From Hoppily, Leigh-on-Sea. Pours black with a small frothy beige head. Aroma of milk chocolate, chocolate crunch with chocolate custard (school dinner style), cocoa, nutmeg, nut. Medium sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness, touch of tart. Medium body, slight creamy texture, soft carbonation. Lovely aroma and look but it didn't completely follow through. yngwie	3.9 Moncada / Haand Bryggeriet Big Ole Beer Bottle. It pours almost black in the glass, topped by a dense, brown head. The aroma has some spiced notes, cinnamon standing out, along with coffee, dark chocolate, brown sugar, roasted malts and caramel sauce. It's full-bodied, sweet, sticky and smooth on the palate, with a soft carbonation. The flavor found in the nose weren't present in the flavor, else it's pretty much the same. Some vanilla notes showing up though. Roasted malts, caramel sauce, dark chocolate and some brown sugar, and a light touch of cinnamon. Lasting finish. A very pleasant one indeed, sort of like a pastry stout only more balanced. Tasteful, complex and more or less easy drinkable. 190503 Monday, May 10, 2021

Light tropical fruit aroma, some gentle malt notes, a pleasant floral character. Sweet taste with just a hint of bitterness on its way out, leading to a drier finish. Aroma of charcoaled malts, sweetness, earthy and floral hop. Taste is charcoal malts, sweet and tangy citrus, some earthy and aromatic hop. Medium bodied, fairly slick. I cant say I'm loving the purely deep roasted malt profile and would prefer some softer malts mixed in to expand the character. However there are some really nice use of hops here. Soft tangerine aroma, dried grass, spicy notes reminiscent of the, a touch of pine. Sweet taste, light spicy and herbal notes leading to light bitterness in the finish. Carbonation is way too heavy. The aroma is sweet, sticky, banana split, clove rock, spice, hay, herbal, bit of orange peel and biscuit. The taste is dry, wheat, hay, biscuit, grainy, green banana, chalky, spicy, cereal, weak citrus, some rawness, harshness and dull nougat with a drying finish. flying_pig	3.2 Moncada / BrewDog Paddington Marmalade Me Up 500ml Crowler from Brewdog.com (£2.50): Pale amber to golden with a translucent body & a half centimetre, bubbly white head that ends up as a fine surface lacing soon after; not the best looking hefeweizen. Wheat, light banana & some cloves open the nose with touches of bubblegum & background spices, mainly pepper then more sweetness to finish. It's similarly sweet tasting with the banana & wheat again strongest, some faint orange/citrus & yeast make an appearance too but it's definitely under-carbonated for the style with only a slight fizz at the end on top of a medium body; quite an average beer in truth.
