Wild Range India Pale Ale 3.4
This isnít a bad IPA, although it was very inexpensive. The unfortunate thing is that this IPA was on par or better than many others from much smaller, local breweries. Itís sweet, hops throughout, and a good amount of alcohol. Itís a good session IPA.

Dieselpunk Double IPA 3
Can pour clear dark orange gold with large ecru head. Nose dank hop with a hint of some weird floral notes. Taste mostly sweet, candy and floral up front. Almost dried apple chips. Mid palate light bitterness and some dank hop . Sweet comes back for the finish. Very malt centric.

Wild Range India Pale Ale 2.2
Bottle: Clear, light amber with a thin white head. Bready, lightly perfumed scent. Taste is watery.....caramel malt, floral hops, bitter grain....cardboard. Cool label art.....not so cool beer.

Wild Range India Pale Ale 4.1
Golden to amber in color. Off white head that is thin with little lacing. Aromas of grains with a floral hint. Hoppy flavor with a wheatish finish. Pretty decent beer. It would go well with BBQ.

Dieselpunk Stout 2.7
Interesting can, inky brew, tan head. Powdery, nutty, caramel toffee aroma - fairly sweet. Tangy, sweet, earthy, sorta stale tasting, faint roast. Crisp carbonation, cigarette-y aftertaste. Drinkable, underwhelming. Thanks to PorterPounder.

Wild Range India Pale Ale 3.3
A medium amber colored body with a yellowish tinted white head. An earthy citrus nose has hints of pine and leather. The taste has bits of citrus and old bread. Notes of flowers are also present. Overall a decent if slightly sweet beer.

Dieselpunk Double IPA 2.7
Can: Clear amber with a thick beige head. Biscuity, caramel malt aroma. Taste is cloyingly, sticky-sweet, caramel malt, fruit....candied orange malt.... A bit of spruce..... Nothing works well together in this one....kind of a mess. Rather disappointing.

Dieselpunk Honey Amber 3.1
Can: Pours clear amber with a fluffy, off-white head. Grain, honey, toffee aroma. Taste is just the same.....pretty sweet... Not bad, fairly typical.....but solid.

Dieselpunk Double IPA 2.9
This pours a deep golden orange-amber into the glass, with a huge pocked ice cream stiff head that retains to a stiff cap down the pour, leaving thick, chunky lacing. The nose is of muddy citrus, an overpowering candied sweetness and pine accents. Flavors are of thick, almost maple syrup, covering undertones of candied orange, alcohol and a light peppering pine bitter finish. This seems far too cloying and overbalanced in the malt department, with a sticky, syrupy mouthfeel that doesnít substantiate its individual contingencies. Itís all over the place on the palate, but again, just too cloying for a DIPA. Unfortunate. It looks great! However, a little doctoring the recipe could really change this up for a huge positive effect.

Wild Range India Pale Ale 2
Clear light copper and bronze coloured body with a very thin, single centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of metal, light hops, a touch of malt and very little else. Light-bodied; Strong metallic hoppiness at first with a touch of malt and some light nuts and earth, but not much else to speak of - some caramel perhaps. Aftertaste shows the mild hops up front, with very low alpha acids, then a bit of the sweetness and finishing with some the cardboardie malts. Overall, not so good, but that was to be expected - not an IPA for sure, and not worth purchasing, even for $2 a bottle! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Shopperís Food Warehouse in Manassas, Virginia by my brother-in-law - Thanks Andy, sampled at home in Washington on 06-January-2016.

Dieselpunk Double IPA 3.4
can @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear medium/dark amber color, frothy white head, lace cobwebs. Aroma of sweet malt. Taste is caramel malt that adds medium carbonation and a shot of hop bittering on the swallow, only to return to Malt for a long finish. Once you get past the fact that this isnít a Double IPA, then it checks in as a decent malt focused brew. I like it!

Dieselpunk Double IPA 3.2
Clear golden, with a speckled white head. Aroma is lemon, honey and orange, with some oxidized malt notes. Taste is the same, but a bit too sweet, with a slightly solventy bittering. $9/6pack

Dieselpunk Porter 2.8
Poured from a 12 OZ can into a pint glass. The appearance is a dark brown with a medium sized off-white head. The aroma is roasted malt, sort of plain. The taste was not good, very metallic. Overall, a below average beer from World Brews.

Tap Room No. 21 Moeís Backroom Copper Lager 2.5
Bottle from a Grocery Outlet in Woodland, CA. Pours coppery amber with a slight white head. Aroma is mild malt. Med minus body. Flavor is lightly treacle. A Vienna that is rather weak in flavor strength. Yet it has a few flavors in itís favor. If you are into a mild, malty ale. Tastier than Bud.

Dieselpunk Stout 3
12 oz can served in a Porter Bar goblet. 5.8% ABV and brewed in NY indicated on the can. A moderately vigorous pour raised a large, fluffy tan head but this soon reduced to a thin top coat. Aroma: overly earthy and dank (due to English hops?). Flavor: ~ on style with more chocolate than toffee and more toffee than coffee. The aftertaste is the best aspect of this stout. Feel: very smooth with lively carbonation that works well. Overall: decent;

Tap Room No. 21 Moeís Backroom IPA 3.7

Dieselpunk Honey Amber 2.8
12 oz. can from my local Kroger. Pours a clear golden/light amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have pale, lager malts, grains, sweet honey, some off notes, simple, not something that I would repeat.

Tap Room No. 21 Pumpkin Ale 3.1
12 oz bottle served in a pint glass. "Brewed and bottled by the Rivertown Brewing Co. ,,, OH". Pours with a clear orange-amber body, although there was a bit of sediment at the bottom of the bottle despite a full pour. The thin head disappears almost immediately. Attractive aroma of spiced toffee and baked bread. Flavor: lightly sweet but in harmony with the other flavor characteristics. Moderate-high spicing, about typical for style, but with a strong vein of vanilla. Feel: light-medium body with overly light carbonation.

Tap Room No. 21 Moeís Backroom IPA 2.6
Pour is anhazy copper with a small whit head. Aroma has some mild hop notes with more of a sweetish caramel malt. Flavor is again a very mild bitterness with a not too sweet malt. Not terribly complex but not as bad as the score indicates here. In the IPA world this would not e close to a good beer.

Cheers Normís Amber Ale 3
From the 16 oz. can. Pours into a Genesee glass a light to medium amber color with a big cream colored head. There is honey in this beer and that is evident in the sweet aroma along with a juicy fruit sensation. Medium, slick body. Lots of honey in the taste. Very sweet. Could have been better.

Big Flats 1901 Light Beer 2.1
Aroma and flavor is corn and rather watery. Not a lot of punch to this but it wasnít a drain pour.

Tap Room No. 21 Oktoberfest (Marzen Ale) 2.9
I lost $194 just before buying this 6-pack. Thatís a little over $32 a bottle. Nose is butter, caramel and toffee. Sip adds grass and sweetness. the sip was way better than the nose. Medium-light to medium body. Grassy finish. Watered down toffee. My mood has nothing to do with the rating.
Sunday, October 18, 2015

Tap Room No. 21 Oktoberfest (Marzen Ale) 3.2
Bottle. Nutty toffee malt and weedy hay aroma. Slightly hazy dark amber with small head. Sweet creamy caramel malt and lightly bitter herbal hay flavor. Pretty sweet but not bad.

Big Flats 1901 Light Beer 3
Can, shared by me... in my dining room... just now.
Pours a pale gold. The head is exciting, but it is not beautiful.

The aroma is pretty much like packaged white bread, not inciting, aromatic, or offensive in any way.... and it quite literally smells like packaged white bread.

The flavor is interesting enough, super light... not a lot of doughy sweetness, not a lot of adjunct character, some absolutely identifiable and well expressed floral and citrus hop character! Itís surprisingly clean tasting.... damn!

Easily could be a regular crusher!

Hopper Whitman Summer Brew Pale Ale 2.6
355ml bottle into schooner glass. Bottle from ALDI. Smoky malt/hop nose. Red/copper beer with ephemeral bubbly white head. Light carbonation. Medium body, very slight zing. Finish is subtly fruity with malt dominant. Not bad, tastes a bit like an English bitter only lighter.
Saturday, October 17, 2015

Tap Room No. 21 Pumpkin Ale 3.4
Bottle. Cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and pumpkin malt aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Lightly sweet nutmeg, cinnamon, and pumpkin malt flavor. Pretty good - not too sweet or spicy.

Tap Room No. 21 Moeís Backroom Belgian White 2.1

Tap Room No. 21 Pumpkin Ale 2.2
Smells horribly sweet and the taste is just as bad. Sometimes I think getting beers I know will be bad just because I havenít had them is a bad idea.

Dieselpunk Double IPA 2.1
12oz can, thanks to Joe M. Code on bottom reads F205 1313:00. Enjoyed from my IPA glass. Pours a mostly clear amber color, with a huge khaki head. Leaves very thick lace. Sweet kind of biscuity, mildly buttery malty taste up front. Some peppery spicy hop. Very weird malt sweetness here. Bigger sweet, mild bitter. Some heat on the back end. Medium to bigger body. Kind of slick texture. Light carbonation. Not very enjoyable. Just sweet biscuity malt.

Tap Room No. 21 Moeís Backroom IPA 2.9
12 oz bottle from Krogerís on Broad street The ale poured a clear light amber with a nice 1 inch head that stayed with the beer, There was lacing down the glass. The aroma was very neutral with some resin. The taste had an unnatural sweetness.pours out a dirty gold. The ale had a medium body with average carbonation. The finish was clean with a lingering sweetness. This is an average IPA. I hope I have the correct beer. There is nothing on the bottle for Moeís Backroom.

Dieselpunk Stout 3.2
Poured into a perfect pint. 3.0 A: Black color. Two fingers of frothy beige head. Retention is below average and a few wisps of lacing are left. 3.75 S: This smells a lot like the porter I just drank. Roastiness, hazelnut coffee, toastiness, caramel, chocolate. Pretty good. 3.5 T: It tastes like the porter too, but it has more depth. Chocolate, caramel, roastiness, toastiness, hazelnut coffee. Not amazing, but drinks super easy. 3.25 M: Light to lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Lightly creamy and super smooth. 3.75 D: This is so damn easy to drink. Thatís about all I need to say. ★ 606 characters DavoleBomb, Apr 13, 2014

Dieselpunk Porter 3.1
Poured into a perfect pint. 4.25 A: Clear dark brown color. Two fingers of frothy beige head. Retention is good and glass covering lacing is left. 3.75 S: This smells a lot like amaretto and hazelnut coffee. Fairly sweet and roasty with caramel and toastiness. Smells quite nice, but doesnít have a lot of depth. 3.25 T: The taste is good, but like the nose it lacks depth. Roasty with hints of chocolate, caramel, hazelnut, and coffee. 2.75 M: Lighter body. The carbonation is a bit aggressive, but itís okay. Lacking body and creaminess. 3.0 D: Itís okay, but nothing to go crazy over. ★ 592 characters DavoleBomb, Apr 13, 2014
