Drakes Hopocalypse Blood Orange Imperial IPA (Red Label)
Tasting at Matt’s
Cloudy golden color, small head. I actually get orange blossom in the aroma; and malt, some hops. Lean body, moderately sweet, nice malt flavor, delicate, strong bitterness, pithy bitterness in the final, bitter orange peel.

Drakes Hopocalypse Blood Orange Imperial IPA (Red Label)
22 oz. bottle, pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of blood oranges upfront, followed by some resinous hops and a big caramel malt -- but the oranges are huge on this. Flavour is cloyingly sweet and dominated by the oranges -- followed by like resinous hops and sweet caramel. The oranges ruin this for me. Way too sweet and fruity. Not my thing.

Drakes Duck Puppy
What a treat to drink. Rich quad that I suspect would have been wonderful on its own--sweet, dates, raisin--and then a big load of whisky. Dimensionality and sippability, with a very muted level of alcohol. Interesting and excellent. Highly recommended. Bottle purchased at City Beer.

Drakes Zinful Drakonic
On tap at PIB 2016, pours black with a am small tan head. Aroma brings out loads of the wine barrels upfront, followed by heavily roasted malt and a light burnt quality. Flavour is dominated by the red wine barrels, bringing out tons of wood and vinous character, backed by a huge roasted malt profile. Dominated by the wine, but well-done.

Drakes Brette Davis Eyes
On tap at PIB 2016, pours a clear pale yellowish blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out lovely brett funk upfront, with light citrus zest and dry oakiness. Flavour is puckeringly tart, with tons of lychee and citrusy sourness. Extremely puckering, dry and sour. Not overly complex. A little underwhelming, but it’s solid.

Bottle from Biernavigatie, large sample. Dark color, medium rocky brown head. Aroma of big coffee, roast and licorice. Coffee spicyness in taste, roasty bitterness, some licorice and dark chocolate. Coffee is wonderfully balanced with the beer. Great stuff.

Drakes Kick Back
On tap @ Drakes Dealership. Clear golden beer with a white head. Really nice grapefruit hops on the nose. I get some pine, grass, and dried flowers as well. There’s a fairly strong bitterness to the flavor here. But, a nice touch of peach, some orange, and subtle cantaloupe. Pretty zesty and a lot of grapefruit peel on the finish.

Drakes Kiwi Weisse
On tap @ Drakes Dealershp. Clear straw beer with a minimal head. Smells like apple cider and green apple candy. A lot of sugar, some lemon juice, green apple, and is in general just kind of your typical meh American sour beer. Don’t really get any sort of kiwi flavor or aroma here at all. Scroll past.

Drakes Winning Lager with Oak
On cask @ Drakes Dealership. Brown in color with a thin layer of khaki foam. The oak is quite strong here and I don’t enjoy it anywhere near as much as the original. There still is some sweet toast, bread, and caramel. Some hints of coffee and roasted malt in there. Kind of a bitterness on the finish of the tongue. Still has a bit of the fruity/estery quality.

Drakes Hopocalypse Imperial White IPA (White Label)
Bomber from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours gold with a white head. Aroma of mixed fruits, with a note that suggests pineapple. Med + body. Flavor is heavy, arguably somewhat dankish hops over arguably detectable malt. Hop is heavy on flavor - pale stone fruits/white berries/tropical - meaning pineapple here it seems. Mild hop burn. Surprisingly not all that harshly bitter. Great hoppy beer.

Drakes Jolly Rodger (2015 Barrel-Aged)
Note: 7/10

Drakes Hefe
Had a pint of this beer in a bar in San Francisco. The beer had a cloudy straw-lemon color with a modest white foamy head that has average retention, cling, and lacing. It’s aroma featured banana, straw, grain, and some light floral scents,. The taste was mostly sweet, featuring banana, straw, fruit, and other grains, and a slightly sour finish. It had a fairly wet mouthfeel with low carbonation and a smooth, easy finish.

Drakes IPA
Początkowo niemal idealny aromat cytrusowo (z przewagą grejpfruta) - ziołowy, choć zaakcentowany został również słód (chleb, ciastka, trochę karmelu). Niestety po chwili dochodzą nuty lekko anyżkowe i miodowe, świadczące o utlenieniu. Szkoda bo zapowiadało się naprawdę nieźle.

Barwa złota, głęboka, lekko zamglona. Żółto- biała, drobno pęcherzykowa piana, obfita i względnie trwała, ładnie oblepiająca szkło.

Smak to tradycyjna angielska słodowość, dobrze podbudowująca nadchodzącą chmielową kontrę i alkohol. Goryczka owocowo- ziołowa, powyżej średniej, dość drażniąca i długa. Średnia do krągłej pełnia, umiarkowane wysycenie i nieco cierpki, lekko alkoholowy finisz. Niezłe piwo, ale goryczka i alkohol mogły by być nieco mniej wyraźne. Do tego przydałoby się bardziej świeże.

Drakes Tears of A Sisserone
On tap @ Drakes. This might be one of the more ridiculous beers I’ve ever come across. Of course, I tried it anyway. Surprisingly clear golden straw color with a ring of white foam. The mint is really dominant here...along with booze. Tastes a bit like mouthwash/toothpase or maybe a mix of peppermint and cinnamon schnapps. Sweet, boozy, and highly flavored. I don’t see a need to try this one again.

Drakes Brette Davis Eyes with Coffee
On tap @ Drakes. Slightly hazed orange beer without much in the way of foam. Maybe a bit surprisingly, and perhaps for the best, the coffee isn’t an overwhelming part of the beer. It’s certainly there, though. Has the musty, lemony funk and acidity of the base with some nutty coffee, white grape, and maybe just a hint of vanilla. Interesting, if nothing else.

Drakes Triplicity Vol. 7
On tap @ Drakes. Golden-orange beer with a white head. The aroma has a moderate citrus quality of grapefruit and lemon peel with some pine and grass definitely being significant contributors as well. There’s a little herb, citrus, and resinous bitterness. Light malt character of toasted bread provides a touch of sweetness. Overall, pretty nice.

Drakes Three Times a Lady
On tap @ Drakes Dealership. Hazed orange-ish colored beer with white foam. In general, not a big fan of their Belgian-style beers. This one is okay, but it’s too phenolic and sweet for me. Notes of coriander, pepper, and grass. Big honey and simple syrup notes, some canned pear, and orange. Maybe a light yeast note.

Drakes / Firestone Walker Oyster Pirates
On tap @ Drakes Dealership. Pretty much black in color with a small tan head. Pretty nice roast and coffee grounds character on the nose, but also a fair bit of toast and black cherry. Get a bit of ash and smoke, too. Brine qualities are actually a bit subdued. The flavor has a pretty interesting combination of tastes for a beer--some sweetness, some salt, and certainly some bitterness. It’s not bad, but one pour is enough for me.

Drakes The Colonel
On tap @ Drakes Dealership. I like the idea of this beer (and other cocktail beers), but not sure how I feel about the execution. Kind of an ugly sucker...just brownish-amber with no foam and minimal carbonation. Sweet caramel, chocolate, vanilla, and brown sugar along with the herbal and fresh "greenness" of the mint. Though, the mint could actually be a touch more vibrant here. Pretty boozy for my tastes. Just very sweet and obviously strong. Not the greatest feel on the tongue, either.

On draft at Tap 25. It pours a yellow color with a white head. The aroma has some grainy pilsner malt with some earthy hops. The flavor is bready and grainy with some hints of spice and herbs. Slightly hazy deep golden color with slightly off-white head. Aroma has some citrusy and piney hops, slightly dank and vegetal.
