Indie Alehouse Instigator Pale Ale
On tap at Beaus Oktoberfest. Sweet strawberries and pineapple aroma, with moderate sweet light caramel malt. Hazy dark gold under a persistent, lacy, white sheet. Grapefruit and resinous flavour balanced perfectly by light caramel malt backbone, which is likewise balanced by an assertive grapefruit peel bitterness. Medium light body, medium carbonation, crisp with bitterness.

500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a cloudy golden colour with average-sized, lasting white head. Aroma is barnyard character, bright tropical fruit, grains and a little woodiness. Flavour has lots of vinous and tropical fruit character, some barnyard funk, cereal grains and subtle barrel. Some modest bitterness in the finish. Good one.

There is a really big nice funky aroma, ripe fruit, roasted smell, acidic character, got that mixed light acidic and heavier palate, flavour is nice and funky with a roast finish. Not bad enjoyable wild ale.

So good. Loving the brett IPAs all over, this is top 2 or 3 for sure. Has the freshness of an IPA and hop aroma and the funky tang and straw notes of the brett. Could not find out what hops they used, but was a perfect match to the brett. Praying this is not a one off.

Tapped at the brewery. Dark ruby hazy thick color. Beige thick soapy head. Aroma of sour cherries, red wine, blueberry juice. Taste mirrors the aroma plus super dry sour fruits. Dry like toothpaste, a bit mint. Bitter hops and light espresso aftertaste. A crazy beer, refreshing. Alcohol hidden. Medium body. Overall not bad at all.

2016-09-17. Hazy pastel yellow body with a small white head. 3+ Aroma has an interesting mix of fruit and cereal pale malts. Flavour is a bit sharp on first sip. Really interesting fruit melange, vinous undertones. Sort of guava like tropical fruit, white wine in the finish. Moderate bitterness throughout, light alcohol. Average bodied palate, moderate carbonation. Pretty nice. 7/3-4/7-8/3/16+ On tap at C’est What, Toronto.

Indie Alehouse Grendel’s Revenge
My new fav beer, reminds me of visits to Belgium, where the tart and funky sharp aroma also comes back in the aftertaste but in-between is a mix of sweet and sour and wine and wood and everything great. So glad I bought 4 bottles, because this will age really well. The BIG bottle is perfect with diner guests and a bit too much all on my own. Cork was hard to get out as well, but that could be me. This is the beer I want to find in a small glass at the best beer bars, not another saison.

Not usually a porter person, but this is always a consistent great beer and a great bottle to have in the fridge. Dark chocolate brown in colour and notes, has some coffee hints and roast - but smooth, so smooth. Could convert me to porters if they all tasted this good.

My fav beer at the brewpub. Always fresh, such a big grapefruit aroma and punch - goes with their amazing food. Clean bitter finish leaves me wanting another every time.

Loved this. And as usual it will only be a one off and gone soon. Why? Great aroma and complex straw-wheat flavours with lots of yeast character and clean aftertaste. Barrel notes are very light, but overall a top beer from one of my fav places to drink. Plan to age a bottle and drink the rest now.

Indie Alehouse Spadina Monkey (Pineapple)
Bottle from the brewpub. Not a complex beer, by any means. It smells like pineapple, and the flavour is sour, then pineapple. But it is incredible drinkable. To point out that it could use a little bitterness or booziness in the finish is nitpicking.

Bottled 20160523. Smells like cantalope, some sour grain, maybe a bit of grass? Lots going on. Pours ugly and chunky, lots of sediment, gold, white head. Went down easier than expected. Some metallic (not bad) notes in the aftertaste with quite a strong wheat flavour. Not very sour, just a slight prickle on the tongue. Some orange up front. Actually enjoy this more than most wits I’ve had, great mouthfeel, but wouldn’t advertise it as sour.

2016-08-05. Hazy orange body with a modest off white head. 3+ Aroma is fruity, mixed berries, and light yeast. Alternates between very enjoyable and not something I really want more of. 7/3/7/3/14 On cask at Indie Alehouse, Toronto.

On tap at Wvrst. Pours a hazy golden colour with solid white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma has watermelon and a bit of an odd sour note that I can’t really describe but that doesn’t do it for me. Sourness seems more muted in the flavour which has pleasant watermelon note. Body on the lighter side. Ok.
