Rheingold Beer
12 ounce bottle from Total Wine Huntersville, NC. Pours a hazy golden color with a thin frothy white head. Fair head retention. Aroma of corn, toasted grain and a tart note. The taste is grainy malts and an acrid note. Almost no bitterness. Thin, watery. Is this beer? Ooh, upon warming it develops a canned tomato taste. Neat!

Not much going on here basic lager pours a bit on the light side. Crisp tasteless finish clean. Smooth drinking thats for sure. Basic watery pale lager works in that context certainlt ok for what it is but there are far better lagers such as gansett...

Rheingold Beer
Aroma of straw and very mild, grassy hops -- which are not readily perceivable. The taste is slightly less boring, with shy, sweet notes of malts accompanying the timid hop bitterness. Although this is all on a very small scale, it makes the beer at the very least drinkable.

Bottle. Aroma has notes of sweet cereal malts, lager yeast and floral citrus hops. Medium gold hue with a small fully diminishing head that left no lace. Flavor is medium sweet and lightly bitter. Palate is light bodied and soft carbonation. Overall a drinkable beer but pretty unremarkable.

From 12 ounce bottle purchased from One Stop Liquors in Bellevue, Kentucky. Gold color, old school pale lagery aroma, small white head, smooth bittersweet flavor with more character than BMC glorified water, bitterness more prominent in the finish.

Dull straw with a touch of haze. No head. Aroma is gluey, phenolic and generally off-putting. Watery, slightly sour with more phenols and some skunky hops. Itís bad, but not in a fun way.

Aroma of apples and corn. Pale golden and on the stiller side. Sweet for light lager, and pretty crisp as well. Another cheap but refreshing label resurrected to ride the beer enthusiastís wave.

Bottle.
Pours a weak yellow with lively carbonation and a thin white head. Aroma is artificially sweetened corn and cheap tea. Flavor is watery malt and a light lemony hops bread. Tingly mouthfeel. Not bad, actually; good old man beer, I sípose.

Bottle. I hadnít seen this in Texas before, so I bought it. Not much nose to it. Clear and gold enough. Tasty, though -- itís a damn fine little lawnmower beer, and it was tasty tonight while we played Bananagrams and Munchkin. Cheap. Get some.

Rheingold Beer
Pretty typical American lager in a cool retro bottle. A bit yeasty and fruity which implies sweetness but this is still a decent and drinkable beer even though itís on the flat side for the style. Old school American lagers are the one style I want to like more than any other but I just canít get into this.

From can no. 00311-1550-DK. Okay, so Rheingold has risen from the grave only this time it is being brewed in Connecticut and not New York like tradition. The pour is straw yellow with a 2 second fizzy head that diminishes to nothing. Aroma of barley, grain, and a vague sugar sweetness with a hop hint on the back. But you have to really sniff for it. Thin body. The taste is your average pale lager with echoes of malts, rice, and hops. Average to below average but not a total failure like so many other reviewers have suggested.

Bottle- Pours a pale yellow color with a small head that fades quickly and bits of lacing. Aroma of grain, a bit musty not much else. Mild flavor of malt sweetness and some bitterness. Light body a bit watery. No character. Not one I will seek out in the future. Not all Retro beers bring back fond memories.

Rheingold Beer
Rheingold Lager Beer has a thin-to-medium white head and a clear, straw appearance, with little lacing or head retention. The aroma is faint, but one picks up corn husk and an odd chemical sweetness. Taste is a mix of indistinguishable grains, gum resin, industrial matter, peculiar sweetness, and almost no hop spiciness. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Rheingold finishes crisp, dry, and rough, to some extent. Overall, this is an unrefined, cheap, low-quality beer. It shows what can happen with frequent ownership changes, coupled with an indifference to quality. At best, I rate this low average. RJT

Well, I hate to give out a negative review but this brew just didnít hold up to any sort of expectation of mine. This brew poured up a clear, straw-colored body the head was barely visible (no lacing effects at all) and dissipated so quickly that I barely had time to get it in the photo! Aromas are barely detectable but thereís just a tad bit of hops and malts; sadly it was rather bland smelling. Light-bodied and so easy to drink you wouldnít know you were drinking a beer. Flavors are very bland so whatever you pair this up with thatís all you are going to be tasting. Sadly I wonít recommend this brew to anyone.

Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Pale yellow, crystal clear, with a little head that soon fades. Aroma of light grain, barely detectable. Taste is subtle and light - a little sweet malt and a little dry in the finish. Not much to it. Inoffensive but without any nasty or off flavor or aroma and the little taste that is there is actually quite pleasant. Drank ice cold on a muggy night -p set and setting may be influencing my rating.

Pours with almost no head, makes lame effort to build a head but ultimately collapses - like a fat man trying to reach the remote. Taste is almost entirely neutral. Almost scientifically designed to leave little or no impression. This is a good beer for your Aunt Mildredís next door neighbor. You know the little old lady who drives a Buick and has a bird feeder in her front yard....yeah, largely forgettable. But, I donít mean any of this in a scathing put-down sort of way. Ice cold in the bottle would be fine to throw down your throat while recovering from heat-stroke. Just so little going here that its hard to form an impression - like Auntie Mildredís neighbor....

I tried this because it is finally available locally, and had been highly recommended by several people. I was told it was a good choice for music festivals and camping, as it comes in cans and is better than typical macros. Well, I guess I was misled. Pours pale golden, little head, little aroma, little flavor, no aftertaste whatsoever. 5% alcohol I guess, but it seems lighter than most light beers. Very drinkable and is the epitome of the word "innofensive," but that owes to the fact that it barely tastes like beer at all. You could have given me a blind taste test and told me it was Mich Ultra or something along those lines, and I wouldnít have questioned you. I wonít pour it out, but I am very disappointed and wish I hadnít spent $9 on 12. Hoped for a good "old man" beer, perhaps akin to PBR, Blatz, Strohís or maybe Yuengling (yeah right), or better. An overall rating of 2.0 is being kind.

12 ounce bottle, I think I picked this up from the cooler at Party Source. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a clear pale gold color with a half inch white head that went away quickly. Thereís a very small amount of lacing left on the glass. Aroma is corn, bready and sweet malt, and a bit of grassy hops. Taste is pretty much like the aroma, but there isnít any hop flavor that I notice. There arenít any offensive flavors or aromas. Mouthfeel/body is light, itís crisp and would be refreshing on a hot day. Itís not hard to drink at all. For the style, itís not a bad brew. I wouldnít buy a 6 pack of this, but buying a single bottle of it wasnít bad. I wouldnít turn one down if someone gave it to me either.

12oz can, no date as far as I can tell. Clear pale golden with a small white head, low retention. Aromas of sweet grain, and little else. Flavor continues with the same sweetness, though there is a tinge of lemons. Semi-dry, scant bitterness at best. Light body, low to moderate carbonation. Not terrible, but pretty boring, as expected. Teabagging this with some extra Citra hops lying around didnít hurt.

Rheingold Beer
12oz canned Nov 8, 2010. Pours golden yellow with some light sediment in suspension, one finger fizzy white head that quickly recedes to a wispy cap and ring only leaving a spot or two of lacing behind. Aroma is standard adjunct lager fare, sweet grain, corn, some bread and a touch of grass. Low to moderate strength (although I doubt many will be pouring this beer in a glass). Flavor is corn, grain, a touch metallic, a bit sweet at first but finishes quite dry and watery. Mouthfeel is thin and light, medium carbonation. Decent enough adjunct lager, would be an OK lawnmower beer but I think Iíd still take PBR for less money in this category.

Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured a bright golden amber color with a medium sized soapy white head that faded quickly and produced a bit of lacing. The aroma was sour, corny, tangy and quite industrial with touches of egg white and citrus. The flavor was tangy and corny with touches of grass and egg white. Short, tangy and a bit off in the finish. Light body. Thoroughly industrial. Not good.

Pours a clear rich gold with a thin snow-white head. Some fine lacing. Smells of grassy and very sweeet malt. Lightly sour. Itís grassy and lightly sour in the aftertaste. Some faint hops in the finish. Crisp and light although there is a bit of stickiness in the aftertaste. This is OK but pretty dull, even for a macro lager.
