2 Towns Sunís Out
500 ml bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours perry color with no bubbles/head. Aroma of cider and light stone fruits. Itís a bit skin astringent, has hints of non-apple light fruits, and goes a bit earthy in the finish. Which could be skin rather than yeast result. It does leave a rather non-cider taste in the mouth. So I could believe it relates to saison. Distantly.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours murky reddish berry color with an arguably off-white head. Aroma of light sour dark berry. Med body, nearly. Flavor is very lightly lactic sour; some blackberry; not a lot of "cider". A very interesting thing - I can think lambic on this. Sort of.

Very good ginger flavors, but the apple comes through as well, so itís not entirely like a ginger soda.

Poured from a 500 ml bottle. Aroma is sweet, green apples with a medium light tannin note. Light red apple notes, but this is mostly green. Pours a very clear, very pale yellow color with a faint, thin, white head that immediately disappears. No lacing or legs. Flavor is moderately sweet, but with a fairly dry finish. Medium light green apple notes with some light red apple and tannins. Hints of alcohol in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium light to light bodied with moderate carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty bland and somewhat boring cider, but it should work fine for a pork chop brine. Flavor is fairly muted with balanced sweetness and apple notes. A bit too candy-like for my preferences.

Draught at Schilling Cider House, Seattle, as Riverwood Brut
Pale yellow color. Crisp cider, fresh apple feeling, off-dry, the light residual sweetness is pleasant, moderately acidic, and a bit of astringency in the final.
Very good.

2 Towns The Dark Currant
Draught at Schilling Cider House, Seattle
Dark ruby color with pink head. The aroma is dusty, like peppers, light berries. Very dry mouthfeel, I can get some fruit, but itís indiscernible, the final is dry and a bit astringent.
It kind of has the currant character, that doesnít work well in the dry, in my opinion.

Not really a cider, but nice.

Hazy pour gives way to white foam and releases the aroma of a bag full of sweet apples. The haziness gives it a nice texture. Finishes with just a hint of sour. Thereís a lot of interesting flavors in this one.

750 c&c from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours slightly golden perry color with some white bubbles. Aroma of smooth, dry cider. Arguably med body. Flavor is astringent, woody, old apples. Not a bad thing that. Very dry. Wood seems to flow away, but the astringency remains. Making me think of wrinkled apples. Itís beginning to seem lightly tart. Very good cider. Might be able to compete with some of the Normandy products.

On tap @ Taps Barrel House. Sort of a lighter red color with a lot of pink and short lived pink foam. Strong currant, grape, and berry aroma here. Comes off a bit soda-like. Fairly sweet and fruit forward, though there is a bit of acidity here. Oak aging seems to add a touch of tannin and dryness. Maybe just a bit of butterscotch in there as well? Fine enough.

This is a bit dryer than most but is still vaguely in the soda pop range of cidres. This is perfectly clear and tastes like less sweet apple juice w/ a pretty nice floral note and some Smarties candy. Itís a bit watery on the palate but I prefer that to too sweet and sticky so based on that I am willing to say that this is not revolting.

Small (1 or 2 oz.) pour at Beer Dabbler Winter Carnival. Consumed on 2-6-16. Pours a clear yellow to gold with a small amount of beige head. Lemon, lemongrass, and blood orange scents. Dry tartness in the aroma. Middle Eastern food flavor. I do get the hops in the taste (Citra or Mosaic?). Mineral, celery, and rhubarb. Tastes really good! Beer-like palate.

On tap at Schilling, pours a clear blonde with a medium white head. Aroma is intense, with lots of fresh ginger root drowning out everything else. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of ginger root and medium dry apples. Not a big fan of this. Itís reasonable for what it is, but itís not a ginger bomb.

On tap at Schilling, pours a hazy pinkish red with a small pink head. Aroma is very fruity, with very dry currants dominating. 750 mL corked bottle poured, shared by Chris C. Thanks! Near transparent pour with no head. Jet black bottle and label, I expected a dark cider to pair. Fresh apple aroma. Cider aroma really. I have a hard time differentiating cider aromas that donít have additional additives. Juicy apple flavor with a refreshing, cool finish. Not nearly the amount of barrel presence as I expected. Still, great flavor and quenching finish. Awesome cider.

Rating #1517 - 17.03.2015 - On tap at Amplified Ale Works. Clear, pale, faintly yellow colour, fairly carbonated, bubbly foam dissipates rapidly. Aroma is fresh cut apples. Palate is more, some ginger sweet notes, balanced by the dryness provided by the ripened fruit and alcohol . Not boozy in the slightest though, very drinkable. Crisp, balanced, delicious. Not overly ginger-forward, just a lovely complement to the crisp, well achieved cider.

I was surprised to see the amount of criticism regarding this cider. Itís a heavy alcohol by volume at 10.5% for 500ml from Oregon , gluten free and 4% honey wine. It pours heavily with the honey visible floating in this golden liquid. Iíve had the opportunity to enjoy the best of the best when it comes to ciders and while this is certainly no DuPont, other ciders Iíve had recently can not hold a candle to this one, including Angry Orchard. I was impressed, and will pick up some more next time Iím able to.
