Brilliant, clear orange-amber. Woody and citrusy. Doesn’t feel heavy at first, but later has a nice dose of sugars in the back. The maple syrup shows up first and last. Either has threshold diacetyl or some strange flavors from the maple syrup (which I don’t think is bad in this beer) - I can’t tell. Unique. I happen to like it.

On tap at City Beer. A more or less red one, clear, and with a small off-white head. Butterscotch notes in the aroma, with some sweetness and dried fruits. Very soft on the palate, semi dry and pleasantly carbonated. Some butterscotch in the flavor too, with prunes, dried apricots and some anise notes. Finishes more or less like it starts. Not my kind of raison, that’s for sure. 130805

Pacific Brewing Laboratory Red Triangle
On tap. Dark reddish copper brown with a creamy white head. Skunky, wet grain, and roasty aroma. Bright silky palate. It’s brewed with kelp. Ok. So what the fuck does kelp taste like? It’s got a smokey burnt pumpkin sort of taste, which makes this an interesting brew. Notes of caramel, grain, sugar, and more burnt stuff come through on the finish. This one gets points for being interesting and fairly enjoyable.

On tap. Pours with a lightly hazed orange to golden hued body with a retentive white head. Aromas are grainy, straw, light dried fruit, mild acidic, floral or funky a bit. Citrus peel, blood orange, ginger and medium phenol. Almost a bit vinous. Flavors show a bit of a soft funky quality, medium phenol, grainy, mild acidity, hibiscus, vinous, herbal, lightly citrusy. Lower carbonation that I would have liked to see, but otherwise quite a tasty beer.

On tap. Pours with a near black hued body and a lasting tan head that leaves good lace. Aromas are perfumey, roasty, herbal, citrus, pine and grassy. Overall light roast, medium to strong hop, low ester. Flavors are of fresh baked bread, doughy grainy malt character, medium roast, fuller pine character but a smooth, low-cohumulone bitterness. Grassy finish. Medium strong carbonation a bit fuller bodied. Feels a bit soapy in the finish.

Almost black in color with a tan head. Roasted malt up front with a really strong fruit character. Lots of grapefruit, tangerines, lemon, and peach. There’s a bit of malt sweetness, and a light pine note. A bit of grass and Jolly Rancher on the palate. Some mild roast, a definite bitterness, and some sweet peach. Lots of lemon, tangerine, and grapefruit.
