Domaine des Hauts Vents Cidre Rosé
Bottle at La Cidrerie, pours a clear rosé (!) colour with a tiny ring of head. Nose is quite dry, smelling like a rosé red wine, with tannins, wood, and light apple skins. Flavour is very sweet, with lots of tannins, intense sweetness that creeps in at the back, and moderate acidity. Hmm, this is interesting - the sweetness is too much for me, and the acidity is a bit high. I wish there was more funk, but unfortunately, it’s just a lot of apple core, tartness and sweetness. Unique but not great.

75cl bottle bought from (I think) Ecomusee, drunk at home. Pours clear pink, aroma of lightly sweet rosé cider. Taste is sweet, tart, sugary with a fine spritz. A little too sweet for me.

Domaine des Hauts Vents Cidre Doux
750ml bottle from Newby Hall, with wired cork giving an impressive pop on opening. Pale orange-gold colour, fizzy white foam head that dissipates away and juicy apple aroma. Taste is fruity apple, sweetish, mellow, with caramel and funky notes. Light bodied, spritzy carbonation, dry tannic finish. Nicely drinkable.

330ml bottle from Ecomusee, consumed on Etretat Beach. Pours vivid, clear pink. Aroma of floral, sweet rose. Taste is super sweet, super sugary with some floral, berry notes. Almost undrinkably sweet. Couldn't manage more than a couple of sips.

Bottle at THT. Clear amber with no head. Sweet dry apple notes, very light funk, lots of apple peel, bitter herbs, lots of dry fruity apple notes, With some strange balanced sweetness that still leaves a soft bitterness and sour touch. Full bodied. Love it.

Domaine des Hauts Vents Cidre Demi-Sec
750mL c&c from the Cidrerie in Honfleur, a specialty cider bar tucked away near the main harbor and square. This was the staff recommendation. Poured a cloudy deep orange with quick fizz. Beautiful rich nose. Incredible American old country apple cider nose with big cinnamon and mulling spice. Taste is dry with mild apple skin paired with drying cinnamon stick and vanilla dessert. Pretty long lactic finish. Thick vanilla dessert. Sort of like apple pie with vanilla ice cream. Lots of oak vanillin from the barrel shows through. Very good.
