Smells classy! Taste : Full bodied, creamy smooth texture. Unexpectedly only a moderate roasty bitterness. Tons of malty chocolate, roasted coffee & earth balanced by the sweeter elements. Excellent! bonkiedeaap	3.6 Den IJzeren Arm Bottle from Dranken Verheyen in Poppel, Belgium. The beer is hazy golden colored with a stable white foam. Carbonation is good. The aroma is malts, wheat, oats, mustard, hops and other spices. The taste is light sweet malty and fruity and goes to bitterness with notes of yeast, spices and lots of mustard. corkyrory66	4.4 Basilius Special Edition Bière ambrée de 7 % abv, en édition spéciale, brassée chez de Proef. Avant d'aborder la spéciale, il faut d'abord rappeler les mérites de la bière de base, aussi à 7 %, réalisée avec 5 malts et 2 houblons. Parmi ces deux figure déjà l'amarillo, dont cette version-ci est donc un développement en ajoutant un dry hopping, encore en amarillo. Pour les amateurs de ce houblon, on va donc être aux anges .. Visuel toujours sur le cuivré. Entame qui garde l'esprit un rien épicé de la base, mais en travaillant déjà les nuances de l'amarillo. Longueur qui dépasse les hésitations de la bière de base, en mettant en avant les qualités de l'amarillo. CONCLUSION : version bien satisfaisante de cette bière, difficile à appréhender, mais qui montre ici un meilleur développement encore. Taste has sweet red apple & pear in a yeasty, brioche-malty body, a bit nutty, spicy. Herbal hoppy finish, more fruity yeast, tea, perfumey somewhat, touch of alcohol. Aroma brings a good introduction to fenegriek, first I've seen in a beer, soft yeasty esters. Taste is crisp with noticeable, though not over-the-top, fenegriek bringing spicy peppery notes along a soft yeasty base character, with medium body and high carbonation. It's interesting, kind of works. If I needed fenegriek's health benefits, and enough came through this beer, I'd probably like this more. Saturday, October 12, 2019

Chocolate malts rule the nose and taste, semi-bitter, yet leaning towards a smooth and almost slick liquorice feel. Some ground coffee notes in there too. Nice! Friday, May 10, 2019
corkyrory66	4.7 De Zwarte Zwaan Black ipa de 8 % abv, avec de la vanille de Madagascar. Malts d'orge et du seigle. Houblonnage en fuggles. Mon exemplaire était à 6 mois après sa date. Couleur noir intense, à l'opacité très forte. Mousse brun roux, épaisse, crémeuse, stable à 3 mm. Arômes de café expresso italien de la meilleure facture, liqueur de café. 1ère bouche veloutée, sur des grains de café et fèves de cacao. Arrière-bouche longue, très stylée. 2ème avec de très belles nuances et une grande liaison des saveurs. Arrière-bouche qui donne encore plus. La longueur est superbe, avec une grande harmonie sur le café. La vanille quant à elle est repartie à Madagascar, elle est quasi inexistante ... Jambes fines, huileuses, longues. Levure fine, belle ligne. Alcool très bien, il se révèle efficace pour maintenir la longueur à la hauteur des deux premières bouches. Finale remarquable. CONCLUSION : très belle bière, mais qui au niveau du style, sous divers aspects est plus proche du dry stout que d'une black ipa. Ceci n'enlève rien à la bière, mais seulement un peu de crédibilité à un " institut " de la bière … (9/4/10/5/19) Saturday, May 4, 2019

RudiGR	2.4 De Witte Zwaan Gekocht bij Bachus cornelius te Brugge tijdens het 7é bierfestival. Het is een amber-blond biertje en ruikt licht naar mout en wat hop, het weinige schuim is wit, romig en inzakkend. Over de smaak kan ik kort zijn: weinig hoppig bitter en nog minder bitter in de zeer korte nasmaak. Het is een plat en niet droog (sec) biertje en alcohol ontwaar je ook niet in de smaak (kan moeilijk ook: 5%). Het zou wel een zeer goed tafelbier kunnen zijn.
