3.3 Bienen Fischer St. Ambrosius Met Courtesy of Marko Measured Final Gravity: 1020 Dull amber color. The aroma is heavily oxidized; and spiced, like Indian food, lightly soapy. It’s medium-sweet, fairly alcoholic; the spices are prominent yet quite interesting, maybe because they combine with some of the oxidisation. The mead itself is hidden by the spices. Not my favorite sub-style, but quite well made. Monday, May 26, 2014

2.8 Bienen Fischer St. Ambrosius Met 09/12 Marko’s 0.375l bottle, thanks for sharing! It poured golden body with no head and medium sized legs. Propolis, herbal honey and medicinal aroma. Lighter herbal flavor, more bitter than sweet with thinner body and longer, slightly warming finish. Although it had some potential, it was certainly the simplest and least quality mead of the day. 3.1 Bienen Fischer St. Ambrosius Met Bottle from Julius Meinl, Wien. Golden body, nice legs. Sweet, pungent nose, dominated by spiciness (thyme?). The spiciness dominates the sweetish taste too, not leaving much else, the honeyish, slightly caramelly background isn’t that exciting. It’s nice but rather onedimensional. Quite warming. Overall, not as exciting as the pricetag suggested it should be. Might try it again. Tuesday, December 6, 2011
