The flavor is also sweet, almost an alcohol sweetness that comes across like a higher ABV beer. Medium body with a slight oiliness. Aftertaste kinda lingers too. Thursday, June 20, 2013

Beerenberger	3.3 South Austin Belgian Style Golden Ale A funky earthy quality, somewhat acetic, yeasty aroma is present. A cloudy golden pour with a giant frothy mostly lasting white head and very little lacing. The taste is citrus up front followed by bread, grain, and hints of banana and spice. Medium body with lively carbonation. (The cork almost went through the ceiling when I removed the wire cage!) The texture is rather full and creamy. Overall, a nice beer that should be a good accompaniment to a number of food choices. Monday, February 4, 2013

beastiefan2k	2.9 South Austin Belgian Style Golden Ale 750mL bottle shared by a friend. Poured into a Lost Abbey glass. Bottom line, this beer is very green. Carbonation is a bit low, almost no head on the pour, the beer looks a bit dead. Aroma is too sweet with alcohol, sugar, and honey. Flavor is again affected by the undercarbonation, the flavors do not meld well together. Mouhtfeel is off. A disparate beer that has all the right elements. Can’t explain it but there was no beer eruption just little splashes of beer all over the counter, my arm, and the floor. Label says Saison but very much a Belgian/dubbel. drpimento	3.8 South Austin Belgian Style Golden Ale Not bad. Poured at a good temperature with a mammoth, foamy, very frothy, light, off-white head that soon settles to a scummy cover and some lace. Color is a crystal clear pale yellow with lots of bubble trails. Aroma is mainly yeast, with some malt, spice, grain. Flavor is like nose, sweet up front, then carbonic tang and a bit of bitter and lemon. Fairly simple flavors. Body is ok and is highly effervescent giving a mouth filling sensation. Finish is like flavor, short in length, and leaves little impact. Not bad beer, could drink more. Monday, July 16, 2012

hopeye101	4 South Austin Belgian Style Golden Ale Appearance: Poured a straw color with a 1 finger white head that dissapated quickly. Aroma: Lots of fruity esters. Pears, apples. Medium floral hop character. Some alcohol presence but not overpowering. soft Malty character Flavor: Spicy, fruity esters supported by the pilsner malt character. Taste is dry but not too dry, balanced by the malt and the hops. Moderate bitterness and some floral hop flavor comes through. Mouthfeel is solid. The balance between sweet but not too sweet and dry but not too dry is achieved. Medium body. Some alcohol warmth comes through. Very smooth. Overall: I’d give this all 5’s if it was substantially carbonated. A very nice well balanced beer. I’ll pick up a few more and condition them for a few weeks and revisit this brew. As expected, the beer pours a hazy golden color with a large white head. The aroma has some biscuit and Belgian yeast notes, as well as a little bit of citrus. The flavor follows suit.
