tmoreau	4.1 Avery Anniversary Twenty Five On tap at Lunar Brewing Co. as a 6-year-old offering to a snifter, showing a darkest brown color, with a presentable layer of tan froth, and ribbons & spots of lacing. The nose was malt, roast, yeast spice, dark & dried fruit, modest sweetness, a touch of treacle, oaky attributes with a bit of vanilla, and ready boldness to the alcohol presence. Medium+ bodied, the taste was as the aroma notes, with expressive alcohol, and roasted & oaky bitterness. Nicely balanced, and cellared quite well. Wednesday, April 24, 2024

coasternut	3.2 Avery White Rascal Had on tap at Bunnies for brunch today. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a medium head that stays for a while. Not a big fan of Belgians, but this one was one of the better ones. The banana and clove flavors are not my idea of a good beer. The aroma was decent as was the appearance. Mouthfeel was light. Svesse	4.3 Avery Tweak (Bottle) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, dark chocolate, toasted wood, bourbon, vanilla, toffee and orange. Malty, roasted, vinous taste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, oak wood, bourbon, toffee, liquorice, nuts and a mild coffee bitterness in a fairly boozy finish. Full body, sweet. Delightful aroma that’s floral and herbal with notes of lavender and lilac but also papaya and melon and subtle orange peel. commonmac	Avery Barrel-Aged Series 63 - One Ping Only 12oz bottle consumed on the last day of the first weekend of March Madness with commonshawn and highendtully. Pours a deep chocolate brown with hints of mahogany. Nose is big cherry with hints of chocolate. Taste leans into cherry notes with a heavy alcohol presence. Reminiscent of Belgian quads with a heavier roasty malty quality. A little too much cherry for my palette. Interesting but not really in my wheelhouse. Sunday, March 24, 2024

Yellow orange yellow in color with thin white head. Taste the wood, mint and funk. Tart. Mellow and seems like all ingredients are working well together. Funky mint aftertaste. Livendadream	3.9 Avery Uncle Jacob's Stout Batch #4 pour an opaque, dirty motor oil color with a small tan head that leaves no lace. Smells of chocolate, toast, prunes, molasses & alcohol. Tastes of molasses, dried prunes, a hint of wood , chocolate, & alcohol. Big body , little carbonation (age?) , coating , syrup like mouthfeel, and a tingly warm alcohol finish. Wow this beer is pretty good but the alcohol is still present tho. I thought it would fade. I wish I would have tried this when Adam gave me this a few years ago. Thanks Adam! Monday, March 18, 2024

mmmbeer	3.4 Avery Latte On My Mind 12 oz can served in a shaker- poured a nontransparent solid black color when held to a light source, foamy tan head formed with only slight lacing. Nose of cocoa and hops. Hits the mouth with a wide body, malt was made extra crispy charred but it just made it awesome, middle holds up well, finish has a touch of vanilla and booze. Good! Loads of resin, pine, orange juice, grapefruit, floral. Some yeast for silky texture and solid body, smooth yet fairly crisp sticky finish. Lot of play between sugary body and moderate bitter finish. gripweed57	4 Avery The Beast Grand Cru Ale On tap at Capone’s in Norristown, PA. A 5.5 ounce snifter. 2015 vintage. Garnet colored pour. Creamy tan head. Sweet toasted malt aroma hints at toffee. Flavor upfront is rich and complex. Dark dried fruits, Demerara sugar, warming alcohol, resiny hops and more. Wow, incredible. So smooth on the palate, yet amazingly complex. Initially, the 18% ABV is subdued, but as the beer warms, it rears its intense bite. This is not for the faint of heart. Slow and steady sipping will get you through this. Friday, February 16, 2024

Btl pours an extremely dark brown/ black color with a thick , tan head that lingers leaving strips Of lace on glass. Aromas of coffee, bourbon, wood , cookies, brown sugar, and a hint of alcohol. Tastes of excellent coffee, oak, malted milk balls, coffee, bourbon, chocolate and a hint of alcohol. The aroma is cinnamon, vanilla, espresso, light peat, orange zest, and the robust herbal notes of a bold Amaro. Sweet and malty, with a mellow bitterness. Not too boozy, surprisingly. poisoneddwarf	4.1 Avery Barrel-Aged Series 38 - Certatio Equestris 12 oz foiled bottle. 2016 bottle. Aroma has notes of lemon, mint, wood, vanilla. Pours hazy burnt orange with a one finger off-white head with decent retention; lots of big chunks of sediment floating around—perhaps to be expected after seven and a half years. Taste is highly sour (8/10) with some very light oxidation and surprisingly lots of mint still. Light bourbon barrel influence. It holds up. Sunday, December 31, 2023
DrnkMcDermott	4.1 Avery Samael's Oak-Aged Ale 2005 bottle from trade. Sorry I can't track down whom it was with. Very sweet smell, and I guess I do catch an edge of oak, although I had thought until now this was bourbon barrel age. Ruby brown with a little fizz, but no foam. Taste is nice and strong, but the alcohol is not overpowering. Plenty of malt without sweetness, which is contradictory, I know. Edge of fruit leather, cherry and pipe tobacco. Thick malty and caramel mouthfeel. It kind of does wander into the territory of a white zinfandel. I do get some alcohol vapors once the beer's had a chance to breathe. Now, more than midway through, I have a dry wine taste. This just keeps bringing up new characteristics with each sip. Wednesday, December 27, 2023

Pours clear golden colored with a large off white head that has excellent retention and good lacing. Starts with juicy papaya, tangerine and floral hop flavors. KevinReddirt	3.9 Avery Double Digit IPA I got this 12 oz can at the Lakeline Total Wine near Austin in the late fall. The date stamp indicates I am sampling an IPA on the outside limits of optimal. I like tulip glasses for IPAs so tonight I have a Great Heights glass in place. The view is a cloudy, lemon-yellow body with a quickly settled cover of completely white foam. The nose is attractive with some tropical, some citrus, a bit of pine. The drink is equally decent. There is cedar, pineapple, grapefruit, melon, enough hoppiness to register and a nice bitterness to go with that. Fairly dry and a substantial sensation. This is not a favorite style for me but I am tasting an all right beer here. Saturday, December 2, 2023

Malty, fruity, vinous taste with caramel, dried fruit, sultana raisins, figs, rum, oak wood, vanilla, burnt sugar and a warming, boozy finish with a mild spicy bitterness. Full body, sweet. chinhaez	4.8 Avery Uncle Jacob's Stout Bottle. Black pour with a small brown head that soon fades away. The aroma is big with whiskey, black licorice, and a trace of vanilla. The taste mirrors the aroma with all the aforementioned plus a big dose of dark chocolate cocoa. The palate is full and oily with soft carbonation. Finishes long and bittersweet with lingering chocolates. Overall: Decent brewski, I loved it, and consider it equal to many of the bigger names in BA stouts.
