3.4 Rushing Duck Nut Brown Ale From Beer Drop, no dating on the can. It pours a clear reddish brown with a 2 finger head of foam, very good lacing. The smell is malty, nutty, some notes of milk chocolate, some mild bitterness that reminds me of dark chocolate. The taste is nutty, semi sweet, milk and dark chocolate. Little bit of roast. I expected it to be sweeter than it is but I am not disappointed. Good mouthfeel. Good Nut Brown Ale. Sunday, October 15, 2023

3.3 Rushing Duck Berliner Weisse On draft at the brewpub. I think this is different from their Zingerbier, which appears to have ginger in it. I figured it was a good choice for Oktoberfest, and I was delighted to see it was being served with a choice of woodrush syrup or raspberry syrup. This is a mild BW, with the tartness and acidity kept well under control. It is a little lacking in character, but it was a nice surprise to come across this. Sunday, October 3, 2021

5 Rushing Duck Divided By Zero! Fantastic. Massively hopped but eminently drinkable. Very little malt backbone. Pours a hazy golden straw colour. Lingering bitterness on the back of the tongue but not overpowering. Described as a ‘imperial session pale-black ipa’. I’m assuming that’s a joke :) But it’s awesome. One of the best beers I’ve had in the New York area. No real citrus or grapefruit or any of the piney tones - just straight hops explosion. Tuesday, April 23, 2019

3.5 Rushing Duck Divided By Zero! Saturday, July 21, 2018

3.9 Rushing Duck Ded Moroz Got in a BIF from MacMalt. 500 ml bottle into snifter, Winter 2017-2018 release. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toffee, nuttiness, toasted dark bread, licorice, raisin, prune, cherry, fig, and date; with lighter notes of smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, herbal, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Increasing booze intensity as it warms, a bit overwhelming. Nice aromas with good complexity and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toffee, nuttiness, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, charcoal, licorice, raisin, prune, cherry, fig, date, leather, tobacco, herbal, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roast/char bitterness and spicy alcohol on the finish. Lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toffee, nuttiness, toasted dark bread, licorice, dark fruit, leather, tobacco, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light earthy flavors; with a nice roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying/acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from hop/roast bitterness and spicy alcohol. Light carbonation and full body; with a very creamy/silky/bready, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Light-moderate increasing warmth of 11.2%, with a bit of booze after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Russian imperial stout. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light earthy flavors; pretty smooth to sip on slowly for the big ABV. I liked it more as I moved through the glass. Not nearly as bitter as I expected for the style; but it has a very wide array of complexity from malts and English yeast. A very enjoyable offering, but could definitely use a couple years of age. Quite hot on the fusels. Sunday, April 8, 2018
