Several pours@BKL 2016 - FR. Apparently fermented with 100% brett as a Weihenstephan student project then commercialised, soon to be bottled as IsarkindL. - Excellently dried out, yet clean-all-too-clean fermented out Helles/Pils crossover that used the attenuated pale malt basis to showcase some subtle tangerine hops (Mandarina, DE Cascade?), but as remarked below lacks quite a bit of peppery or wild yeast character to hold the attention as a "brett" beer. Would work well as alternative Bavarian summer sessioner, though...

Weihenstephaner Comet Weisse
Huge, lasting white head rises out of the glass. Hazy opaque yellow body. Mealy spicy banana aroma with chalky yogurt notes. Dryish fruity resiny taste with mealy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish mealy resiny aftertaste with salty wooden notes. It’s ok, but not altogether successful use of what appears to be new world hops. (0.5l draft at Fritz, Stockholm.)

Amber color with small tan head. Aroma is sweet fruits, jammy, a bit oxidized. Brett? Taste is jammy again, sweet, but not too sweet, low carbonation. Not bad, but this apparent 100% Brett strain they made really lacks some dirtiness.

Hazy orange color with white head. Aroma is lots of bananas. Taste is fresh, some bananas. Boring, it’s "too clean", hardly any complexity there, but no off flavours at least.

Essentially, this is the same as the Weihenstephaner hefe, except with more citrus on the nose, and the flavor and the finish. Pretty decent and refreshing, though. A nice twist on a classic.

On tap at PreFunk. Nice looking pour (wrong glass), soft creamy head, normal weizen banana, bubblegum and clove aromas, but something seems amiss in the taste, slightly sour. Body also a bit thin, close, but no cigar. Shame to sully the Weihenstephaner with this mediocre outing.

Weihenstephaner Comet Weisse
Draft. Hazy gold body with a frothy white head, lasting. Aroma of citrus and floral hops, banana and light clove, toasted wheat. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly tart. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. Essentially, a citrus flavored hefe. The banana/clove take a backseat, but they are there. The beer is clean, bright, easy drinking — and interesting.

Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Pours a hazy pale yellow golden color with a small white head. The aroma and flavor have pale wheat malts, floral notes, citrus, light banana, I thought it seemed thin and watery for 6.4%, bready malts, just not much for me to get excited about.

Weihenstephaner Comet Weisse
On tap at Dutch’s. Hazy golden, slight orange color. Thin white head that retains well, with decent bits and sheets of lace. Nice bright citrus hop, kind of floral, mild spice. Plays well with the bready wheat malt. Very mild bit of banana/vanilla, hop is featured well and big here, though there is something slightly stale and musty about it. Medium-plus body. Smooth, kind of crisp lighter carbonation. Mild slick texture. Moderate bitter taste, light sweet, more dry. Pretty easy-drinking for a 6.4% hefe, pretty pleasantly bright. Interesting, nice stuff. Hoppy hefe doesn’t seem like it should work, but Weihenstephaner has pulled it off, in an interesting way.

Weihenstephaner Comet Weisse
Draught @ BBB. Pours very hazy yellow with a frothy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of sticky lacing and trace on the glass. Smell is fruity estery and slightly grassy with wheat crackers, banana bread, grapefruit juice, freshly cut grass, minerals and lemon zest. Taste is tiny sweet, tiny bitter, slightly fruity estery and tiny grassy. Mouthfeel is tiny round, tiny crisp, tiny watery and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, tiny bitter and very tiny sour with crackers, green banana, grass, pine needles and lemon zest. Solid hefe... Grassier and with a citrus edge I attribute to the hops.

In short: As name suggests. An classic german hefeweizen (bananas and friends) with the fruity hopping cranked up like an IPA. Very good.
How: Tap at Chimera, Oviedo Spain.
The look: Cloudy Yellow - blonde body topped by a persistent medium white head.
In long: The strong nose is enormously fruity with banana esters mixing with tropical fruity hops and even some “pleasant” cat urine that I often get from Citra hops. Medium size body with a well leveled carbonation creating a very nice clean mouthfeel which was as expected considering the brewery. Taste is more of the same. A polished true german hefe like german breweries make so easily. This base hefe is generously hopped with what tasted to me new trendy hops with grassy and tropical fruits flavors even if description says it uses noble Bavarian hops. Whatever they used I like. A rating transcribed from hand-written notes, because real beer geeks always drink beers with our notepad in hands and have sex with our fanny pack on.
