Growler fill (discounted) from Albertsons. Pours out very vibrant, big, full, fluffy head. Aroma is very mild yeasty, Belgian pale. Taste gets a bit sweeter, candy, Sweet-Tart sweet and sour at the same time. No big pucker here, a bit tart, but not overdone. Entry level sour.

Lagunitas Lucky 13
Lucky 13 is in line with the other American Strong Ales made by Lagunitas in that it’s a hop-forward, West Coast approach to the style. Also, it’s excellent, so it has that in common with their other Strong Ales, too. Amber pour with off-white suds. A lot lacing left behind after each sip. Hoppy resin aromatics: woodsy, spicy, zesty, citrusy, and herbaceous. There’s a caremel malt backbone but the flavor definitely sides with citrusy hops. Pineapple, mango, passionfruit, and orange. Very crisp feel. For me, this is the right mix of boozy and bitter. A beautiful example of a catch-all American style.

Surprised that they used the term "chewable flavored vitamins" to describe this beer. Not sure what chewable flavored means, but I get what they were going for and its not a positive flavor in a beer. Aroma was ok. Tart and tangy with sour grains, notes of lemon and yeast. Pour was a hazy medium gold with a thin white film for a head. Taste was slightly tart with yeast and sour grains dominating. Weird off flavor in the finish. The hops actually played well with the lacto and sourness which isn’t easy to do. Nice carbonation. An ok beer but nothing special.

Pours a bright orange color. Aromas of danky hops and honey dominate. Absolutely amazing mouth feel - high gravity thickness. Taste starts candy apple sweet, then bammm the hops hit you. Grapefruit, stone fruit, and a little pine linger on the palate for a good 2+ minutes. Awesome beer!!!!

Faint floral and citrusy aroma. Light, clean, translucent amber with a soft white head. Tastes of pine, citrus, maybe fruit. Very lightly bitter and the bitterness doesn?t linger much. Not very much hop character. Another simple staple.

from a growler into a pint glass. tangy aroma. whiteish color with little head. Mouthfeel is moderate to light and krispy. Taste is sweet tart candy and that damn Lagunitas house yeast that I really don’t like. The good, it’s a solid tangy beer that was well done for what it is, and you can drink a decent amount of it; and unlike most other Lagunitas beers, it wasn’t too sweet. The bad, it’s not amazing, just solid. But I’d drink it again from time to time.

Lagunitas One Hitter Series: Bitter Oats
22 oz from Habits Cig and Beer Store in Salem OR. Cant believe i got this for $4.29. Clear deep yellow beer with a very large thick, bubbly and frothy off white head. Wonderful aromas of toasty oats, malt and sugary resiney hop. Taste the same but with a syrupy alcohol presence. But its not too bad. Mouth feel is fine..but really the alcohol is too much an it gets cloying I enjoyed this for like 5 minutes then it goes down hill fast..my first real downer from Lagunitas.

Aroma is caramel, resin earthy hops. Appearance is orange copper clear with a frothy off white head that lingers. Taste is deep caramel malt followed closely by a firm bitterness. Caramel malt almost roasted, has real depth. Earthy resin-y hops, mint? Palate is medium plus. Alcohol heat is barely there. Overall a nice beer. Malt forward. Malt has big impressive depth but I find myself looking for more from the hops. Still a nice beer but probably wouldn’t buy again.

Lagunitas Aunt Sally
The whole dry-hopped Sour thing going on right now has led to the creation of some delightfully odd brews. Aunt Sally is one of them. It sure doesn’t smell like your typical Sour. Dry-hopping has given this beer a floral, citrusy nose. You’d think this could be any other West Coast ale if you were exposed to this beer in a blind tasting. Er, smelling. The flavor is totally different than what you’d expect. The hops are still assertive but the flavor has a huge sour cherry flavor... as promised. This beer has a texture as dry as an IPA but with the tangy, candy-like flavors of a fruity Sour. One the descriptions Lagunitas has used is chewable vitamins. Weird as it sounds, that’s actually pretty accurate. It’s tastier than it sounds too. This one’s strange, but also really nice.

Pint on tap. Clear burnt orange-golden with a thin cream on top. Nose is resin, citrus zest, caramel and a touch of something sour. Tastes pretty much the same. A nice IPA, but not much of a sour. Light-medium body has a nice balance and medium carbonation.

One of my favorite beers and wish it was available year round. The flavor is first bitter ( like a good IPA) then smooth and a nice pour with a good head. The taste is so smooth you cannot have just one.

This is my lowest-rated beer of all time...by far. Super bitter and hoppy. I could literally barely drink one bottle. Actually I didn’t, having poured the last few ounces out. Giving the remainder to the six pack to a "friend".

Bottle share at CBC Islington as ’Lagunitas Imperial Stout’. Many thanks to Fergus for this one. Black with a big foamy dense brown head, dotted lacing. Aroma is hoisin sauce, Chinese food, chocolatey, slightly sour. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is ash, booze, dark chocolate, finishes salty and dry with booze. Solid example of style but doesn’t stand out from the crowd.

The flavor starts with citrus, tropical fruits, and pineapple. The finish has moderate grapefruit with light-moderate dank hops and mild lemon. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation.

8%ABV. Poured out cloudy amber. 12ºSRM. Nose has sweet ripe citrus, with oranges coming to mind rights away with maybe kumquats. There are sweet malt aromas in the nose. Inviting with some nice pine freshness. Mouthfeel is soapy and thick. Palate is full-bodied with nice toasted malty flavors of barley bread, graham cracker and honey. Hops are spicy with cilatro, parsley, with bitter and mint, I immediately get hyssop on my mind. The hops are just about right considering that the sweet malty, syrupy palate just won’t go away. Finish is still bitter and long, but with a strong plant bitter component. Goes on Favorites List !

Lagunitas The Waldos’ Special Ale
Bright golden orange with a slight hone-finger dense white head and modest lace. Dank juicy hop aromas full of citrus and pine. Grapefruit, mango, orange peel, lemon, tangerine, pineapple, resin and medicinal herbs. Light malt hints of caramel/bread and grains with some yeast. Taste is similar, with big pine resin and citrus up front Solid malt notes of caramel, grains, and cracker emerge to counter the bitter hops, but without the syrups mess the ABV might imply. Full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation, chewy creamy mouthfeel, and a dry finish. Alcohol heat is subtle for 11.5%. Overall: A great juicy explosion of hop tones. Big citrus and pine flavors with a definite 420 scent.

6-pack from the LCBO. Pours a clean amber colour with a big warm cap, great retention and creamy-foamy lacing. Grassy hop aromas with citrus over caramel malts. Sweet malty taste with lots of herbal notes. This Imperial IPA goes down nicely, but it is a little rich in the middle. Thankfully, the finish is lightly dry and helps this.

Lagunitas CitruSinensis Pale Ale
Clean, delicious citrusy aroma. Crystal clear pale yellow with a white head. Lots of juicy lemon/orange citrus in the flavor with a touch of orange juice sweetness to balance the full bodied but not overpowering bitterness. Really nice balance of competing flavors here. A light floral note shows up in the middle along with a soft wheat character. I can’t believe this is almost 8% ABV! It doesn’t seem even close to that by taste as there’s no bite to it, but it’s there nevertheless. Long lasting puckery, juicy citrus and a more green grass bitterness left on the tongue. This is one delicious citrusy IPA! This needs to be a regular or at least a repeating seasonal.

Bottle acquired at Elevated in South Mpls and consumed on ECBT Eve with commonshawn and samadouche. Reddish orange, almost copper in color. Big, bold white head with strong to very strong lacing. Aroma is mostly sweet with a hoppy, pine characteristic present. Taste incorporates plenty of sugars that really serve to balance (and nearly exceed) the hoppy red qualities of the beer. This one is crisp, sweet, and delicious. There is an earthy, almost apple-like feel within this one. Finish mirrors what you’d find in most Lagunitas efforts...nice hop quality. I’m happy to find the Lucky 13 back in the rotation again.

Lagunitas The Waldos’ Special Ale
The Waldo’s Special Ale has a medium, off-white head, a mostly clear, honey-colored appearance, some bubbles, and a bit of lacing left behind. The aroma is of strong, apricot-like hop resin, up front, and background white bread, and a spice, of some sort, maybe. Taste is of those elements, with very intense and profound hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is high medium, and The Waldo’s Special Ale finishes drying and strong. RJT
