It poured a brown color with a small white head. The aroma was of raisins, some spices, caramel malts and a little nuttiness. The taste was of dark, bitter fruits and bready malts. Not bad.

22oz bottle. Pours deep ruddy brown with a thick cream head. Aroma is spot-on apple cider. Sweet, tart, raisin, caramel. Aroma matches taste exact. Aftertaste is kind of a bland, generic malt.

Pours a brown plum raisin color aroma is brown sugar, malt, cereal, clove and raisins. Flavor is a dry raisin, fig, and plum flavor carbonation level seems high for the style and body is a bit more carbonated and thin than,it seems the style should be overall , this is a good beer and an enjoyable purchase

Pours a slightly hazy mahogany with a thin khaki head. The nose is of raisins and dark fruit malt notes. On the light side of medium-bodied, the mouthfeel is fairly soft with fine carbonation leading into a surprisingly dry finish for this style. Raisins, dark fruit and a drying astringent burnt malt notes combine into a slightly unconventional flavor profile. While I’m seldom "wowed" by dubbels, this is still a solid beer.

Bomber. Pours medium brown with a smallish white head and slightly hazy. Nose is bit sweet with some nice slightly burnt malt notes. Taste has some fairly sweet maltiness with maybe a hint of candi sugar. Not at all cloying. Fades a bit on the end. Alcohol is a just a bit noticeable at the end. Body is fairly thin for this style. Overall fairly drinkable if not exceptionally memorable. Not bad coming out of the gate.

Bottle… Cloudy dirty-orange ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Good retention. The bouquet is toasty, nutty and biscuity with some candied dates thrown into the mix. Medium to full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. Nutty, caramely, brown sugar flavor. Sweet, but not obnoxiously so. Toasted nut and toffee finish. Bottle courtesy of phaleslu! Nice American dubbel.

Thanks to welosiped for sending this bottle out my way a bit back. Served in a Mikasa goblet. Pours a reddish-copper color that is mostly see through. Initial foamy off-white head falls fairly quickly to a quarter-finger cap without leaving too much lacing. Impressive retention of the cap, however. The nose has a light amount of dark fruits and a bit of caramel. Flavor is far too much sweet red grape and a bit of raisin, along with an odd bitterness on the back-end. Feel is too thin and not chewy enough. Not something I’d come back to. Serving type: bottle

22oz. bottle, dispensed to a Belgian Abbey-style chalice. Lightly sweet, malty aroma of dried fruit, faint cherry and raisin, with notes of dark brown sugar and faint doughy yeast in the background. Mostly clear dark amber-brown in color, with a fine, lasting, ivory colored head. Final pour made things significantly cloudier, this is definitely bottle-conditioned. Flavor is full of dark, dried fruit character, with mild chocolate, faint sweetness, and an emerging spiciness at the finish, which is semi-dry and featuring a blend of toffeeish flavor and lingering, berry-like fruitiness late. Fairly hefty on the palate, but this is mitigated by a moderately high degree of effervescence. Body is medium-full. Eminently drinkable, particularly for the style, easily avoiding the trap of being too sweet. Very interesting first go for Doodle, I have to admit I’m curious to see what else Nick comes to market with next, once this stuff is a bit more established.

While on vacation visiting family in Kansas City I saw this at a grocery store and decided to get it since I’d never heard of the brewery before, turned out to be a pretty decent beer. Pours a dark murky amber color with a moderate sized tan head. Aroma was kind of weak with light notes of toffee and dark fruit. Flavors of caramel, dark fruit (mostly raisin) and spices. Mouthfeel was a bit too thin. Overall a respectable offering from a brand new brewery that should get better over time.

Tasted 4/5/11. 22oz bomber. Hazy with a brown hue and reddish highlights. Aromas of raisins, peppery spices, toasty caramel malts and mildly nutty. Medium bodied with an odd flavor to it. Flavors of dark, bitter fruits and bready malts. Decent hop kick, with a noticeable alcohol burn. Decent.

22 oz. bottle shared by Keir- thanks again, Keir! Pours a cloudy amber color with a small beige head. Aroma of fig, banana, caramel malts, Belgian yeast, and berries. Flavor of Belgian yeast, caramel malts, overripe pit fruits, and dried tobacco leaves. Medium-bodied, with a malty, fruity mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Nice dubbel from a brand new Missouri brewer.

Slightly hazy and brown with a moderate tan foam. In the aroma I detect slight caramel notes, minimal banana and a touch of breadiness. It is very soft and enjoyable on the palate but the flavors don’t really POP. Where are the dark fruits, esters and banana? Maybe a warmer fermentation is needed? There is a lingering bitterness in the finish that I find somewhat distracting and out of place for the style. By no means a bad beer and I think this will improve as Nick fine tunes his efforts. Kudos to him for working so hard in getting this business going!!

22 oz bottle purchased at Royal in Kansas City, Missouri. Pour is a hazed darker orange, hints of ruby along with a one inch tan head that falls pretty quick. Aroma is dark fruit maltiness, and an earthy yeastiness. Taste is plum fruit, a touch of leafy tobacco, some black cherry, along with a bright spicy yeastiness. Quite a bit going on, complex taste but integrated and subtle. I really got quite a bit more out of the taste than the nose. Palate is light bodied, noticeably so for the style, though it does not come across as thin or weak. The light body, along with nice active carbonation, makes this a very drinkable beer. Nice one.
