Joules Batch Beer #1019 Golden Gooseberry
Hand-pulled half-pint in the Market Vaults, Tamworth on 13th April 2024. Clean and clear golden body, off-white crown. This isn't a tart Gooseberry beer at all really, hints of Gooseberry but certainly not sour or cheek sucking. I actually quite liked it's subtle flavours and aroma.

Joules Batch Beer #1019 Golden Gooseberry
Cask at Rose & Crown, Stafford. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber witha small scummy off-white head and good lacing. There’s berry fruits and floral hops in the aroma. In the mouth it is quite sweet with some underlying sharpness. Briefly malty at the start, a mix of hops soon shows through, plus gooseberries and hints of autumn fruits and golden syrup. Some bitterness in the dry finish. This is reasonable, but not really my sort of beer.

Joules BAtch Beer #1018 Easy Going English Ale
Cask at Rose and Crown, Stafford. Pours a dark copper with a small foamy off-white head and excellent lacing. There’s malts and biscuits in the aroma. In the mouth it is quite sweet and watery with malts and caramel plus traces of autumn fruits and oranges. Finish is slightly dry and fruity. This is OK, but it’s rather bland to say the least.

Cask pint, hand-pulled in the New Inn, Newport, Shropshire on 11th January 2024. Say what you want to about Joules beers but their pubs are lovely. Always clean, tidy and olde worlde. Anyway this beer came a clean and clear golden colour with a neat, tight snow white head that stayed and gave off some good lacing. Weak fruity aroma and taste, light bitterness and an even lighter malty sweetness. OK, it's OK.

Cask @ Henry Tudor Inn, Shrewsbury. Deep amber pour, good off-white head. Malty rye fruitcake aroma. Smooth palate, flavour profile presents a decent red with teasing fruitcake notes, nice amber malt with an appealing gentle sweetness. Not bad.

Joules Bodega Bay
Keg @ Henry Tudor Inn. Pours clear pale gold, white head. Tropical lilty nose. Nicely tropical bubblegum-sweet character, medium bodied, crisp carbonation. A nice fruity IPA but marked down for not hitting the West Coast style as advertised.

Joules Stone Ale
Keg @ Henry Tudor Inn. Pours a generally clear gold, pure white head. Quite sugary sweet, sherbetty perhaps, something a bit odd about this.. supposed to be a a hop-forward session IPA with grapefruit and pineapple but seems a sugary sweetness attributable to yeast has stolen the show.

Hand-pulled pint at the New Inn, Newport (Shropshire) on 23rd November 2023. Maroon in colour, soft creamy head that stayed throughout the pint. Earthy, nutty and slightly spiced with hints of dried fruits, it's like a Christmassy 'Slumbering Monk'.

Cask at Rose & Crown, Stafford – first Christmas beer of the year. Pours “bitter brown” with a small cream head and good lacing. There’s malts and almonds in the aroma. In the mouth it is quite sweet to start off with flavours of malts, orange peel, raisins and nuts. Some bitterness creeps in later, alongside traces of mincemeat. Finish is slightly sweet and fruity. This is a reasonable ale – I would classify it as “red – spiced” or “rye – spiced” if either of those categories existed.

Joules Batch Beer #1017 Target Golden Ale
Cask at Rose & Crown, Stafford. Pours golden amber with a small almost white head and good lacing. Some autumn fruits in the aroma – but not much else. In the mouth it is sweet and smooth, but with some underlying bitterness. Flavour has floral hops and oranges, plus a dollop of malts as well. Finish is slightly fruity. This is reasonable but not as good as other Joules Batch / Beer Club beers.

Cask at Rose & Crown Stafford (18/9/23). Pours a golden orange with a small foamy off-white head and good lacing. Malts and ranges in the aroma, plus some hints of citrus. In the mouth there is a brief initial burst of bitterness before sweet malts take over. Bitterness creeps back again later though. Flavour has traditional hops and autumn fruits plus a hint of ginger. Finish is dry and slightly sticky. This is quite nice.

Cask @ Shrewsbury Real Ale Festival 2023. Previously also at The King's Arms, Church Stretton where it tasted peppery and warm. Here it was slightly bitter, pouring a deep gold, white head. Gentle caramelised malt base with light honey and soft citrus moments. Ok, just about.
