Schumacher Alt
Tap @ Im Golden Kessel, Düsseldorf. Pours a slightly paler dark red brown than Uergie’s. Large bubbled head with some yellowish brown to it. Aroma is fairly mild. Taste is somewhat fruity, dark malt, slight herbal, light earthiness. Dries up on the finish. Definitely a different take than Uerige.

Draft at the brauhaus. Clear amber brown with a medium off white head. Aroma of malt, bready notes, light caramel and light dark fruits. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Light bodied with light carbonation. Quite enjoyed this one, my favourite alt of my visit to Düsseldorf.

Nice hoppy nose for an altbier, grapefruit and slight pine. Taste hoppy too while still staying ckassic altbier. Grassy herbal finish. Definitly cascade in there, untypical for an altbier. I like this one much!

Old rating, on cask at Schumacher Oststr. Smooth nice malty beginning. Not as deep as their normal Alt. Round and smooth with a round and fresh malty dark body. Nice high level of bitterness, intense malty with a not too thin but nice refreshing bitter malty aftertaste.

A bit of a letdown after the Alt. Still bready and nutty, but less hoppy. A bit sweeter, and some minerally aspects. Light palate, drinkability very high. Finish dry and a bit woody, but lacking the character of the previous beer, too much minerally water.

Mahogany, large bready head. Head tastes utterly delicious, Super fruity aroma. Refreshing palate. Amazingly fruity taste, nutty too, a bit woody. Absolutely lovely brew, attenuation perfect, hopping gently metallic and vapoury in the finish, some dry nuttiness too. Makes you want another one, which is the best thing a beer can do.

Sehr "kölsches" Alt. Verhältnismäßig mild, sehr ausgewogen. Leichte Süße und Karamell, zudem feine Hopfenbittere, nicht zu stark. Süffig!

Draught at the brewpub. Just ad pillowy soft as the basic Schumacher, a bit less bitter. And above all, exceedingly fruity, with strawberries followed by cherries. Together with the aroma hops this creates an impression of vanilla scented cherry pipe tobacco. Very well structured and harmonic. Excellent stuff.

1 l bottle from De Bierkoning, bottled in November 2015 (4 days old !). Clear, amber with a medium large, foamy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Sweetish, fruity-grassy, slightly resiny aroma of candied orange, apricot jam, caramel, hay and hints of pine. Sweetish, fruity-grassy taste of orange, caramel, nuts, hay and minimal hints of pine, followed by a short, medium bitter and grassy-hoppy finish. Thin to medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation. Superbly balanced, highly drinkable and refreshing Altbier. I expected the hops to shine even more but this beer remains true to its style. Very decent stuff.

1l Swing Top Bottle.

Well, I suppose if I wrote comments about Alt-Bier from Duesseldorf, they wouldn’t be neutral. I just love the Alt-Bier from Duesseldorf. They are simply next to none. So, I judge all the beers from "Altstadt Duesseldorf" equally.

The beer has a beautiful dark amber color and a slightly of-white layer of rough foam. The beer is crystal clear. The beer has a fresh smell. It has a nice amount of bitterness and a spicy touch. There is also a tiny refreshing sourness in the smell. The taste is equally nice. There is a nice little hoppy taste on the back of the tongue. Overall the beer has a lot bitternes. The beer gives a nice tingling sensation in the mouth. Really nice beer, I am gratefull i had the opportunity to try this one.

Appearance: Dark, clear amber. Some light tan head.
Aroma: Malt, not sure much else. Slight yeast?
Taste: Dark malt, toasted. Smooth and easy drinking. Based on my experience I don’t recommend drinking a full bottle of this with an Indian lentils dinner due to enormous gas production. Almost lost a few friends the next day...
Bought: Trade with Erzengel - thanks!, 1000 ml
