This was poured into a becher pint glass. The appearance was a hazy semi-burnt copper color. Sly transparency. Light carbonation is seen rising at a moderate pace. One finger white foamy head quickly dissipates. Moderately messy semi-foamy lacing. The smell started off with subtle sweet peach, dried melon flesh. Subtle brittle bitter citrus rind. White pepper. The flavor brings it all together decently. Semi-dry sweet to spicy aftertaste with a quick dry spicy finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation rides fairly light. White pepper spice hits on the tongue nicely. Overall, as a session IPA, it works, I can see it. Perhaps again.

Aroma of bubblegum, peach, and pineapple; slight clove too. Taste is like smell, but with coriander and more clove in the finish. A faint resin appears in the finish too. An after taste of banana bread.

Lagunitas Imperial Stout

Lagunitas Aunt Sally
Draft at SB. Definitely not a compromise beer, not one that aims to please the largest number of people. I know nothing about it, but there seems to be a clear decision to go for something really, really tart and dry here, with minimal tanginess or extra counterpoint flavors. Pours a clear medium gold with a loose white head that lasts about halfway through the round. Big tart nose, lemony, seems to be dancing up to the edge of plastic-smelling esters without actually crossing over. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Big tart puckery beer right from the attack through the finish; lots of acidic heft and piercing vinegary/lemony presence. Dry cereal underneath. Finishes crisp and walks right off a cliff. I wondered all the way through to the last sip whether I was not enjoying it, or simply not getting used to it, or not getting the point, or what. But I went through it as fast as any other pour, so it definitely never turned me off all the way--though lots of others in the room disliked it for sure.

Bottle pours a hazy yellow orange with a two finger off-white head and good lacing. Smells sweet pine hoppy with lots of yeast. Odd taste, sweet in an apple juice sort of way, aspirin, wheat, and yeast prominent. Mild bitterness. Aftertaste is aspirin yeast. Unimpressive, slightly below average overall.

Lagunitas Imperial Stout is a no-frills Imperial Stout. It’s a rich, malty, full-bodied beer with cocoa, coffee, and roasted malt flavors. The booze is pretty well hidden for a big beer. Bold start and bitter finish. This seems like textbook American Imperial Stout.

Lagunitas Stoopid Wit
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 7/5/2016. Pours hazy golden yellow color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, orange peel, pineapple, mango, papaya, pear, coriander, peppercorn, clove, pine, light banana/bubblegum, wheat, cracker, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/tropical/pine hops, fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and light-moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, orange peel, pineapple, mango, papaya, pear, coriander, peppercorn, clove, light banana/bubblegum, wheat, cracker, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of yeast spiciness and pine/herbal/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange peel, coriander, peppercorn, clove, pine, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/pine hops, fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, with no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderate dryness from bitter/spiciness as well, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, sticky/resinous, and fairly creamy/grainy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.3%. Overall this is an excellent Belgian white IPA! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/pine hops, fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Very similar to Sumpin’ Wild, with added witbier spices and lighter body. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle to sampler. If there is ever a downfall with lagunitas it’s their base and hop presence. It works well with most beers but not so much with this wit. Yellow with white head slight slice on the nose some breadiness. For me the flavor is not a true wit style. I could be wrong but it’s just my opinion. Their base malt doesn’t really work as well on this style. Overall it’s drinkable and refreshing but there are better ones out there.

Golden. Aroma has plenty of citrusy hops, and a bit of spice. Full hoppy flavour, but lacking in malts. Lightly sweet taste with moderate bitterness. Light/medium body. Overall, a pretty good IPA. The ABV is standard for a normal IPA, but due the lack of malt character and body it almost tastes like a session IPA.

Lagunitas Imperial Stout
Ekstrakt: 23% wag.
IBU: 72,45
Butelka: 650 ml
Kolor: Czarny, nieprzejrzysty.
Mamy tutaj delikatną drzewną i śliwkową wędzonkę, intensywny sos sojowy i ciemne owoce.
Solidna słodowa baza i niewielka porcja średniej jakości kawy. Smak jest dość płaski. Odrobina kawy, gorzkiej czekolady. Ponownie lekki torf, paloność i buchnięcie wędzonki. Finisz wybitnie wytrawny, co zazwyczaj odbiera mi radość w degustacji RIS-ów. Goryczka długa, trochę zalegająca. Alkohol dobrze zakamuflowany, ciężkie ciało. Słaby RIS, niestety słaby....:/

Poured from the six pack of bottles, cloudy orange amber. I sought this one out, got it home, chilled it, then was full of disappointment when I found it to just be a wit, you guys have been transcending all the boring styles of beers by adding your signature dank hops to them and making them enjoyable, and then this is what you give me?! It’s a pretty good wit but I don’t live in Belgium where we are looking to be the best of the worst.
