3.3 La Captive La Pilleuse Bottle from local iga grocery A citrusy, light grapefruit, a touch of biscuit malt, faint oranges. App: clear copper small white head. T/p: med body with short bitter finish. Moderate carbonation. O: A first contact with this brewery for me and I'm not that I'm impress. Just like the label this beer smell like something from the 90's. I couldn't find a date on it, I will update if I ever find it on tap somewhere. Wednesday, January 3, 2018

2.6 La Captive La Coupable on tap on the premises. hazy bright gold pour with a small creamy bright white head offering some retention and lacing. zesty dried oranges, citrus cocktail with a bit of sweetness, sweetish malts with a relatively important phenolic dose, pepper, some herbs, yeast. moderate carbonation, light body - oily; semi-sweet herbal-spicy finish. slightly under-attenuated yet classic over-spiced wit. nah. 3.3 La Captive La Pilleuse on tap on the premises. almost clear bright golden orange pour with a small creamy and sticky white white head offering some retention and lacing. lots of cantaloup melon fruitiness with incoming sweetness, doughy very lightly toasted maltiness, no caramel per se, assertive pine needles, clean very fruity american yeast action. moderate carbonation, light to medium body - oily; semi-sweet citrusy-piney finish. fragrant but lacking in balance - remains enjoyable. 3.3 La Captive La Cachotière on tap on the premises. unclear medium dark brown pour, orange hue piercing through, with a very creamy beige head offering good retention and lacing. spicy and earthy milk chocolate, almost assertive grassiness, touch of earthy coffee beans, like a ten day-old ground coffee bag, i.e. not so bad; some lactosean residual sugars. creamy nitroed carbonation, light body - oily; balanced roasty-grassy finish. a fairly decent stout - clearly their ’’best’’ offering. 3 La Captive La Pyromane on tap on the premises. hazy dark golden pour with a small creamy eggshell white head offering some retention and lacing. sweetish fruity specialty red maltiness, no caramel per se which if is fine by me with unfortunate garbagey notes; some grassy hop nobleness, lots of dust, dirt. moderate carbonation, light body, semi-sweet grassy finish. some interesting red flavours yet falls short - still is one of their ’’best’’ offerings. Monday, July 17, 2017

2.3 La Captive La Chambreuse on tap on the premises. clear copper-orange pour with a very small beige cap offering minimal retention and lacing. charred fruity caramel, misplaced roasted acidity, pepper, some ashy dirt. moderate carbonation, light body - watery; awkward roasted-grassy-earthy finish. very cheap poorly crafted honey brown ale. Monday, July 17, 2017

2.5 La Captive L'Innocente on tap on the premises. almost cloudy pale golden pour with a small white cap offering some retention and lacing. semi-sweet almost wort-y maltiness, caramelish, stale fruitiness, faint herbs and grass, relatively clean eyast action. moderate carbonation, light body - oily; almost balanced but bland grassy-herbal finish. below average, even for a blonde ale. clearly an innocent kinda brew. Monday, July 17, 2017

2.6 La Captive L'Imposteure on tap on the premises. hazy very pale yellow pour with a small white cap offering minimal retention and lacing. pale pils-ish malts, off caramel hints, some greasy lemony crackers, pepper, faint grassiness, touch of cardboard. moderate carbonation, light body - relatively thin; short peppery-citrusy finish. like an o-k macro-like pilsner. borderline impostoring here. 2.8 La Captive La Tavarneuse Hazy golden amber color with poor activity. Thick white 1 finger head, lasting around 10 minutes, with average legs. Aromas and flavors of caramel, grains, nuts, floral and herbal spices. Butterscotch nose. Taste of sweet grains, burnt sugar and roasted nuts. More sharp than sweet and slightly grassy. Slick medium body with perfect carbonation. Strong finish of medium length, ending with a coarse floral mouth coat, coriander and piney feel. Overall an average craft with good freshness while overly spicy and lacking some flavors like citrus or fruits. Tuesday, April 12, 2016

2.6 La Captive La Coupable From tap : Clear straw, almost golden color, with poor activity. White 1 finger head, lasting around 5 minutes, with poor legs. Aromas and flavors of citrus, pine, fruits, caramel, floral and herbal spices. Floral and piney nose. Taste of lemon and orange with some thick coriander and strong piney spices. More bitter than sweet with a grassy and woody feel. Slick medium body with prickly carbonation. Strong finish of medium length, ending with a highly spicy bitter tongue coat and dry grassy feel. Overall a little off; doesn’t really feel like a white beer, more like a pale ale. The freshness is alright, but the flavors are too strong, overly spicy, with a perceptible alcohol feel. 3.8 La Captive L'Incarceré Une belle surprise celle-là! Très peu sucrée avec beaucoup d’épices (anis, cannelle). Le caramel et les prunes sont dominants en bouche... À boire de nouveau assurément. Friday, February 20, 2015

2.7 La Captive La Tavarneuse Pour is a lifeless orangey gold with no head to speak of. Nose is earthy grain and hay. Pretty much all malt. Taste is a sweet, fruity malt, a bit watery, with a bit of bite on the back end. Faint copper aftertaste. Not horrid, but not very good. Wednesday, November 26, 2014

Wednesday, June 25, 2014

2.1 La Captive La Tavarneuse Pours a clear golden with a soapy rim for a head that leaves light lacing. Nose is pretty "english" in nature with some earthy notes along with the usual "tobacco" notes I get from english pale ales. There is also some awkward garbage (think rotten vegetables) smell to it that I really don’t want in a beer. Taste isn’t much better with some caramel, earthy dried leaves and some light fruits. Some weird mineral notes or maybe it’s the carbonic acid. Body is light to medium, carbonation pretty much unbearable (too damn high!). Not sure what to add here, they need to do some major work on this recipe or any recipe before I dare to drink any of their products again... Friday, June 20, 2014

2.2 La Captive La Tavarneuse Draft: Poured a light amber color ale with a small foamy head. Aroma of grainy cereal notes is really not that pleasant. Taste is dominated by cereal unrefined grainy notes with dank hops with a dry aftertaste. Body is light with OK carbonation. The recipe needs to be work on and improve. Friday, June 20, 2014

2.5 La Captive La Tavarneuse An amber ale with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with faint English hops, a bit off. In mouth, a sweet caramel malt with butterscotch, bad and boring. On tap at Mondial 2014. Sunday, June 15, 2014

Friday, November 1, 2013

Friday, November 1, 2013

3.3 La Captive La Traître On tap at La Captive. The color is a dark brown with a nice thick dark beige head. The aroma is of roasted matl and coffee. The taste also of roasted malt plus strong coffee a bit of caramel but just a bit nothing sweet about this beer. the taste is long lasting in your mouth. Thursday, April 18, 2013
