3.1 Lead Feather Hodag Wheat Ale Draft at Old Fashioned. Looks like this might be a contract beer for Applebeers? Hazy orange, yellow, unfiltered. There isn’t much going on here. Watery, with just a touch of wheat character and a smooth malt body. Quite refreshing, hard to imagine it would be over 4%. Faint touch of lemon, very subdued, mellow American Wheat. Lacks any semblance of depth, but a nice summer thirst quencher. Thursday, June 14, 2012

1.7 Lead Feather Hodag Wheat Ale Date: July 17, 2011 Mode: Draft Source: Applebees, Wausau, WI Appearance: Translucent golden with slight amount of head. Aroma: Faint grainy. Flavor: Consistent with aroma but not much flavor, thin bodied and slightly watery, and very carbonated. Other: Didn’t do much for me, but the monster on the tap was pretty cool. 2.9 Lead Feather Hodag Wheat Ale On draught at the Applebee’s - Madison location, next door to Vintage brewing Company. Pours a semi-hazy golden straw colored brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that leaves behind some spotty lacing. Aroma of sweet citrus and floral hops, a hint of tropical fruit and golden grain malt. Taste is light bodied, plenty of carbonation with flavors of light golden malt, tropical fruit and some floral hops. Finish is slightly metallic, spritzy carbonation with a quick crisp finish with very little aftertaste. Profile is quite similar to Blue Moon Wit but with more carbonation. 3 Lead Feather Hodag Wheat Ale This is a fairly standard American Wheat, a bit hazy, yellow, billowing white head. Nose is grain and citrus. Palate is lemony and has decent body. Had on tap at Appleby’s in Wisconsin after hearing the story of the Hodag which is pretty cool. Saturday, August 14, 2010
