Le Coureur des Bois Ourse Noire
Sampled on premises A: roasty, dark chocolate, a touch of caramel. App: dark brown close to black smallish beige head. T/p: med to full body with moderate long sweet finish. Soft to moderate carbonation. O: I don’t mind sweeter stout like this beer. Nice robust roastiness and easy sip. Could picture my self drinking a pint of this.

Le Coureur des Bois l’Amphibie
Sampled on premises A: grapefruit, piny, with a touch of caramel to support the hops. App: clear copper smallish white head. T/p: thin to med body with moderate long bitter finish. Soft to moderate carbonation. O: definitely sessionable, pleasant hopiness. A bit old school in term of aroma, I prefer frutier session ipa. Still a fine beer.

Le Coureur des Bois Vigoureuse
on tap at quebec city’s winter douchefest - although this one was served from a pitcher, previously poured from a tap. hazy golden pour with a small white cap, some retention and lacing. spicy and fruity yeastiness, bright citrus and grassy hops, hint of honey, chalk, bitter herbs. moderate to low carbonation - not vigourous - perhaps pre-poured sample did not help, light body - oily, bittering grassy-spicy-citrusy finish. quasi-belgian ipa. tasty.

on tap at quebec city’s winter douchefest - although this one was served from a pitcher, previously poured from a tap. hazy golden pour with a small white cap, little retention and lacing. spicy and minty yeastiness, bubblegum, bananas, cloves - loads of phenolic esters, booze, honeyed malts along with a hint of sweetness. moderate to low carbonation - perhaps pre-poured sample did not help, medium body - oily, sweet and almost cloying grassy-lemony-spicy finish. just o-k.

Aroma: Chocolate and coffee. Can’t be more standard than that. Appearance: Opaque black with nice persistent head and good lacing. Flavors: Again, coffee and chocolate. Pretty standard stout. Where are the other subtle flavors that makes a great beer complex?

Le Coureur des Bois Lynx
Tasted at the Brewery on August 2nd 2012. Aroma; Kind of difficult to get aromas when glasses are full. But I could get a bit of hoppy notes. Appearance: Golden blond, little head, big bubbles with average lacing. Flavors are hoppy and cutting with metallic notes. That’s about all I have to say. Pretty standard ale with not a very large range of flavors.
