Kent / Gipsy Hill Yuzu Pale
bottle at home from ales by mail
I think there may be sorachi in this but theres also a tonne of diacetyl buttered popcorn ahoy which completely obscures any flavour that may be in there from the yuzu. Moderate bitterness, and body, quite spritzy carbonation but slick & flabby mouthfeel - disappointing really.

Kent Black Gold
Cask at Reading Beer Festival. Dark brown. Pleasing light hoppy smell. Bland and watery on tasting, just a little toast and mild fruit. They’ve managed to do what they said; it’s a dark beer that tastes like a golden ale. Unfortunately it’s one of those rather drab and dull golden ales that so dominate the market these days. Shame.

Cask at CBC Brixton as ’Kent / Craft Common Sense’, 5%. Brewed for CBC Clapham’s 2nd anniversary. Pale yellow, clear, still, small bubbly off-white head. Aroma is biscuity malt, floral, malt sugars. Body is rounded, soft carbonation. Taste is grapefruit, straw, nice musty bitterness endures. I mean, they call this a ’session IPA’, but it’s really just a very well judged golden ale. I approve.

Bottle, courtesy of Nelson. Split the crowd a little this one. Very pale yellow, high carbonation, lots of white foam. Spicy and very herbal, more so than citrusy actually. Parsley. Long bitterness. Quite funky and unusual, I liked it. A bit more yeasty maybe Belgian and could have been awesome. And extra points for the crazy eyes on the samurai on the bottle!
