2.4 Effenbert Světlý Ležák Pivo 500mo bottle shared with Delyan. A pretty standard Pilsener with a good hop malt balance, perhaps a bit more bitter than most, but refreshing and drinkable. Saturday, November 19, 2022

2.9 Effenbert Světlý Ležák Pivo Bottle, 500 ml. Extremely good Czech lager. The colour shows it contains a huge amount of malt, deep golden, almost amber. Very good carbo, off-white foam ), thin layer stays on top. Aromas of sweet malt reminds me on banana, hay and faint vanilla. Very good palate, great amount of hops bring the bitterness. Medium aftertaste, very refreshing. Amazing beer for 1€... Friday, July 6, 2018

2 Effenbert Světlý Ležák Pivo pale golden colour, moderate head; first of all: it smells like sweat totally destroying the experinece; taste of an average lager; disappointing beer in the light of the country of origin (Czech Rep) Friday, April 5, 2013

2.7 Effenbert Světlý Ležák Pivo Even in the evident condition my sample was in it didn’t quite fit the meaty Budvar or even hoppy Plzen pilsners of the Czech Republic. A bad case of the floaties (?) on the pour disperses to become a misty, clouded orange gold beer capped by a dense but thin and lasting cap of white. Rich, cereal grain and toasted sweet malt dominate the nose a heavy, spiced peppery hit. Creamy and full in the mouth with a lot of peach and apricot amongst a bed of Bircher muesli. Peppery, spicy and subtly floral back ends it before a lengthy, fruity finish. Becomes cloying quickly so chilled it is! A little beyond it’s ’use-by’ is given so it doesn’t survive too well in the bottle. Need to track down a fresh batch to compare because this was rampant with esters.
