Amber color with tan head, with floatees. Aroma is prunes, figs, phenolic, toffee, no dark malts in the sense of coffee, just the dark fruits. Taste is prunes, toffee slight tartness, phenolic and tart finish. Typical high carbonation. I have high expectations of Des Rocs, and this did not disappoint - Awesome!

Abbaye des Rocs Grand Cru 3.8
Bottle, BB 31.03.2017. 9.5%. Seems like this one is meant for the US market, it’s got a white and purplish blue label. Pours just like the Montagnarde I had yesterday - featuring tons of unattractive floaties that refuse to drown. The beer itself is darkish coppery brown with a rather fast receding light beige head. The aroma’s sweet, but fruity rather than sugary, although there’s a lot of caramel, and dark fruits... dates rather than prunes. Somewhat chocolaty even. Tastes along the same lines, sweet upfront, but not sugary, with a bitterish continuation. Chocolate notes and almonds. Somewhat sticky in the mouth, although the finish is a bit dry and perhaps even slightly metallic. The alcohol only comes through as a restrained warmth - otherwise it’s well covered. Overall a very nice wintery warmer. Would love some juicy roast beef to go with it.

Abbaye des Rocs La Montagnarde (Ambree) 3.8
Bottle; BB 17.10.2016. Pours a very murky coppery amber with a fast dissipating head. It’s insane how full of floaties the beer is, despite my careful pour, and the bottle having sat still for at least a month! Anyway. The aroma is wonderful, fulsome, there’s a load of prunes and other dark fruits soaked in port wine and covered in warm, liquid caramel, and toffee. Tastes as good, but a new layer of bitterness is added, plus a nice warming spiciness. Just enough sweet - luckily it lacks the overly sugary character of too many strong Belgians. Crisp in the mouth, dryish in the finish. Would happily sip this the whole evening. Excellent brew. I love l’Abbaye des Rocs.

Abbaye des Rocs Blanche des Honnelles (Blanche Double) 2.9

Medium body, some sweetness, low bitterness, fine soft carbonation, mild acidity. Fairly sweet and earthy, strange wit.

Abbaye des Rocs La Nounnette (Blonde) 1.6
Aroma (bottle): Baking yeast. Aroma (glass): First of corn then a hint of champagne. First impression, tastes like dirt. After a few sips the brew is still not enjoyable. Avoid

Abbaye des Rocs Blanche des Honnelles (Blanche Double) 3.9
Blanche più corposa del solito. Aroma erbaceo, speziato, retrogusto lievemente amaro (liquirizia). Meno acquosa delle altre blanche, complesse sensazioni boccali.

Abbaye des Rocs Blanche des Honnelles (Blanche Double) 3.1
From 0,33l bottle, BBD: 05/11/2017 bought at Damian Bottle Shop, Bratislava. Pours dark golden to light amber liquid, medium frothy white head, fell down quite quickly, Aroma: wheat, clove, spicy - peppery, minor banana notes in the background, Taste: light to medium sweet, light bitter, light to medium sour, citrus, wheat, lemon, clove, spicy, white wine, Palate: medium body, average carbonation, slick mouthfeel, long lemony spicy aftertaste, Overall: No really my cup of tea. Quite light bodied in comparison with the real alcohol strength, spicy, sour, dusty feel.

Appearance: pours clear dark brown with short lived off-white soapy head and lacing. aroma/taste: brown sugar, chocolate, dried fruits, alcohol, spices, palette: strong malty and yeasty aroma, average to sparkling carbonation, full body, notable sugar sweetness, somewhat balanced by a medium bitterness, long duration and an oily texture. Nuit Étoilée 2.7

Abbaye des Rocs Blanche des Honnelles (Blanche Double) 3
Pours a pale copper colour with big white head which soon goes. Aroma of peanuts, yeast, spice. Taste is quite subdued, medium sweet and light but lightly bitter. Taste doesn’t linger. Might be more enjoyable on a warm summer’s day but not bad!

Abbaye des Rocs Blanche des Honnelles (Blanche Double) 2.9
Yeasty wheat citrus lemon rind on the nose. Very carbonated. Light citrus, sweet breads, creamy malts. Finish isn’t bad but it’s quite abrupt. Was very excited at the idea of a "dubble wit", but it’s not especially different than an average wit. Less flavor. After the finish has some sweet creamy peach flavor. Not bad, but not the best wit either.

Riktigt gott.
