GarrettB	3.8 Blue Pants Brettanomyces Fermented IPA May 13th, 2016 - A friend send these along from the East Coast, and I'm feeling quite lucky to give these a try. Blue Pants seems like a fun place, with funky, unpredictable beers. All that from just one sample. This brew is spicy, floral and funky, and more soapy than funky. It's a complex bouquet, and matched with a light palate. The aftertaste is long and flavorful. Biscuity, refined and floral, it offers light touches of apple and pear in a taste duet. The role of the Brett yeast is underplayed, but offers a mild funk throughout. Wednesday, September 23, 2020

When I had this beer it was average to below average for the style and not something I wanted to have again or I just didn't get back to my notes because of my technology at the time, work and/or family. GarrettB	3.7 Blue Pants Imperial Stout November 12th, 2015 - This is the last of three brews from Blue Pants and by far the best. Their stout pours a nice dark color (though the room is covered in a moody, dim glow) with about a finger of teriyaki brown foam. I drill down into the mottled fluff and get dry and stuffy smells of cocoa and cobwebs, with a little char. It smells aged, and though it hasn't lost freshness, it doesn't exhibit any of the raw silliness of some imperial stouts. The flavor is quite good, with a good oak note up front and a noticeable balance between the sinewy malt bill and the sweeter elements. There's a slight blandness up front as long as the beer is cold and fresh from the refrigerator, but with warmth this blandness matures into a bundle of notes similar to a Belgian Strong Ale, with darker fruits coming into play. GarrettB	2.5 Blue Pants Barley Wine - Oak Barrel November 7th, 2015 - Trends dictate big and burly brews these days which encourages some overly hefty beers coming out to market without any aging or finesse. This one from Blue Pants is another one of these booze bombs. The aroma by itself is far too boozy, intense and raw, reeking like a broken moonshine still. The flavors are a little more restrained but not by much. It tastes like a generic barleywine with abundant amounts of sticky and syrupy booze, and an aftertaste with a botanical touch. BelgianBeerGal	3.2 Blue Pants Oktoberfest Can from Hop City Birmingham on the way back from INDOC but enjoyed back in Southaven for Systems. Clear gold color with a nice, bubbly white head. Malty aroma with a hint of sweetness and lager yeast. Good lager but missing some of the caramel and light spice notes I associate with fest biers. Pours clear dark brown with ruby highlights, small frothy tan head, peanut butter aroma, medium carbonation, initially sweet peanut butter taste turning bitter soon, very strong peanut butter flavor, a bit soapy mouthfeel, long finish. ChainGangGuy	3.7 Blue Pants Pils Appearance: Served up a richly-hued yellow body, great clarity with an inch of white foam. Sufficient lacing. Smell: Pilsner malt housing a faint kiss of wildflower honey sweetness, a hunk of dough and a pinch of powdery grain dust. Taste: Pils, just a little honeyed sweetness, with a lightly astringent grain accent in the background. Light lemon for a touch of citrus, peppery spice and a bit of leafy greenery from the hops. Mildly bitter. Finishes nicely dry and fairly crisp. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Overall: Fairly decent. Thursday, July 4, 2019

Mr.Spooks	3.1 Blue Pants Coffee & Milk Pinstripe Stout Weird pint, with a somewhat off-putting nose and an unsettling amount of yeasty shit floating around the glass. Taste isn't bad, just takes a minute to get used to the aggressive coffee acidity. Lots of coffee cherry, raisin, and chocolate, with a manageable amount of roast on the back end and a rather dry finish for a lactose stout. Better than it scores, but not by much. Aggiebob	3.8 Blue Pants Atticus' Big Ol' Beer Draft. It poured a mahogany color with an off-white head and fair lacing. It has a fruity aroma with notes of plums, red grapes, vanilla, caramel and Belgian yeast. At 11% the alcohol is well hidden but warming. Very nice. Tuesday, March 12, 2019

I'm still surprised I grabbed him two beers I personally hadn't had and then never drank them myself. Black pour with a BIG tan head. Bitter chocolate aroma, touch of coffee. GTAEgeek	3.1 Blue Pants Supercool Double IPA 12 oz. can. Pours a hazy, orange color, with a big, bubbly, white head. The aroma is caramel, celery, pine, caramel, and some syrup. Mr.Spooks	3.4 Blue Pants Brut Pale Ale Good representation of what a "Brut Pale Ale" should be, but the whole Brut angle kinda takes away what I like so much about a good ol' APA. Reminds me a lot of the Bearded Iris pils I just drank, to be honest: hops laced with lemongrass and citrus, barely-there cracker malts, and a bready, dry finish. Again, seems more like a typical session IPA than a trendy new yeast-centric style, but hey, what do I know. Not a bad pint, but Blue Pants Pils is a better option. Tuesday, January 1, 2019

I bought this 12oz can a long time ago to send to someone who wanted an Alabama rating... it never happened, so this beer sat in my cellar in South Georgia forever and in a box in my garage when I moved to Wisconsin... grabbed something else out of the cellar box and was like okay whatever, that trade isn't ever going to happen, I'll just drink these... and guess what?! I hadn't rated this! Jackpot! I wonder why I didn't buy myself one at the time. Oh well. Black pour with a small tan head. Rich coffee aroma, chocolate sweetness. willisread	3.7 Blue Pants Brut Pale Ale Can from Trader Joe's. Pours a clearish gold with a finger of quickly dissipating soapy-looking head. Stone fruit aromas with yuzu and some pils malt-like notes with a touch of dank as it warms. Crisp and dry, highly carbonated on the palate. Nice dry finish that lingers on the palate. The aroma is hoppy with a grapefruit citrus notes on top of a strong roasted malt profile. The taste is rather bitter. The mouthfeel is a bit thick for an IPA. Still it is very good.
