.. je ne sais plus !! 2.9 Popaire Escorpora 330ml bottle from La Botiga del Barri Vell in Girona pours cloudy amber with little to no head. Subtle aromas of dark malts and earthiness. Malty flavours of burnt toast, yeast, tobacco, a hint of dark fruit and herbal characters. Heavy slightly viscous mouthfeel with medium bitter finish. Not an overly interesting Dubbel Ale. 3.6 Popaire Tramuntana Bottle @ Fogg Birras & Cheese. Pours clear dark brown with a small off white head. Aromas of dried fruit, caramel, wood and vanilla. Flavours of malt, vanilla, wood, caramel and leather. Oily texture. Alcohol well hidden. The score is for the last 20 minutes of the beer. Reminds then more of a barley wine than a brown ale. At first, when the beer came straight out of the refrigerator, it was too sweet and too edgy. Thursday, February 1, 2018

3.5 Popaire Escorpora A beer from the costa brava. Brewed with water from the mediterranean sea in a matter of fact. Brewed by a squidfisher (popaire in catalan) who took the sea as his inspiration and brews his own views on beer. Very lightly carbonated beer, because his girlfriend does not like bubbles. Fruity and summerlike, like the costa brava itself. A little salty aftertaste, left there after the salt was filtered from the seawater. It is not the best beer in the world, but it is the costa brava in a glass of beer. Friday, October 6, 2017
