Fantasy Brewmasters Burdisson's Dwarven Ale
Pours a dark, whiskey-brown color with a short, quickly dissipating tan head. Depthless caramel, chocolate, and vanilla on the nose. Mouthfeel is a little lacking in body. Some chocolate up front. Sorghum appears and some faint bourbon gets folded in. Gets smoky with some coffee emerging at the finish.

Copper colored beer with a thin, white head. Faint aromas of cocoa and toffee. Tastes of bittersweet chocolate, toasted wheat, toffee, caramel, and some woody notes. Hint of hazelnut is present too. Sweet, lactic finish. A bit watery, but it works. I really enjoyed this one, very smooth. Awesome concept and label art to boot.

Black, fragile beige head. Faint aroma, mostly coffee and burnt toast. Oddly light bodied. Roasty notes, then a lightly tart note. Some fruity flavors, too.

12 ounce bottle poured a cloudy brown color with aromas of earth, nuts, caramel, and some light roast. Flavors were sme earthy caramel, and light nuts, not the worst brown ale out there, but not the best either, middle of the road brown ale.

Bottle to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.; thanks burg326). Looks solid; a semi-spaque brown with thin light beige lacing. Smells malty and nutty with a bit of caramel. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Fairly simple, but decent.

A hazed reddish amber ale with a thick mocha head. In aroma, a rather grassy and soapy malt with light licorice and burned wood. In mouth, a grassy caramel with light wooden character, a bit off.

The aroma is nice with nuts, toasted malt, butterscotch, and mixed grains. The appearance is light brown with a small head. The taste is like the aroma and a touch papery and astringent. The palate is average. Overall OK.

Pours hazy brown with an off-white head. Nose is cocoa, tart fruit, and some mild metallic twinge. Flavor is similar- when cold it is a bit cocoa forward with a bit of a funky twist, but as it warms the sour fruit starts to take over. Light to medium in body and lingering sour fruit in the finish.

12oz bottle poured into glass. This was sort of a strange beer for me. The characters of a brown ale were quasi in place but there was this certain flavor I couldn’t put my finger, which sort of ruined the experience for me.

Fantasy Brewmasters Burdisson's Dwarven Ale
Appearance: Dark amber brown, Roasted nut brown. Formidable creamy off white head. Minor lacing. Aroma: Roasted malt, nutty, earthy, minor diacetyl Taste: Big roasted malt taste up front that gives way to the strong embrace of chocolate and nut. Sweet and bold this beer’s flavor awakens images of dark musty taverns crowded with to the brim with Dwarves coming home from a hard, gritty day in the mines. Ends with a dry but still sweet finish and just a tiny twang of sour that asks to be quenched with another sip. Mouth-feel: Light mouth-feel for such a bold brew. This lends considerable credit to the idea of this being a celebrated tavern standard in the lore. Overall: This novelty beer could have been mediocre and the target audience still would have eaten it up. Fortunately this is far from the case; this beer is worth every penny. From first whiff to the last drop Burdisson’s Dwarven Ale meets or exceeds all expectations. The light mouth-feel makes this beer very drinkable but does not detract from the fantastic full bodied flavor. This Dwarven ale’s fanciful lore, packaging, and true-to-character flavor make this a beer that would not be out of place at your next D&D session.

Bottled. Poured medium reddish-orange with a ring of beige head. The aroma picked up molasses, nutty notes, and lightly-soured dark fruits.. maybe a touch of smoke.. not good. The flavor found tart and sour malty notes from the beginning (mostly nutty with some molasses).. sticky on the edges.. ugly, sour finish.. not good. Lighter-bodied and sour.. blech.

At HallingHansen Grand Tasting, thanks for sharing. Pours an unclear and brown beer with a large offwhite head. The aroma is malt, acidity and fruit. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is acidic. Overall this beer could be infected, nevertheless it tastes and smells funny.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy brown with a thin-moderate tan head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left considerable lace. Very weak aroma that is virtually non-existent save a few wisps of malt. The flavor is somewhat grainy malt along with a bit of caramel. Dries out a bit towards the finish with mild-moderate bitterness. Medium bodied.

Bottle thanks to the legendary Hopscotch. Pours a dark clear mahogany brown with medium off-white head. Aroma is surprisingly mild, but caramel, malt, and a slight fruitiness. Taste has quite a bit more to it and makes for a nice drink, matching the aroma well, but adding a bit of chocolate and a slight tanginess toward the end. Finishes pretty dry and a little sweet.

Bottle... Murky, dark brown ale with a mid-sized, fizzy, off-white head. The nose is an intermingling of chocolate, caramel and dark-roasted grains. Full-bodied and lightly creamy with medium carbonation. Nice toasted malt sweetness and good, tasty hop bitterness are accompanied by light smokiness. Finishes bittersweet. Damn nice nut brown ale.
