Upham Tipster 2.7
Halifax & Calder Beer Festival 2015. Clear golden-blonde coloured. Has a fair hop-malt balance, with the former as its base, and the latter more dominant in taste.

Upham Punter 2.7
Cask pint in the Victoria Station Wetherspoons on 9th Feb 2016. Amber/gold pour, white topping. Strange aroma and taste: blended dry finish with both a semi-sweetness grainy feel and a fruity, earthy, woody twist. Not the best beer I had after Grimsby Town had won at Bromley earlier in the evening.

Upham Punter 3.1
Cask at The Butler in Reading. Dry, earthy, light fruit, woody. Slightly warming, not for me, but did grow on me a bit as it went down.

Upham Winterís TíAle 3.1
Cask at the Rose & Crown, Sandhurst. Chestnut with a tight cream head; sour grainy aroma; sweet and syrupy in the mouth, with a body of sour grains that blends uneasily with a treacly sweetness; and a malty finish. Disappointing.

Upham EPA 2.9
Cask at the Goose, Bracknell. Pale amber with a loose white head; orchard fruit aroma; sour fruity taste; and a cidery finish. Not good - but deserves another try.

Upham Punter 2.1
Cask. Amber colour with a white head. Bready, light body. Finishes dry. I did not like this

Upham Punter 2.7
Cask at The Turks, Reading. Amber, thin white head. Quite fruity, but not enough to overcome the butterscotch. A bit too sweet, although there is a little dryness in the rather grubby finish. Not one Iíd choose again.

Upham Stakes Ale 3
Draught (Regal (JDW), Cambridge)
Woh - this is a time machine! Iím back in the 80s. Every beer tasted like this back then. A dull bitter, undergrowthy and a bit minerally. Not a bitter for me. Not really any brewing flaws, itís just a style that doesnít do it for me.

Upham Sprinter 2.7
Cask at the Rose & Crown, Sandhurst. Straw coloured with a thin white head that leaves lots of lacing; grassy aroma; over sweet, grainy body, with a light grassy bitterness; and a sweet finish. Much too sweet for me.

Upham Stakes Ale 3.2
Pint in the Salt Cot ( JDW) Malty aroma and taste. Slight citrus in the finish. Looks good and as usual for this pub, well kept but nothing much to distinguish it from other beers of this style. In saying that, it was just what I was looking for today.

Upham Punter 3
JDW, Southampton - Admiral. Light and dry but pleasantly fruity. An easy drinking beer with an attractive rough edge. Itís ok, but nothing exciting.

Upham Stakes Ale 3
Tasted this in the Salt Cot, Saltcoats (JDW) on the 21st February 2015. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear tawny in colour with a thin white head. slight malty aroma with warm yeasty bread overtones present. Thin weak mouthfeel and poor lacing. Mixed malts give a mild maltloaf base with hints of berry fruit but too weak to identify. Dusty earthy flavour to the hop prickle giving a weak bitter aftertaste. Finish is malty but rather weak as it runs out of legs - needing more oomph as you would think this was more like a 3.6% instead. A poor session ESB, lacking in body and depth of flavour.

Upham Tipster 1.9
Cask at the Half Moon, Windlesham, 05/03/14. Hazed golden orange with moderate off white spotting and edgework. Nose is thin, tarte fruit, apple skins, off notes, sour dough bread. Taste follows, just about palatable - down the bloody local so I ordered a pint damn it, I had two-thirds, orchard fruits, straw, tarte fruit, diacetyl, bready. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, tarte fruit licks in the close. Meh ! An unintentional sour to accompany their range of twiggy brown nonsense perhaps ? This is my 5th offering from Upham - top rater now íyayí ! The 5 beers average 2.4 ! The best was the one I had bottled, of the other 4, 3 were served in GBG venues - you tell me whoís getting it wrong!
