Staples Mill Lager of Devine Destruction
Thanks to dixonian for sharing this bottle. No. 329. Yellow with a white head. The aroma is full of alcohol, wheat and yeast. The flavor is similar with some grain, grass, booze and floral notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a golden red. Holy hell does this suck. After taste makes me gag. Took multiple sips and it kept getting worse. Just awful. [:31]

Uploading old ratings that were missing comments. This one was very disappointing. Flavors were off and confusing. A pretty big mess. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber. Pale gold pour with a small white head. I’m picking up mosquito spray - not good. Another bad one from this brewery.

Staples Mill Labrys Red Wheat
Bottle. Pour is orange/brown with a white head. Aroma of caramel and citrus. Taste is metalic with some odd breadiness. Can’t really tell that it is a red or a wheat or a red wheat for that matter as the expected elements seem to be missing. The hops weren’t well balanced.

Bottle at dans, courtesy of Aaron. Thanks Man! Poured a brownish lack with a light red tint and frothy tan head. Smell is huge bitter coffee grounds, chili peppers, spice, and peat. Heavy coffee, bitter, smoke, dark fruits, and bourbon in the taste, but very overpowered by the bitterness from the coffee. Not really my thing.

I think this is a bit too dry. If it were a bit maltier/sweeter, I think it would bring out a lot of the coffee flavor. Aftertaste, on the other hand, is decent, giving a nice roasted flavor.

Bottle @ Dan’s house, courtesy of Armin. Thanks a bunch! Deep brown/black appearance with a light brown head. Burnt, ashy, bitter coffee, dry, a touch smoky aroma. Kind of thin. Very ashy, burnt, roasty coffee, lightly boozy/whiskey, caramel, chocolate, a bit fruity flavor. Too bitter and a bit thin.

Aroma: Smells like a meth lab. Not that I have been to one but if I were to go to a meth lab, it would smell like this. Enough said Appearance: looks as bad as it smells. Taste: This is where you enter the meth lab core and snort (or smoke or whatever u do with meth without a high).....It tastes like a chemical waste that a hospital or a pharmaceutical company hauls to the biohazard dumping site. Taste is truely aweful...The aweful chemical bitterness lingers forever......5 forceful sips and down it goes under the sink. I have had hundreds of kinds of beers in my life and was always a firm believer that no matter how bad a beer is, DO NOT throw it away. Its a sin.....But after drinking this god awful beer, my view has totally changed. I have never had a worse beer in my entire 30 years of life. This beer coming from the Minneapolis St Paul area, is a disgrace to great craft breweries in the twin cities and the whole state of Minnesota.

Supplied by deyholla. Thanks, bud. Pours a richly well hazed amber gold hue, healthy good haze with some gentle carbonation. Forthy whitish head dies to a film, laces small. Some flashes of orange. Aromas are dry malts, touches of toast, dough, and gentle earthy hops. Touches of caramel, oxidation, and gentle spice. Initial is a bit oxidized, distinct heaty spirit, some bready malts, dough, toast, crackers. Gentle dry earthy hopping is grass, florals, and gentle yeast. Middle is a touch older, a touch of oxdidation, and gentle sweetness. Finish offers a metallic earthy feel, some yeastiness, gentle older fruit presence. Some subtle grass, florals. Odd, a bit old, a bit hot. I don’t really know what to think of this.. it certainly offered some elements that really distracted me.

All I can say about this one is that I tasted all 5% of the alchohol which isn’t a good thing. I would have thought this was much higher abv except for the thin mouthfeel. This had a wierd slightly sour metallic taste. Its local so I hope they continue to improve.

Staples Mill Labrys Red Wheat
Weird things abound within Labry’s Red Wheat, but none of them are very tasty. Smells like a pilsner rather than a pale ale, a red ale, or a wheat ale. Tastes metallic yet with an odd funky heaviness, almost a briny sweetness, with an aspirin-like hop finish. Nothing brings this beer together, and the hops destroy the subtleties of the wheat. Skip this bottle.

Bottle number 329 of 1000 thanks to Dixonian. Pours with a hazed golden hued body with a small white head. Aromas of frozen peas, DMS, pear, apple, estery, bland with a good amount of acetaldehyde. Cidery. Flavors are of green apples, cider, acetaldehyde, brandy and malty. Lively bubbles, dry finish. Quite the train wreck. Looking at the description, one could have guessed that those flavors wouldn’t meld. Sadly I didn’t get any grappa, or chardonnay, or even a hint of black currant. Might have possibly improved this if it was more characterful instead of being messy.

Staples Mill Isaac Staples Pale Ale
Wonderful pale ale, bordering on an IPA with hop bitterness and especially aroma...a showcase of American hops! Light golden color with a thick white head that had staying power. The yeast is light and fluffy when poured (chico?), so be careful if you don’t have a trained gut. The carbonation is a little low in my opinion. Great beer!

Gold with foamy head. Citrus hops on the nose. Taste - strong citrusy hops on top of a caramel, cereal malt base and some floral notes. Crisp aftertaste, fairly creamy texture. A solid pale ale.

Amber, maybe copper, in color with an off-white head. Wheat and bread are evident on the nose. A bit of metal and acetone, light fruit character, and quite a bit of water. The flavor is kind of watered down. Some malt flavor, minimal (if any) hops, and seltzer water seem to be the main components. A hint of grass in there for good measure.

Staples Mill Isaac Staples Pale Ale
The pour is a pale golden color with a finger or two of white head. Initially an enjoyable hoppy aroma: good citrus and pine notes, maybe even some weed and grass. The subsequent sniffs give a very off, vegetal and herbal aroma. The malt is very pronounced on the palate with the hop flavors being mostly of grass and only a minimal citrus note. Quite bitter for a pale ale, unpleasantly so.

Golden orange in color, a bit dark for a pils, but alright...The nose is quite heavy on the corn with some grain husk and a hint of bleach. As it sits for a moment, a distinct note of lemon drop candies. Fairly sweet overall on the aroma. The flavor has a surprising bitterness, though it seems a fair amount is from grain. Sweet corn and grain flavors with a touch of water.

Bottle from bu11zeye’s 10K tasting. Light pour with a big white head. Aroma is so weak I can’t really get anything but an unpleasant fizz. Taste is nothing but carbonation. The mouth feel is just a bubbly mess. Finish is stinging and awkward. This is, in fact, bottled seltzer water and is an unpleasant mess.

Pour on tap at Winterfest 2012, pour was slightly hazy yellow with thin fizzy white head, aroma brought some odd notes of tannic grapes, slight hint of oak, a weird fruity note with some grass, didn’t quite mix right. Taste was similar, a bit all over the place and no taste strong enough to take the forefront, some slight biscuit and bread with a hint of berry, touch of tart grape, slight tannins, finishing fairly clean.

Pour on tap at Winterfest 2012, dark brownish black pour with thin tan head, aroma has coffee grounds notes, touch of caramel and roasted malts, touch of cocoa, dark fruits, slight bourbon but not much. Taste is pretty heavy coffee and slight bourbon, get some tannic aspects from the bourbon barrel but the coffee mixes into a slightly sweet chocolate, some roast finishes fairly sweet.

Bomber pours a hazy copper with a small white head. Aroma of wheat, slight hop spice, and clay. Tastes like a chemical mix of clay and pottery glaze? WTF. This is only my second beer from this brewer but I think I give up on them until I hear they’ve produced something that is at least drinkable.

Bomber: Pour is slightly hazy reddish copper with a quick medium head. aroma is flat maltiness. getting some malted wheat, something that could be banana-ish ester, and some sourness? Nothing I can identify as hoppiness on the nose per say. Sorry to say it’s under carbonated, flavour is weird and certainly off. carboard-ish flat maltiness. Very little sweetness, somewhat sour caraway seed flavour. Very dissapointing. Hate to have to be the first rating and have it end like this.

Bomber pours golden/orange with a thin white head and lots of bubbles. Aroma of astringent honey, grain, malt, with an all around medicinal sweetness. Taste like organic bug spray and card board. This awful, straight drain pour, I can’t get the chemical taste out of my mouth.

Bottle #752 out of 1000 to snifter. Pours dark brown and has a quick off white soapy head that dissipates to a soapy collar. Aroma is pure coffee grounds with a very faint hidden scent of sweetness. Taste is bitter and dry coffee very strong and some mild hints of wood and vanilla and not much else. Palate is medium with a dry fizzy finish. Not a bad brew, but I felt it lacks a fuller body.
