3 John Kepplers Premium Irish Cider (4.5 %) 330ml 4.5% bottle from No. 5, Waterford. Colour is quite impressive with a nice golden hue, high effervesence. Aroma is a light fruitiness with a slught tartness. Taste has a light body with medium to high carbonation. There is a light fruity taste with a hint of pear and an uncomplicated, uncomplex simple after taste. Overall I’m impressed with this. It’s nice and light with a meal or on it’s own but I think it might more body for drinking on its own. Thursday, October 30, 2014

3.2 John Kepplers Premium Irish Cider Honey color, no head, thin body and dry, slight n strange medicinal flavors, bitter plastics (sulfur?), not the best cider I’ve had on this trip, though I do appreciate it’s dry finish and lack of sugar. Bought this in Cashel, Ireland. Monday, September 22, 2014

2.9 John Kepplers Premium Irish Cider Can. Light golden body, medium to minimal head. Aroma has fresh green apples. Mouthfeel is a bit watery but the taste is well balanced - medium dry with a mildly tart finish. Not complex by any means but very drinkable because the sweetness is under control and the finish is pleasant. Obviously better than the watered down 4,5% version. Tuesday, August 26, 2014

2.8 John Kepplers Premium Irish Cider (4.5 %) Bottle from Tesco, Carrick-on-Shannon [310514] Light golden, clear, no head Aroma - acidic nose, very weak cider apple nose Taste of fairly sweet light cider apple, simple, light flavour, slightly tart Palate - soft carb, light body, soft acidity, light sweet, easy going. Finish fairly dry then a bit of juicy cider apple in the tail Overall - Not too bad, found this slightly above average amongst commercial ciders. Ratings seem a bit harsh here Friday, May 30, 2014

2.9 John Kepplers Premium Irish Cider Interesting, though not in a good way: very light, sweet apple aroma, but the taste itself is watery, a bit alkaline, a tiny bit tart, with a bone-dry finish. Not recommended relative even to more commonly-found Irish ciders. Tuesday, May 20, 2014

1.6 John Kepplers Premium Irish Cider (4.5 %) 568 ml bottle bought at Wellcome Superstore in Sheung Shui. Clear bright golden urine yellow colour; Razor-thin head and residual soapy white foam which fades in 5 seconds; Nero zero lacing with fizzy carbonation; Slightly fragrant aroma of apple wine, with tannic and low tartness; Low sweet taste of light apple wine, with soda, very light tartness, and shades of tannic; Light body, watery palate; Mouth feel is very light weight, but quite notable apple wine flavor. No apple juice, no sugar, very watery and high carbo, only some tannic and tartness. Very cheap… Slightly dry after taste, very easy and slight tart to mouth. Comments: From the label, there are lots of chemical in this one (malic acid, tannic acid, apple aroma and colourings), no wonder it’s so cheap and artificial in every way. Undemanding and not quite a drain pour, but certainly one of ’those’ to steer clear from. Saturday, April 12, 2014

2.3 John Kepplers Premium Irish Cider (4.5 %) Taster from a can. Pours a golden yellow, not much of a head. Aroma is rather sweet apple. Taste is somewhat sugary apple, not much to it really. Palate is alright, not too watery. Saturday, October 26, 2013

2.4 John Kepplers Premium Irish Cider (4.5 %) 1 pint bottle. Golden body, minimal head... disappears. Aroma has green apple peel and some medicine. Very fizzy mouthfeel. Looking at the golden body - it should taste quite rich. Not in reality - taste is strangely empty with some light apple peel and apple juice. Ah yes, it appears that the colour is artificial. A watered down cider but at least it’s not a sugarbomb. Pricetag suggested more quality. Thursday, July 18, 2013

2.5 John Kepplers Premium Irish Cider (4.5 %) 330 ml can. L3058F. BB 02/2014. (S-Market) Helsinki, Finland. Clear reddish golden colour with a tiny frothy white head. A crisp apple aroma with mild sweetness. The flavour is red apples, mild vanilla sweetness and some mild tartness. Not utterly useless. Very easy though. Thursday, July 18, 2013

2.8 John Kepplers Premium Irish Cider Appearance: Quite a vibrant pour, large head that disappears immediately, lots of visible carbonation. Aroma: Malty, synthetic apple/cheap apple juice. Flavour: much the same as the aroma with a half decent apple bite. Quick medium dry finish. Saturday, October 20, 2012

2.7 John Kepplers Premium Irish Cider pours golden yellow with no head and a few slow CO2 streams. Faint filtered apple juice on the nose. A burst tingly fizziness up front, 8/10-sweet red apples, medium tart green apples, light woodiness, finishing crisp, sweet, clean, slightly puckery. Low complexity, low-medium depth, good transitions, okay carry, good drinkability. Wednesday, October 10, 2012

2.2 John Kepplers Premium Irish Cider (4.5 %) 330ml can (K Kamppi, Helsinki) Initiall there’s a real sharp aroma. White pepper aroma in the glass. Very watery palate, fizzy carbonation - gonna be burping this for a while probably. There’s even a bit of pepper in the palate. Crisp and sharp, quite nicely dry. However, it’s not full enough for me. Thursday, August 2, 2012

2.7 John Kepplers Premium Irish Cider (4.5 %) Canned (from Prisma, Vaasa). Goldeny orange colour, small white head. Aroma is apples, mild sugar, some slight tartness and wood as well. Flavour is mostly sweet apples, with a quite dry palate. Some mild vanilla is there as well. Quite sweet though, probably sweeteners used. A bit like commercial meeting bulk. 3.2 John Kepplers Premium Irish Cider (4.5 %) 330 ml can, 4.5% ABV. BBE 02/2013. Pours a clear golden colour, no bubbles and no head at all. Aroma of crisp red apples with some vanilla-like notes. Flavour of strong, crisp and tangy red apples, wet wood, sugar and some acidity. Medium bodied, and a big, tangy apple finish. Quite an unusual cider really, but I like this tanginess. 3.5 John Kepplers Premium Irish Cider The nose on this one offers stewed apples and brown sugar. Clear deep golden body looks almost still but has nice colour. Flavour offers exactly what the aroma promised. Some lingering apple skin is notable in the finish. Medium light body with somewhat low carbonation that works perfectly for me... Rather engaging and complex than the majority of industrial ciders this competes against. Just above fridge temperature. Can purchased at Brewery Creek in January 2012. Saturday, January 28, 2012

2.8 John Kepplers Premium Irish Cider (500ml can) Pours a clear yellow body with a spare white head. Aroma of sweet apples, light band-aid, cheese, and light wet leather notes. Flavor of sweet apples, earthiness, and subtle funk. Friday, January 6, 2012

2.5 John Kepplers Premium Irish Cider Quite excited off the pour to quickly settle. The fast streaming carbonation burps out to atmosphere in a medley of snap, crackle, pop. The body an orange amber and bright as bright. Salted Gouda cheese is my initial thoughts for the nose. A longer whiff and I wasn’t mistaken. Strong red apple on edge though, plasticine and saw dust the rest. Light, fizzy and just a little gassy in the mouth. Light sweetness and all apple as far as flavour. Finishes dry, crisp and very short. Harmless enough. Up there with Magner’s and Bulmer’s in the lack of complexity but ease of drinking stakes! (50cL can, BBE 06/12, Dan Murphy’s Currambine) Friday, December 16, 2011
