The hops dominate the malt in the nose, lots of pine and resin almost an earthy note to it. Cloudy dark amber pour with small white foam. The taste too is almost all hops, with some citrus tartness coming through. Medium body with light to medium fizz. Strong bitter finish with notable alcohol burn. Sampled at Pittsburgh Big Pour 2015.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange with a thin white head. Aroma of light fruits, citrus, grapefruit, floral hops. Flavor of bitter hops, floral hops, light malt. Very bitter. The grapefruit adds bitterness, not fruity notes. It is sessionable though. Slightly one-dimensional. 6/4/6/3/12 (3.1/5)

Sampled on draft at the brewery this beer poured a bright yellow-gold color with a medium sized foamy white head that faded quickly and left minimal lacing. The aroma was sourish with fairly strong cherry and a bit of sugar. The flavor was tart and sour with cherries, a sweet yeasty presence and a light touch of hot peppers. Medium length cherry and pepper finish. The pepper notes grow the more you drink. Moderately full bodied. Odd but it worked for me.

Black body, one finger nitro head. The nose is sweet lactose and roast with some light coffee notes. The flavor is slanted towards the lactose, itís quite sweet with a gentle roastiness on the back end. Canít say that I get anything that is reminiscent of wormwood, but then again, how much wormwood have I consumed? Lighter bodied with a thin nitro feel as expected. Quite drinkable really, because the sweetness is from the lactose as opposed to being under fermented. Decent stuff.

Tap bocktown. One of the better IPA Iíve had lately. Clear pale. Neutral mild aroma. Taste starts off somewhat pleasantly fruity, then after a few seconds it kicks your tongue. Quite bitter in the middle. Yes, overall it comes across fresh and presentable. However, that bitter finish never lets you forget its IPA.

This has been one of my favorites, and definitely the best brew Full Pint makes, IMHO, but itís different every year. This is the year of chocolate. Seriously, itís the dominant flavor now. I donít mind a cocoa-brew now and again, but itís disappointing that this previously balanced brew has gone so far in one direction.

Full Pint White Lightning
DATE: April 23, 2016... OCCASION: seeking refreshment after a long day of charity car washing and baseball in the Meadows... GLASSWARE: Victory Rare Vos pint... APPEARANCE: sizzles as it pours a murky, bubbly yellow-blonde body with a rim of uneven of-white froth... AROMA: orange peel and lemon zest, with lightly toasted oats providing a pleasant, inviting aroma... apple and pear may come courtesy of the Northern Brewer hops, as does the wood pulp... PALATE: medium-bodied for a white ale; reasonably vibrant, with enough effervescence to refresh... leaves a slight aftertaste that is bitter and lemony... TASTE: Is the secret spice ginger? Grains of Paradise? Either way, the flavor is lemon, coriander, orange, apple and pear, and a sweetening pepper... the malts are not as pronounced as the label may suggest, but oats and toasted grains give the taste buds much to mull... OVERALL: not going to replace my favored wits, this is a serviceable, sessionable (although the label states 6% ABV) summer evocation... the sum is greater than the weight of its individual parts...

Bottle. Pours a clear gold body with a one finger fizzy white head. The nose is pretty decent, plenty of citrusy and piney hoppiness over a bready malt base. The flavor is fairly bitter and a bit rough up front, Iím not that big of a fan of the hop bill in this one. Itís a little sweeter than I would prefer as well, especially on the finish. Medium bodied and a bit clingy with fizzy carbonation. Not one that fits my preferences within the style.

Rare but a very popular tap round here. This one was at bocktown. Orangy yellow. Almost flat in the presentation. Quite acceptable mild mannered beer from the start. Not real bitter. I liked this. Yes, much better than expected. Probably not a scotch but more like a Scottish. This is no way 10%, perhaps I got the wrong tap? Easy fun higher alky beer I guess, hides the alky well. Drinkable fer sure, I beet beer careful. Nice job! Let me tell you, if this is 10%, its one of the best 10% beers Iíve ever tasted!
