corkyrory66	3.2 The Musketeers Boudelo Grand Cru Bière ambrée de 8 % abv et 25 ebu. Visuel aux reflets châtain roux. Nous sommes suspects dès le nez sur son appellation "grand cru". L'entame enlève tout espoir de parvenir à ce niveau. La longueur peine à donner autre chose qu'une bière caramélisée et un rien épicée. CONCLUSION : je crois que cette appellation grand cru pénalise ce type de bière au lieu de la servir ... (music pairing : High tide, album éponyme de 1970 .. vrai grand cru ) Sunday, April 21, 2024

Deep orange with some yeast and a medium head. bready, wheat biscuit malt, honey, orange, peach, a bit spicy and yeasty. Full, silky body. Ces éléments peuvent justifier un grand cru sur le papier, mais c'est toujours à vérifier .. (avec plaisir !) Visuel aux reflets ambré allant jusqu'à roux clair. Entame avec belles notes de boisé et whisky. Longueur qui assemble le tout avec harmonie et ampleur. CONCLUSION : devant un grand cru nous sommes bien, en effet. Pour ce qui est d'être "deluxe" c'est une appellation superflue .. ou si l'on préfère, en langage commun, un pléonasme .. ou encore, en terminologie de luxe, une périssologie … (music pairing : Free will, album The Tony Caputo tapes de 1971, une musique bluesy très enlevée, ou si l'on veut, du blues deluxe ..) Alengrin	3.1 Troubadour Zestra Musketeers cashing in on the low alcohol hype sweeping the country since several years now, with this 0.3% ABV beer containing lactose and an unspecified 'fruit' - maybe the same fruit extract that went into their milkshake IPA attempt, who knows... Not something I was eager to taste, to be honest, but there you go. Huge, inches thick, densely moussey, cobweb-lacing, beaten egg-white, very firm and stable head towering over a near clear, warm old golden beer with apricot hue and very fine sparkling everywhere. Aroma of freshly cut honey pomelo (I coincidentally ate one last week, hence this overly specific description), brioche bread, mandarin, touch unripe mango, meringue, fresh dough, chalk, pumice, iron (confirmed by the 'hand test'!), dried rosemary, petrichor. Clean, supple onset, sweetish but restrainedly so, with indeed a kind of 'added' fruitiness in a light and artificial, yet non-cloying way - a slight citrusy kind of fruitiness working quite well with the hops, and vague hints of apricot and banana as well; fizzy carbonation, but refinedly so. Slick, bit glueish mouthfeel, not too thin in spite of the near-absence of alcohol, very smooth (no doubt extra 'fullness' and smoothness was added by the lactose), with a soft brioche-bready and dry cookie-ish maltiness under growing hop bitterness, becoming tonic- and grapefruit peel-like in the end, lending extra body to the finish and lasting for a long time. Some of that artificial fruitiness, a bit bubblegummy at this point, survives the hops in the very end, but so does a more annoying chalkiness, which seems to be typical for non-alcoholic beers for some reason. I was expecting worse, to be honest: this is quite tasty and 'beery', all things considered, with a firm bitterness many IPA drinker could potentially enjoy. I can even see myself going for this if for some reason I cannot drink alcohol but do fancy a beer - and I do not normally like non-alcoholic beers, so that says a lot in my case. JorisPPattyn	3.5 Troubadour Magma Kettle Sour Small, receding off-white head; hazy, well-carbonated yellow beer. Intense citrus nose, grapefruit, but also rosewater, mild lactic acid. Sweeter than most IPA's, certainly sour ones, and hence a very restrained acidity. Lactic acid still obvious, citrus, lemon, sour orange, mandoras. In the finish, again rosewater. Longueur qui assemble le tout de façon convaincante CONCLUSION : belle winter qui nous fait aimer l'hiver .. pindolaire	4.2 The Musketeers Bucketlist Series N° 13: Take A Polar Bear Plunge En copa teku, color amarillo ligeramente anaranjado, espuma blanca, abundante , cremosa y duradera. En nariz me recuerda bastante a una belgian blond, notas de levadura, malta, cereal, paja, bizcocho, especias...hay presencia de lúpulo, pero nada que me recuerde a una IPA, y si, como ya he dicho, a una blonde o incluso una strong pale (lo cual reconozco que me encanta). En boca un poquito más de lo mismo percibido por el olfato, el primer trago se siente de entrada amargo y especiado (pimienta, un ligero punto de clavo) y se diluye en notas ligeramente más dulces, donde afloran tonos de malta, cereal, algo de repostería, recuerdo de frutas de hueso, todo ello con la nota amarga y especiada bien mantenida de fondo. Buena presencia tanto de lúpulo como de levadura, el origen Belga de esta cerveza resulta imposible de camuflar. Buena cerveza, interesante y divertida. Tuesday, January 30, 2024

The taste is dry, bitter, woody, bark, warming spice, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, resin, banana loaf, brown butter, toasted brown sugars, earthy, tannin, chocolate bourbons, walnut avs some warming booze with a drying, spicy wood finish.
