Double Trouble Revenge of the Ginger
Can. Cloudy, darker amber pour with a small beige head. Aroma is ginger and caramel, some candy sweetness with a touch of citrus zest. Taste is caramel malt with a big hit of ginger, hints of hops but largely sweet and gingery. An interesting concept, but not very balanced and the flavour doesn't come together.

Double Trouble Prison Break Breakout Pilsner
A dense white head on a light golden body. The nose is enjoyable with elements of cereal, honey, and hay. As expected, Pils malts are in the forefront of the taste profile, with some extra fruity hops, dry grass, honey and roasted cereal blended in. A slight metallic taste is a bit odd, but doesn’t diminish the success of the overall taste.

Pale red in color, hint of ginger to start with a bit of malts and hops to finish, not a big fan but then again I’m not a huge ginger fan

Double Trouble Revenge of the Ginger
Can poured into Bell’s tulip glass. Dark orange/red body, lasting foamy off-white had, and nice lacing. Attractive. Sweet malt, ginger, vanilla aroma. Taste is dominated by ginger, but balanced by hops, some heat, rich sweet malts. I normally don’t like ginger, especially not ginger beers, but I wouldn’t call this a ginger beer, per se, as it’s a real beer with ginger in it. Pretty good.

Double Trouble Fire in the Rye
Can from Sobeys. Pours a dared copper, off white almost khaki head, lots of head and lacing left behind. Nose is sweet, caramel, biscuit, sugary, a little tropical fruit. Tastes sweet, caramel, not as bitter as I would expect, a little spice from the rye. Pretty decent.

Can: Poured alight black color stout with a large light brown foamy head with good retention. Aroma of nice floral coffee notes, with some hazelnut and chocolate notes also prevalent. Taste is a nice mix between floral coffee notes with limited bitterness, hazelnut and light black chocolate notes with hints of residual sugar notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. I wasn’t expecting much but this is a pleasant surprise.

Pours dark reddish brown with a moderate off white frothy top. Aroma is spicy rye with earthy pine hop. Taste a really nice balance between the spicy and light toasting of the malt from the slow bitterness from the pine and earthy hops.

can. Poured murky, deep amber with tan head. Sweet aroma, grainy with ginger notes. Light-medium body, a bit watery with an astrigent mouthfeel. Sweet caramel malt with some spicy notes, flavour of apricot and peppery ginger or maybe it’s from the hops. Either way beers with ginger aren’t my favorite style. Meh!

I should've known to be wary of this stuff when I saw "natural vanilla flavours". For all I know that could be beaver anal glands....or something. Vanilla dominates the nose and taste. There's some coffee too (tough to discern French press in a BEER but whatever) but the whole is watery, and kind of tastes like a Vanilla Coke. Meh ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Double Trouble French Press Vanilla Stout
Pours a dark brown colour with a big frothy mocha-coloured head, good retention and some thick foamy lace. Big aromas of soft vanilla over chocolate that comes out eventually and hints of roasted malts in the background. The coffee comes out a little more in the taste, but mostly blended with the roasted malts in the finish. The vanilla is quite light here as well. Hints of dark fruits. Wet mouthfeel with a slight tart from the coffee particles. Goes down very well, with a sweet vanilla nose, but a more coffee-bitter flavour. A flavoured stout you can have many.

Double Trouble French Press Vanilla Stout
Black, unfiltered stout pours out of the can like coffee grounds out of the bottom of the pot and leaves a spongy brown foam. Lots of chocolate cake and vanilla aromas upfront and smells of sweet icing sugar. Bitter chocolate flavour with a light licorice spiciness with cherry cordial. Lingers on the palate, well balanced with and then finishes the way it starts cordially bitter, but balanced and fulfilling.

Double Trouble French Press Vanilla Stout
Beautiful black body, with an off-white head that is just thin enough to cost it a point in the appearance category. The aromas are outstanding, with beautiful vanilla, and an underlying foundation of bitter coffee. The mouthfeel is a touch thin, helping to keep this one out of the 9 out of 10 category. The tastes are vanilla, and bitter coffee. Hints of dark chocolate too. Overall, this is a very enjoyable stout, but like a loud out fly ball to the warning track that doesn’t quite leave the park, it falls just short of the upper echelon of stouts. I’d drink it again though. With pleasure.

One finger creamy mocha head fades to a ring around the glass. Vanilla, cocoa, light roast aroma. Coffee much stronger in the flavour, ash, much less vanilla than in the aroma. Light creaminess, slightly acrid with light astringent drying finish. A little extra sweetness would be a nice complement.

2015-10-02. Crisp pale yellow body, headless. Aroma is modestly fruity, lightly earthy fruity pear and apple notes. Flavour is on the sweet side. Fruity apple and pear. Just a bit of rough earthy pear in the undertones. Smooth average bodied palate, low carbonation. Simplistic but tasty. On tap at C’est What, Toronto.

Double Trouble Hops and Robbers IPA
It’s not too often that I see my regulars giving a higher rating for a beer than the crowd, but in this case a 3.3 from Freaky_tiki makes it interesting. This beer was chosen for my by my daughters as a birthday present, so take note cartoons on a can are a real draw fro 3 and 5 year old girls. Pours a rich, clear golden with a reliable finger of head. Nose is very malty with sunny hay with syrup in the nose that overlays any hops. Taste is equally heavy on the malts, with mild sweetness and heavier on the bittering hops which linger. Not much of an IPA, especially by today’s hop-bomb standards, but drinkable. I suppose it’s training wheels approach to hops is the sessionable part of this beer, rather than the booze level. Personally I don’t care about the IBU if they are well balance, as I’ve given hop-adverse folks hop-bombs that they love, so maybe training wheels shouldn’t be necessary.

Double Trouble Revenge of the Ginger
Can from LCBO. Crisp, spicy, dried and sugared ginger aroma. Pretty nice! The flavour though is less attractive, it’s certainly gingery but pretty modestly so, with a - what I now perceive as Double Trouble trademark - earthy-dirty bitter finish. Creamy soft mouthfeel with modest carbonation.

Double Trouble Hops and Robbers IPA
Can from LCBO. Pours a near clear amber with a modest off-white head. The nose is earhy hops, very faint fruits. The same strange (yeasty?) note I got from their Prison Break Pilsner - not a fan of that. Taste is fruity sweet and slightly bitter-like, with an earthy-dirty bitter finish. Slightly watery with moderately active carbonation. It’s a disappointment. Not really related to the commercial description on the can.
