/yellow liquid with a small bubbly white head that dissipates quickly and leaves no lacing. The aroma is grainy, cardboardy, mostly malt with some citrus hints of hops. There is also some yeast and a base of ripe fruit. It tastes odd but better, with a more evident fruitiness in mouth (citron), some spices, wheat and hints of yeast and straw. It is lowly sweet and bitter, with a little sourness too. It is averagedly carbonated, with a medium body and a dry finish. The aftertaste is not entirely pleasant: straw and a little weird sweetness. It has a mild vinegary feel all throughout the beer. Too simple a presentation (and no customised crown cap) for a different but not entirely pleasant craft beer.
