The Commons Madrone 3
Bottle (750 ml) shared at tasting. Slightly hazy golden with a medium white head leaving some lacing. Aroma is fruity (citrus, but also mild berries) with cardboard/oxidation notes and mild spiciness. Taste is fruity and floral with citrus notes, cardboard, mild metallic presence and herbal notes. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Fruity finish. The oxidation was unfortunate and the beer didnít have much interesting features otherwise.

Pours a super hazy golden with a high white head that leaves nice lacing. Nose is of oxidation and carbonic acid. Taste is of cardboard, fruits and caramel. Eh... Body and carbonation are average for the style. Old, oxidized and just not that good, would have to rerate a fresher sample since I feel this one was just too old and not representative.

pours cloudy dark golden with a frothy off-white head, reviving and leaving stuffy lacing. doughy rotten fruits - orange spiciness; minty citrus, metallic, cherry acridness, old grass/rag, minerals, hint of sweetness. moderate carbonation, light body, semi-sweet and spicy finish. ordinary, which is common.

The Commons Flemish Kiss 3.7
Bottle. Copper color with a thin ring of beige head. Nose is hops, brett, oak, and a little fruity. Smells like itís going to be acidic... Sour and light bitter taste, a little funky fruit. Somewhat acidic, but less than the aroma would suggest. More hops than fruit, oak barrel, and sour.

Like a Belgian chocolate cake with a berry drizzle frosting but nice and dry! Just a phenomenal beer with undertones of farm, roast, cherry, raspberry, Field and flowers. Stunning.

The Commons Trillium 3.6
Pours a clear golden with a white rim on top that doesnít leave any lacing. Nose is lightly acetic with some cheesy funk also but I found it to be really tame overall. Taste is moderately acidic and funky again and feeling a bit gueuze-y. Body and carbonation were average and mouthfeel vinous. It grew on me as I went down my sample, quite good in the end!

The Commons Biere Royale 3.6
Pours a hazy golden (uh?) with a small white head that leaves good lacing. Nose is of berries, currants I guess, lightly jammy. Taste is lightly vegetal and quite a bit puckering with a high level of citric acidity. More astringent currants. Body is light, carbonation moderate and mouthfeel is vinous/tannic. Pretty good if not just a tiny bit too acidic.

Bottle (750 ml) at tasting. Shared by mathieuc, thanks! Clear orangey with a small white head leaving little lacing. Aroma is super perfumy to the point of being cloying along berries, grape juice and mild wood spiciness. Taste is of berries but find a way to be super perfumy as well. Thereís grape juice again which gives the beer a kind of unpleasant juicy sweetness and mild spiciness from the oak. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Grape juice finish. Way too perfumy. Hard to drink. Not my kind of beer at all.

Bottle (750 ml) at tasting. Thanks to Lurkaholic for this bottle! Hazy orangey with a small white head, good retention, leaving little lacing. Aroma fruity (berries) and floral forward but it also feel a bit oxidized and dusty with leathery notes and mild spiciness. Taste is quite fruity, gently tart and moderately acidic with berries, floral notes, mild spiciness and lemon. Light to medium body. Medium carbonation. Iím not sure if this is oxidized on purpose, but it gives an interesting touch. Good.

750ML Bottle enjoyed at fridge temp. A calm pop of the cap and poured without any head at all. Dark orange with red hues, looks fully still. Pinot Grape musk aroma with acid, some vinegar and apples This one is certainly sour. Acidic vinegar taste, apple, pear and peaches with nectarine for good measure. finishes oily and thin with a light bit of butter. There is some carb here but itís not easy to make work for you.

The Commons Enkel 2.7
Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Cloudy blond color with small compact head. The aroma is delicate, spicy, coriander. The mouthfeel is weak, the flavor is simple, a bit soapy, salty, rather dry, with very low bitterness, hence mellow in the final.
Too simple.

An old bottle bought in Portland 2 years ago - way past prime - Appypolly loggy. Aroma is the tops for me as I can smell all the flavors that are still there without some of the accompanying flavors. The color is a sunset orange (sorry I just saw Star Wars IV-VII and the images are all) with a good retention head with lacey-ness of joy. Sour prevails with a sweet Thereís a bittering lingering that is probably the results of aging. Overall lovely, and sorry I didnít taste you sooner... Until next time > Cheers & beers!

Soft and pale golden hue with one finger of off white head. Nose is nice. Muted with soft fruits, a light acidity, fruit skins, and a touch of bread. Light and easy in the mouth. Light light grainy notes with some popcorn as I breath out. Light fruit and a little woody. Touch of tartness.

Amberkleurig bier. Zoetig Ė zurige en fruitige neus. Hetzelfde zoetig Ė zurige vind men terug in de smaak, alleen spijtig dat er een muffe smaak bij komt kijken. Ze mogen hun kusje houden.

Bottle. Colour...nearly black with a thin tan head. Nose...funky, fruity, tangy and just a bit Bourbony. Palate...light CO2,tangy fruits, raisins, old plums and booze. Thereís loads figgy goodness and notes of cassis combined with a lightly dry feel and an alum like pucker. The finish is supple and yet robust.

750 ml bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks solid; a cloudy lemon with lively carbonation and fizzy white head that dissipates quickly and completely. Smells mildly tart and funky with a nicely balanced floral presence. Tastes like it smells, but more tart and floral, and mildly bitter. Still well-balanced though. Some yeast on the back of the tongue as well. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and pleasantly lively. A good take on the style.

The Commons Myrtle - Ginger Lime 3.7
Draft on tap at the brewery tap room tPortland, OR). Pours a well hazed lucid golden orange hue, a bit dulled, decent haziness and loose bubbly offwhite head that dies to a skant layer, subtle ringer and minimal lacing. Aromas are tart and punchy, a bit of wild dry funky brett meet some Belgian yeast, mellow fruity ester growth starts to take off. Some bitter minelral driven lime rind, a faint ginger spice, mellow bready malts, a bit of doughj with some honeycrisp fruit jabs. Tart but not overwhelming. Initial is a bit more potent and fuzzy as far as wild and sour appeal, earth, some bready malts and straw meet gentle farmhouse yeast, firmer tartness, fuzzy lactic appeal is yogurty, a bit citric with some pineapple. The lime addition adds some synergy as the ginger gives a gentle flash up front but tapers off qucikly, never gets in the way. A touch of sweetness, earth, gentle ester in the middle whereas a lactic and lime addition synergy takes off into the backend and finishn ending up a bit pithy, bitter and sour. I think in the end that this is enjoyable but muddles some of the flavors and feel that make Myrtle such a success just a bit. Nice enjoyable nose, a bit disappointing pour likely based on those rind oils and citrus killing the head and color. Good flavors and flow, a popping backend and finish that finally grab me. Nice fun treatment of Myrtle.

Could swear I rated this. Anyway, a stand out from a pretty mediocre sampling of beers on a trip to the northwest. Rudy orange. Nose of pineapple and some light piney hops. Taste follows with full mouthfeel. Delicious.

On tap at The Commons, pours a hazy bronze with a small white head. Aroma is really restrained, with just a touch of earthy farmhouse. Flavour is similar, with earthy notes, some Belgian yeast, and a touch of bready malt. Fairly subtle flavours but itís clean enough. Decent.
