Abbaye des Rocs La Montagnarde (Ambree)
Bottle from Beer Cartel (33cl). Murky deep amber with a solid dense white head. Notes of banana, toast, alcohol, soft pepper and caramel on the nose. Boozy thick sticky creamy palate with largely sweet malty flavours and a soft spiciness before finishing with an alcoholic burn. Low bitternes. A big rich Belgian dark triple.

Odnajduje tutaj więcej czerwonych i ciemnych owoców. Jeżyny, ciemne winogrona, rodzynki i aronia.
Wysycenie: Wysokie.
Podsumowanie:
Abbaye des Rocs uwarzone zostało jako czysto słodowe piwo. BEZ DODATKU cukru. Użyto aż 7 rodzajów słodów i 3 rodzaje chmielu (belgijski, niemiecki i czeski). Wzorowy przykład Belgian Strong Ale. Perfekcyjnie wyważony, doskonale zbalansowany i bogaty zarówno smakowo, jak i zapachowo. Najbardziej zaskoczył mnie aromat który miał akcenty czekolady i kawy. To nieczęsta sugestia w przypadku BSA. Aromat i smak łączył w sobie masę słodkich nut: toffi, karmel, kawa, słodkie owoce. Piwo pełne, gęste, wyklejające usta i podniebienie.

W aromacie suszone owoce, cukier kandyzowany, podwyższony poziom melanoidyn, mniej karmelu.

Taster at The Mondial de la biere. The color is a dark brown with thick beige head. The taste is sweet and heavy of fruits like cherries and also dark chocolat and herbs with a good serving of malt plus yeast. The aroma is pleasing to the nose and lets you know what is coming in the taste.I enjoyed this beer a lot.

hazy walnut brown colour with a lot of small particles, minimal beige head; aroma of dried cherry (maybe plum and figs, too), dark chocolate, walnut, wet leather and minimal herbal notes; taste is the same with less intensiveness and Belgian yeast notes; almost perfect - if the taste was as intensive as the aroma it would be a magnificient masterpiece...anyway, it’s still brilliant!

1.5l bottle thanks to Lore. Hazy dark orange body with lots of floating sediment. Aroma of caramel, orange zest, figs, raisins and pepper. Taste of candi sugar, orange zest, raisins, dates, cloves and some floral hops. Very smooth beer. Based on the aroma it seems to be stronger, but the taste is not boozy. Awesome beer.

Massive gusher, lost half the 330ml bottle to my lounge room. The beer is fairly good - caramel, bready, belgian yeast - but can’t make up for that level of gushing. Disappointing.

Abbaye des Rocs La Montagnarde (Ambree)
330mL bottle from International Beer Collector. BB 28/08/2017 Pours a murky sort of pale bronze body, foamy head. Aroma is quite intense - peppery, clovey phenolics, bread dough, biscuity caramel malt, has a medicinal red berry fruit sort of note - not sure if its hop or yeast derived? Syrupy smooth creamy sort of texture, big without being cloying or evidently potent. Carbonation subdued. Flavour is quite sweet upfront - lots of caramel, overly ripe stonefruits, sweet bread crust, savoury spice & black pepper, has a sort of lifted citrus note lingering brings a sense of balance to the beer. A solid Belgian strong for sure - maybe expecting more from a 9%er?

Gushing. Brown colour, clear, but there’s lots of yeast, quite nice creamy head. Very high carbonation. Aroma: biscuits, caramel, bread, some wionous notes, yeasts, spices, clove, toast, green apple, alcohol after warming. Full body, lots of sweetnes, but there’s also some fruity sourness. Lots of yeast in flavour, some clove, ester fruits. Low bitterness, in the end some earthy notes and alcohol (nice covered when cold, aleter becoming annoying).

A bottle that has been lying around for several years. It says "Brasserie des Rocs." I remember being unimpressed with this originally and put aside a couple bottles for a few years. A cloudy brown with small beige head, a ton of large particulate matter. Aroma sugary malt, caramel, chocolate, subtle toasted nuts. Medium body, lightly carbonated, a touch of alcohol. Flavor is moderately sweet but finishes dryer. Caramel, dark fruits, maybe a little dry hops, figs. Not sure if the original bottle I had wasn’t good or if it’s improved with age but this is quite nice.

W aromacie głównie suszone i kandyzowane owoce, jasne winogrono, porto, karmel i stary chmiel.

Aroma: raisins, plums, banana, alcohol, dark caramel, strawberry (pretty sure that’s aromatic malt), doughy, some biscuit, molasses?. Appearance: dark red, very cloudy, off white head with good retention. Quite the gusher though, impossible to pour nicely in the beginning- all of the yeast got resuspended and is in little flakes inside the glass. I don’t know what to say as this was really unexpected. Taste: same notes as in aroma but with more prominent alcohol warming, quite sweet, some more dark caramel, gentle roast, nonexistent bitterness, honey-strawberry taste that I adore from the aromatic malt. The rest is the same and quite interesting, complex. medium body, creamy, slick feel, lively, long sweet finish with some lingering aromatic malt, dark fruits leftovers. Equisite. Overall: A sipper with amazing complexity, I can see coming back to this beer for more, despite its significant alcohol warming and sweetness which are not really faults but move away from the typical belgian "drinkability and slight dryness" of dubbels/brunes. Apart from that the presentation is its only fault due to the significant gushing and resuspending of the yeast.

Abbaye des Rocs Triple Impériale
330ml bottle. Pours a hazy deep ruby, with a large light beige head, which lasts well and leaves good lacing. The aroma offers savoury, almost Vegemite-like notes, combined with tart berry and hints of spice and oak. There is a bit of funk up front, with plenty of spice, giving way to perhaps a touch too much alcohol heat in the mid-palate, although there are plenty of dark berry, red wine flavours going on. The finish sweetens, with a port aftertaste. A good Belgian ale, perhaps could be a bit more subtle on the alcohol, but otherwise very pleasant.

Abbaye des Rocs Brune
750 mL bottle shared by ebone1988. Vintage 2013. The pour is a ruby or copper with an absolute ton of light brown chunklets floating about. There is a nice thick ring of light khaki head and a little bit of bubbly lace as it falls down. The aroma it is a little tart. There is a nice maltiness to it. There is a good bit of brown sugar and a little spiciness that really comes through on the back end. It’s nicely balanced, with a hint of tartness that I can’t really place. The flavor is very bi-directional. It’s sweet and carries a light dark fruit up front and it morphs through to a ton of breadiness. It finishes like a Belgian strong should, but there is just bready malts. I was hoping for a little more complexity in this one. The mouth feel is pretty decent. There is a nice thick creaminess to it, but it is a little over carbed. The aftertaste is bready and carries a little malty spice to it. This one could be great, but the chunklets just take too much away.

Bottle shared with koleminer20. 2013 vintage. Aroma is dark fruit, raisins, slight tartness, apples, spices, really nice. Appearance is red brown, light tan head, TONS of sediment in an otherwise clear beverage. Taste is bready, sweet malt, dark fruit, raisins, overwhelmed by the breadiness. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, lots of sediment and the standard bitter Belgian Strong aftertaste. Overall, I bet this beer would?ve been something fresher. Still, fine for the style.

Maku on selvemmän hedelmäisempi, ainakin alkuun. Luumua ja rusinaa on raikkamman päärynän tai vastaavan joukossa, loppua kohden jyhkeä maltaisuus tulee tasapainottamaan hedelmäisyyttä. Suutuntuma on hyvin hiilihappoinen ja melko täyteläinen, muttei hiveän makea. Laadukas ja riittävän monipuolinen vahva belgi. Hieno siemailuolut.

Bottle. Trappist glass. Brownish with light borwn, semi-densed head, poor head retention and lacing. Nice and deep dried, black fruits aroma - mainly plums and raisins, which are dominant. You can also find here some brown sugar and spices (cloves, lightly cinnamon). Taste lightly sweet, it’s more like the quadrupel, but not so malty. Medium body, lively carbonation, creamy texture, finish is semi-dry, spicey and lightly bitter. In overall this beer is clean in it’s style with predominant malty and spicey character.

Piana początkowo obfita i sycząca, szybko opada do chmurki. Barwa złoto pomarańczowa, mętna. W aromacie odrobina pomarańczy, ziół i starego chmielu. W smaku na szczęście dużo lepiej - kandyzowaną i morelową słodycz dopełnia niewielka cytrusowa kwaskowatość. Na finiszu ziołowa nuta i niewielka chmielowa goryczka. W afterteasie papaja i guma balonowa. Średnie nagazowanie, półpełne w odbiorze.
Całkiem fajny, mało pszeniczny, dość mocny a zarazem nieźle pijalny, wit. Minusem jest niewątpliwie nieprzyjemny zapach zwietrzałego chmielu.
