Can at Blippís going away tasting, thanks Andy. Pours a clear gold with thin white head. Smells like fruit cocktail rotting in a garbage can in the sun for a few days. Possibly smells like the people festering in an alley who might be drinking this. Very terrible. Medium bodied, soft sweetness, old fruit. Long dirty fruit into the finish. Not good.

Can via some FloRida cock master. Pours gold. A gold rew. Nice. Aromas of sweet corn and some light cologne notes. Taste is semi sweet and corny. Flavors of corn and EuroTrash cum. Finishes on a note of too expensive for the bums, not enough cred for the hardcore malt likka tickers. Meh.

Can shared at the RBSG grand tasting. I just couldnít escape malt liquors that weekend. Pours a clear pale gold with a white head that leaves spots of lace. Kind of ugly. Dry throughout, with sweet malts, minerals, and booze. Light-bodied, with medium carbonation and a crisp mouthfeel. Not the best, not the worst. Tevs.

Can courtesy of Blipp or Max or Andy, regardless this was trash. Aroma is just plain offensive and gross. Mouthfeel is medium to light, carbonation and notes of wet paper, grain, alcohol, offensive malt-bill. Drain-pour? Toilet-pour.

With the imported taste...sweet corn and earthy grain aroma. Bubbly yellow, okay head for this style of beer. Raunchy stale cereal grain taste - sweet but not sickeningly so like some stronger malt bevs. Very smooth but with a good crispness. Not a washout. A personal favorite of mine, and of a thousand high-class íbangers.

Pours cloudy(!) golden with white head and large bubbles. Aroma of massive infection. Fruity and sour milky. Gross bro. As it warms up the aroma somehow. Tastes of cardboard, which after that aroma is actually a welcome surprise. Puzzl claims this is about five years old. That may have saved it. Some strawberries and cream too. So weird. Thin on the palate. Finish is fruity and sweet.

5 year old can. Drank on the rocks, as directed: http://i.imgur.com/sG15xWE.jpg

Definite bacterial infection here. Cloudy pour, gusher, fruity, slightly sour nose. Actually not that bad. Thin as hell, a little cardboard, grainy as hell. No sourness there.

Not so good.

40 oz. bottle purchased from Kentucky Liquors in Natick, MA. Urine-bayed presentation. Thin snowy head; skull fragments you could say. Smells... tastes... LME, corn, and watered sakť. I used this to get as drunk as possible in the car parked outside of Caseyís Diner. I needed a few hours to kill; fuck it, I had to time.

Can. Kept inside of the can. I dig the whole deer vs. lion on the label so Iíll go ahead and give the appearance a five. Lots of imported taste in the nose. Flavor is oddly dominated my chocolate and caramel notes. No grape drank at all, no sign of alcohol. Mildly sweet finish. I did not try this on the rocks, but that might drink pretty good on a hot summer day.

Haffenreffer Private Stock Malt Liquor
Poured from a 40 oz. green bottle, Haffenreffer Private Stock has a very thick, creamy, cream-colored head, a clear, bubbly, golden appearance, and lots of fairly thick lacing left on the glass. The aroma is a sickly-sweet grain husk smell. Taste is of sweet & sour grain husks, old bread, some hop bitterness, and itís fairly cloying and alcohilic. Mouthfeel is leaning towards medium, and Haffenreffer Private Stock finishes semi-dry, crisp, and rough. Drinkability is not particularly high with this. When I tried this from the can in 2009, when it was still owned by Pabst, it was much better. I rate this iteration 1.5 stars (ordinary). RJT

24 oz can. Nose is lightly grassy with hints of malt ,sweet corn and pale lager grains. Creamy and more full bodied than most malt liquors, and not as watery. Has a European name and a European look , but this does taste like an American malt liquor. I do not understand the high scores, 3ís and above for this beer. I think that I am being generous with this "2".

40oz from Blanchards Liquor in Revere, MA. Pours golden with a small, fizzy white head. Aroma is og corn, soap, and alcohol. This is going to be bad. Taste is of corn, soap, straw, and sawdust. Has a really boozy, medicinal taste. Yeah, that was really bad.

Commonly referred to as "P-Stock"... it truly is the malt liquor with the imported taste! Possibly my favorite malt liquor of all time. The 40-ouncer is a beautiful green bottle with a snazzy label. A truly unique member of the malt liquor family, this stuff tastes amazing and boasts an unmatched level of drinkability. Thereís something special about Private Stock... It puts you in a great mood. Best enjoyed around a campfire with friends. I have turned a lot of disbeleivers on to this brew. In addition to 40ís and 24ís, this comes in SIX PACKS OF 16-OZ BOTTLES, an unusual pack size that I havenít seen in any other beer. Unfortunately, I canít find this fantastic beer in Chicago or Milwaukee anymore. If you know where I can find it, let me know. My 40oz. bottle says "brewed by Pabst Brewing Co." on it. I canít find this beer anymore. Let me know if you see it anywhere.

From the gigantic can. Bright light yellow with a gigantic head to match the can. The aroma is off-putting to the max ... flat-out sweet corn. Drinks with the expected super-sweet jet fuel essence of lower cost malt liquors. But as I go, this settles into an unoffensive spirit, without offendingly obtuse corniness or such. Could be worse. Haffenreffer Private Stock Malt Liquor
Drunk as it was mean to be, straight out of the 40 oz glass bottle. It is a malt liquor, so one should not expect too much, although I do personally enjoy this stuff. Very sweet aroma. Has a much more refreshing feel and flavor than any other malt liquor that I have ever tried. The one problem that I have with this stuff is that the batches are inconsistent. Some bottles (like the one I am drinking this very second) are absolutely superb, and some bottles are absolutely dreadful. When I originally rated this, my rating for it was much lower. As I am sipping it now, I felt the need to rerate it since it is now of much better quality than the one I had a few weeks ago. I can not decide what the fair thing to do about this stuff is... whether I should give it its highest possible rating or if I should give it some sort of average. It is annoying that you never know whether or not your $3 is going to be worth it until after you have already paid for it. In short, it is better than Budweiser and costs much less. If all you want is some alcohol on your lips in large quantities, this is definitely the stuff to grab.

A: The pour is a clear yellow color with a fluffy white head with surprisingly good retention. S: Sweet corn and grains on the nose are the bulk of the aroma, which is fairly light. Maybe a bit of a straw note, too. T: A nice sweetness to the beer that does not really have any inherent flaws or off-flavors (somewhat of a rarity for malt liquor). Certainly heavy on the adjuncts, but not like eating corn on the cob or anything. M: The body is light with a very lively carbonation. D: Probably one of the better malt liquors and certainly deserving of the Private Stock emblazoned on the label.

Nose is lightly grassy with hints of corn and pale lager grains. Not bad at all. Big ass green bottle with an old school classic looking label. I will give it a 4 for being classic and for being in a huge bottle. The flavor is lightly corny, clean and grainy, some grass. No alcohol, not overly sweet. Super solid malt liquor with the imported taste. I would drink this daily if it was available here.

Can, poured into glass. Light, amber-gold with a foamy though fast-retreating head. Aroma of caramel, corn, light hops. Flavor is sweet, but not overly so like some Malt Liquors, with more corn and caramel. Medium-bodied with strong carbonation. Very smooth and somewhat creamy. This is the best Malt Liquor Iíve ever had.

Tasted from a 40oz bottle. Aroma is a bit grain alcohol-y. Actually looks pretty nice if you pour it into a glass. Flavor is pretty indistinct, with a bit of a gnarly aftertaste. Nice and cold, it is a pretty smooth sipper, itís just that papery aftertaste that kinda kills the experience.

Big head on a light gold pour, and a decent label on the bomber bottle. Not a bad looking beer, really. Mild aroma of yeast and light grain. For a convenience store malt licka, it is not bad. Pretty sugary and bready. Smooth on the tongue, with not a lot of carbonation or hop action. I wonder what the story of this brand is - was it once a local Milwaukee brew? Now it is made by Pabst. A perfectly drinkable cheap brew.

I was so excited to finally try this. The beer pours with a big frothy white head, I couldnít believe my eyes when it actually produced lace and stuck around for most of the glass. Aroma is a little corny but you can certainly detect some hops in there as well. The flavor was about as delicious as it gets for a malt liquor, lightly fruity with distinct hoppy notes and of course some adjunct corny type of stuff. The mouth feel was creamy if a bit thin. I probably went out of my way to make this sound more delicious than what it really is, but Iím trying to accentuate the positive with this one, keep in mind that it is indeed malt liquor and there are a surprising number of pleasantries with this beer.

16 ounce bottle courtesy of DAKNOLE!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, DAKNOLE!!!! What the hell?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Pours a pale yellow color with the thinnest of heads. No retention. No lacing. No nothing. Not too bad an aroma for a malt likka, with typical notes of corn and grass but also with some sawdust and peppery notes. Taste is graininess, corn, caramel, sawdust and light fruity notes. Thin bodied. Not too bad.

16oz green bottle from the local Hannaford. Pours a light yellow translucent body with a quarter inch or less of witeish head. Cereal grains dominate the aroma with a touch of butter. Cereal grains dominate the flavor too, with hints of maltiness, citrus hops. Flavor is very good for the style. Very light in body with ample carbonation makes this a drinkable brew. Overall, an extremely solid malt liquor, much better than others in the style.

strong aroma of "the imported taste", raw oxidation and some sugary, grainy malts. wet and sloppy. flavor however is more crisp, surely the oxidization helps with that but the cardboard from the nose doesnt shine through as well. huge effervescence and crispness make this extremely drinkable for the style.

Blinding golden. No head. Totally clear. This baby is Ug-ly. Kellog’s Corn Flakes. Syrupy mouthfeel. Like drinking plastic. Sweet, cloying, thin. Want to drink this one fast to get it over with and out of the way. Having said that, it is actually fresh and clean but it is marred by its very own spinelessness. It hides its alcohol well and is not so bad at what it does.

Light gold. The head died in quite the hurry. The aroma shows assloads of corn, hints of continental hop, light acetaledehyde and a little bit of higher alcohol harshness. Rather watery on the palate, with some toasted corn and stewed vegetables. Very mild hop bitterness allows the finish to have a hint of dryness, which helps because otherwise it goes down a lot like fizzy corn syrup.

This isnít horrible, but it also is not overly impressive. Sweet aroma of suger and over ripe (one step away from rotting) vegetables. Average yellow pour with weak head that runs away quickly. It doesnít have that "thick" syrupy feel that most malt liquors have. The [almost] 7% ethanol is undetectable. No burn. In fact, for such a somewhat strong beer one could actualy slam this. Mine came in green bottles which is bad. It wasnít skunky, but it was fighting the skunks. Just on the border of skunky, if you know what I mean. Not a great beer, but probably one of the better malt liquor styles on the market today. A tad over priced at $6.49 for a six pack. But to itís credit the bottles are 16 ouncers. Itís not great, but I still recommend you give it a try. You might like it.
