jjsint	3.6 Imperial Stout Wi' Nowt Tekkn' Owt (6%) Gravity cask at the 2022 Rutland CAMRA Festival, Rutland County Museum, Oakham. Brownish Black with an off-white head. Big black malts in the aroma with dollops of chocolate fudge. Sweet chocolate taste, turning slightly more balanced toward the end but never bitter. Aroma is moderate malty, dark malt, chocolate, candy - sweet candy, raspberry, cake. Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration, chocolate, cake, sweet candy, raspberry, to me a bit artificial. Martinsh	3.9 Imperial One for the Road Cask at Old Bell, Derby – specially brewed for them, but may be a rebadge Pours a medium reddish brown with a small cream head. Nose has both fruit (redcurrants, strawberries) and nuts. In the mouth it is grainy with red fruits and just a hint of ginger. Finish is bitter but then the fruit shows through. This is a really good bitter – nice and drinkable. NB Untappd says it is 4.2% and a brown ale, but all the people who drank it said it was a bitter, and the pump clip says 4.3% … Sunday, March 22, 2020

In the mouth it is sweet and fruity, with dark fruits, chocolate and caramel. Finish is malty. Not a wildly exciting stout, but certainly pleasant and very easy drinking for its strength. Dark, dark brown, a bit muddy/hazy, with a ring of khaki head. Chocolate malt aroma with molasses and Marmite notes. It's a sweet beer, but not overly so. There's an earthy bitterness anchoring the taste. Slate, biter cooking chocolate and espresso in the aftertaste. A typical strong English porter (and all the better for it). Friday, June 28, 2019
