330mL bottle, pours a cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out fresh piney hops with a touch of residual sweetness. Flavour coats the palate in super fresh potent piney hops, with just enough dry biscuity malt to back. A touch of residual sweetness from the hops. Extremely well-crafted hop bomb. Excellent.

500mL bottle, pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out biscuity malt and light citrusy and piney hops, seems a bit faded in the hops. Flavour is clean, with light pine and citrusy hops, with a wet biscuity malt backbone. Clean and well-balanced. Doesnít seem as fresh as possible, but itís quite good.

Amber pour with a decent white head that settles nicely. Malty, citrus and mango aromas. Taste is sweet, malt, then orange and mango cut through, decent amount of bitterness on the finish

Liberty / Hop Federation / Epic / 8 Wired IPA Four the Better
500mL bottle, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma has loads of kiwi upfront, with light piney and citrus fruity hops. Flavour screams out tropical fruits, especially kiwi, maybe a little mango and cantaloupe, and pronounced citrus hops. Despite the fruitiness, it has very low residual sweetness. Excellent.

Not quite sure what this collaboration honours - possibly marble benchtops. Bottle. Bright gold with a fine white head that lasts very well. Aroma of mandarins and kumquats, a little lime, gooseberry, light bread and hay. Nice gently wafty hops, but the hint of quality malt underneath lifts it a fair bit for me. Just medium bodied, no unintegrated alcohol. Quite sweet with mandarins, lime and some honeydew melon over bready malt thatís not quite as rich as suggested by the aroma. I suppose others will like what I found a little too clean. Moderate bitterness with fruity flavours hanging around. Good stuff.

On tap at Beer DeLuxe Melbourne, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out crisp crackery malt and some grassiness. Flavour is crisp and punchy, with grassy hops and crisp crackery malt. Quite a flavourful pilsner, with lots of grassiness on the finish. Very nice.

Liberty Yakima Scarlet
500mL bottle, pours a dark orangey brown with a medium beige head. Aroma smells really yeasty and earthy, with earthy hops. Flavour is along the same lines, with a hugely earthy hop component and lots of dirty yeast. Doesnít seem fully developed or maybe Iíve got an older bottle (no discernible bottling date). Not bad, but not as good as the ratings suggest.

Poured from a stubbie. Pours a delightful gold with some cloudyness, and a light fluffy head that hangs around for most of the drinking. Aroma is citrus, grapefruit and simcoe (?) hops. Taste changes considerably as it warms. Light and fruity when cold, bitter pine dominates as it warms, with some bready malt in there too. Sessionable for an APA, but still complex and enough to keep most hop-heads happy.

Bottle from The Wine Emporium 020516. An even layer of foam covering a golden sunrise coloured beer. The head was full and fluffy and the beer itself threw off aromas of pineapple and grapefruit and a big bold flavour that lads into a big finish.

Bloody disappointing - watery - roasted malt without depth of flavour - two dimensional, no complexity to talk about - only plus was it was smooth and therefore easily necked before moving onto something better. Meh.

Off white head, clear golden body. Strong lemongrass hops to the nose. Tastes a hop bomb, pale malts, dry peels, grapefruit, and finishes to the dry hoppy side on the linoleum floor. Feels strong, and spirited smooth. Overall an APA which is a wannabe-IPA. Take small mouths, and itís enjoyable. [50cl btl abv7% b@Vinmonopolet]

Pours amber. Grapefruit and citrus nose. Lemon. Very fruity flavour. Sweet grapefruit, pineapple, citrus, orange and lemon. Bitter. Some sweetness as well. Medium thick body. A bit oily. Soft carbonation. Could be a bit fresher, but a very, very good IPA.

Liberty Co Alpha Lord Fresh Hop Pilsner
Aroma isnít strong but is dominated by a chemical/herbal/mineral note. Taste full of delicious flavours: ripe banana, orange, fish and chip paper (from a good F&C shop), a bit of grapefruit, and congealed oily dank. The bitterness is legendary. It crashes in at the front in all its metallic glory, persists its way up the middle, and continues through the alcohol twang at the back, completely unscathed and unmitigated by the light, sweet malt. And, for all its good points, it is undermined by the anonymity of the malt (something I normally appreciate).

Right in the zone for an APA. Resin dominates, with a little fruitiness thrown in. Great bitterness and balance. Only 6% so is surprisingly sessionable

Bottle. Bright amber with a fluffy white head that lasts well. Aroma of grapefruit, kumquats, mango skin, bread crusts. Moderate peachy and bready sweetness, citrus and some woody and spicy hop aromatics that are integrated into rather than jump out of the beer. Dryish, moderately bitter finish. Good. [edit: not that it makes any difference but I assumed this was an APA.]

Liberty / Brothers Oh Brother Pale Ale
Bottle, 10C. Clear gold with a puffy white head. Aroma of passionfruit, lime, mandarins, biscuit. Quite sweet but floral and zesty hop notes are perhaps more prominent than expected. Doesnít dry out a whole lot and bitterness is moderate. The malt side of things doesnít do much for me except get in the way.

Bottle. Pale gold with a large white head that laces spectacularly. Grassy aroma with preserved lemon, light spices, berries, crackers. More gooseberry in the taste along with cut grass. Just a little bready but fairly dry with fruit giving way to spices at the moderately bitter finish. I would have liked it to be a little less refined, but itís pretty good.

Iím a big Liberty fan, but I dislike Pils, so this rating is more of a public service announcement for hop heads who love Liberty Knife Party and similar IPAs. Donít let Libertyís reputation, or the use of Imperial or Fresh Hops on the label distract you. This is a sweet and sulphurous pils (as most are IMHO), so be warned.

American strong ale isnít my favourite style so a pleasant surprise to find this is more an IPA to my palate - no doubt about the quality from go to whoa - strong malt impact then super-hoppy thrust - herbal, piney at first then powerful apricot - lovely bitter finish - alcohol invisible - oh yeah, I like it.

Bottle. Golden amber with a white head. Aroma of mandarins, melons, hay, some mango skin, hint of pine. Sweet and fairly plain pale malt with lots of fruit - citrus, some stone and tropical - and some pine at the end. Dries out with solid bitterness. Not very exciting but a very nicely balanced IPA.

Slightly cloudy amber pour with medium head. The hops bring a unique smell and bitterness which may border on being an acquired taste for some. I donít mind. Cool label too.

Pours a slightly hazy mango-gold, creamy finger of head, nice lacing. Strong tropical and floral aroma opening up to reveal a dominant pine. The taste is pine but clean rather than dank, mango, grapefruit, good malt flavour. The body is big for an APA, really pushing IPA with the complexity in flavour of a bigger beer. But itís still light enough to put away quickly, nicely carbonated and spiky hop finishing. No idea of the date on this, tasted reasonably fresh and packs a wallop for the style.

Liberty Citra Double IPA
Pours a slightly hazy orange-gold with a sticky half-finger of white head. Big tropical and citrus aroma, pineapple, lychee, mango, orange. The flavour is all these things plus a moderately assertive hop bite not detectable in the nose. The body is medium and goes for the citrusy juicy feel over a malty one, making it drink like an IPA. A stellar delicious drink.

From a 500ml bottle on 28/2/2016 (shared with Butz). Pours a medium golden with the barest of heads. The nose is bery fruity - lots of orange and mandarin . The flavour features lots of mandarin for mine, with some tropical and stone fruit in the mix as well.. Sweet but has a nice citrus hop kick. Full bodied with average carbonation. A nice fruity IPA.

Sensational ipa! Pours golden with decent foam. Do yourself a favour and put your nose right in this beer and take a huge breath in. You'll be bowled over by an aroma full of passionfruit, grapefruit, pineapple, mango, mandarin... The list goes on. The flavour gives the fullest hop flavour possible without even the slightest hint of overpowering bitterness. Top beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

No nonsense pale ale is fresh, savoury and with a healthy bite of spring onion. Secret hops creates a dry hoppy finish. Clean aroma, and surprisingly big taste. Not a hint of sweety malts here. West Aucklanders are awesome, hard working bogans for those unfamiliar.

From bottle in Belgian ale glass. Poured with frothy head, scarlet is an accurate moniker. The rich hops and malts feature from the nose through to the palate. A clean bitter finish to cut through the malty backbone. A very nice brew.

Very nice bit of beer this one, nice aroma on opening the bottle, pour looks great, if a bit oily, but it sits well, Lovely sweetness carries that top bitterness and they both work well. I didnít get much if anything by way of brine or shellfish, but then thatís not my area of expertise, if anything is or isnít. I would have this again though itís really pleasing

Something to share with your brother who only drinks Speights. Youíll enjoy the resinous hop aroma and heíll find comfort in the brown beer taste. But ultimately youíll revert to your usual choice of beer, but as a lover of hops, you know youíre correct
