jamestulloch	3.7 Cromarty 80/- Can from Against The Grain. Clear ruby/amber body with a beige head. Fine carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of caramel, bread and biscuit. Flavour of tea and toffee. Aroma of banana, straw and white pepper. Flavour of banana bread and brown sugar. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. It’s a touch too sweet for me, but I do love Cromarty’s beers (another of their wheat based ones - Jungle Hijinx - is world class). More Weizenbocks please! Monday, February 12, 2024

AshtonMcCobb	3.2 Cromarty 80/- On keg at the Guildford Arms. Appearance - deep brown and opaque. Creamy head. Nose - burnt bread, light eggy. Taste - bran flakes going into malt loaf. Palate - light to medium bodied, creamy texture and a bit burnt. Overall - ok. Tuesday, January 9, 2024
Scopey	3.5 Cromarty Weizenbock Keg at Casc, Aberdeen. It pours clear blonde with a sturdy, fluffy white head. The aroma is sweet, soft, sweet banana, foamy banana candy, flumps, warming spice, clove rock, toasty grain and nougat. The taste is initially a touch dry and some a sharp citrus zing, powdered sugar, candy, clove rock, pineapple chunks, plenty of sweet banana, banana split with squirty cream, a touch of green veg/celery and warming booze with a drying finale. Medium body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. A bit lighter and more chuggable than expected. Errs on being a bit sweet though. Thursday, November 30, 2023

madmitch76	3.6 Cromarty Ahtanum Hop Showcase 25th October 2023 Can. Hazy orange beer, small pale cream colour head. Light palate, smooth, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, a light creamy sweetness, touch of caramel. Ahtanum presenting here as skunky with pretty ripe tangerine and mandarin. Mild peel bitterness into a cooling pine. Light finish leaves a mild peel bitter linger. Yeah, not a bad single hop showcase but this hop can be brighter and this beer could be a tad cleaner. Wednesday, October 25, 2023

jamesie1857	4.4 Cromarty Anniversary XI 2022 500ml bottle with a classy yellow wax seal from Villeneuve Wines in Peebles - deep opaque black oily Lyle's treacle body, tan head. Too much in the nose to note, liquorice, fruits, boozy wood, wine, blackcurrant jam, cigar smoke, leather, all very hypnotic. Taste is all of the above, massive oily mouthfeel, so full of flavour, boozy burn at the back. Abandoned 2/3 of the way through when my legs gave way and I face planted the living room door. Scopey	4.1 Cromarty Anniversary XI 2022 Bottle with crazy thick orange wax. It pours opaque, motor oil black with a small, dissipating deep brown bread. The aroma is rich roasted malt, dark and decadent, umami, liquorice, bourbon soaked oak, vinous, red wine, jammy berry, bramble, blackcurrant, cherry and chocolate. The taste is slick, oily, thick, rich, chewy, decadent, dark roasted malt, bitter - sweet, warming spice, warming boozey slap, slick, oily, loads of dark fruits and berries, cherry, bramble, blueberry, fruit compote, gateaux, robust red wine vibes, liquorice, umami, jammy and touch of tannin with a warming finish. Fulsome body, fine carbonation and slick, oily mouth feel. A monster of a beer that blurs the boundaries with red wine. Friday, August 25, 2023

anderjim	4.2 Cromarty / The Anderson 20th Anniversary Our Bock Update to Scopey's April 2023 review: Keg at the Anderson. After an additional 6 weeks of lagering (the first keg was released for the anniversary party after only 5 weeks in the lagering tank), beer pours completely bright, with doughy character giving way to firm maltiness. Melon & pear notes still present. And, yes, it's perhaps even more dangerously drinkable. Black with a good sized tan cap that stays for the show. Nose is earthy fruits, dark malts, hint of coffee, trace of bourbon, candied fruit peel. Taste comprises dark malts, dried fruits, light yeast elements, oak, modest bourbon, brown sugar dusting, figs, toffee. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a kiss of alcohol. Scopey	3.5 Cromarty Ahtanum Hop Showcase Can from Hopshop Aberdeen. It pours slightly hazy golden - amber with a small, dissipating white head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, floral, piney vibes, sappy, zingy, tangy, grapefruit and pomelo. The taste is dry, bitter, sappy, piney, floral, touch of peppery spice, pithy, zesty, grapefruit, pomelo, waxy rind and only dull alcohol presence with a dry, woody finish. The aroma is rich roasted malt, nutty, charred oak, boozey waft, bourbon soaked oak, fresh raspberry, jammy, tangy, toasted coconut, macaroons and cocoa. The taste is crisp, dry, tart raspberry, bitter - sweet, jammy, tangy, gummy candy, chocolate cake, touch of bourbon, chocolate bourbons, dull alcohol, victoria sponge cake, toasted coconut, macaroons and dull charred oak. Medium+ body and fine, prickly carbonation. Fun stuff. Not heavy, but quite bright. The raspberry works well. Friday, July 7, 2023
