Big Island Overboard IPA
This was a great ipa on the mellow side that didnít overpower the beer too much. I had a different malt flavor.

Big Island Overboard IPA
Tap @ Hapuna Beach Hotel 8/1/16. A deep brownish amber color with a white head. I almost did not take this for an IPA. It was rich in malts, somewhat sweet, had a Belgian sweetness to it but at the end of the day just enough hops to balance it out and keep it interesting. Not an IPA I would return to but interesting enough on its own.

Big Island Holy Humulus
Clear orange color with a beige head. Sweet malts, orange marmalade, treacle, citrusy hops. Sweet, tangy, mineraly....has a sweet citrus follow, like a kids breakfast cereal that fades to a bitter aftertaste. Light carbonation, alcohol noticeable in the aftertaste, warming. Not bad but didnít make any noticeable impression on me.

On draft at the brewpub. Light orange in colour with moderate carbonation. Aromas are of burnt orange peel, and hefty Munich malts. Flavors are of orange wine gum candies, sweet pale malts, a bit of toast and black pepper. Heavy bodied. Flavorful, but a bit of an old school APA.

Big Island The Halfling IPA
On draft at the brewpub. Gold in colour with moderate carbonation. Good hop aromas of white grapefruit, mild tropical melon and cut grass. Flavors are more malt based than expected with elements of whole wheat bread dough and grain husk blending with some mild citric notes. Decent overall, but definitely smelled better than it tasted.

Big Island Red Sea of Cacao
Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (chocolate, caramel), with notes of vanilla, honey. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Another nice entry from this competent brewery, even though I feared this would be a train wreck due to all the goofy adjuncts. It is certainly heavy-handed with chocolate and vanilla, but itís hard to deny that it smells enticing. Canít tell thereís molasses, peppercorns, or salt in it, which is probably a good thing. Rich and sweet but still balanced well, especially considering the weight. Well-hidden alcohol as well. Overall kinda novelty-ish, but I freely admit I drank pretty much the entire bomber happily.

Big Island White Mountain Porter
Rich dark brown coloured body with a thinnish light brown head. Aroma of grapes, macadamia nuts, roasted malt and a touch of cream - nice and strong. Medium-bodied; Strong sweetness up front from the macadamia nuts, toasted malt, chocolate, coffee and even some from lactose noticeable. Aftertaste shows some good body with the roasted malt standing out along with a bit of the coffee. Overall, a nice and rich beer that has a lot of layered sweetness and finishes with some tropical fruits like coconut and light coffee. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Tamuraís Market in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii on 31-December-2015 for US$8,99 (I wouldnít pay ~$12 in Waikiki) sampled in my condo here in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii on 02-January-2016.

Big Island Golden Sabbath
Relatively clear orange and light copper coloured body with a faint, single centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of honey, flowers, yeast, coriander seed and a touch of curacao. Medium-bodied; Slightly malty flavour with some honey, yeast, bread, grain and a bit of a citrus note - not too much going on here, and aside from the sweetness, nothing as for complexity. Aftertaste is sweet - honey and caster sugar with a touch of fruitiness and a light coriander seed freshness. Overall, not too great, but a welcome variance from the IPAs that Iíve been having here in Honolulu. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from ABC Stores (Lewers Street between Kahlia and Helumoa (under an underpass) in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii for US$10,95 on 28-December-2015 sampled a day later in my hotel room here in Waikiki on 29-December-2015.

From bottle in less-than-appropriate flanged glass in room at Hilton Hawaiian Village. In spite of this, it was quite a smooth, enjoyable drop. Cloudy amber with fleeting head. More creamy malt than hop-driven putting it in the minority of the IPA community. Still, it was quite nice.
