McClure’s Gold Rush Ice Cider
2 oz sample. Clear amber-orange pour. Aroma is weird, very boozy, funky apple notes, rotten apples, light oak?, woody, spicy, boozy aromas. Taste is kind of harsh, spicy and boozy with low sweetness, mineral. Palate is med-full bodied with a hot boozy finish. Not thick and sweet enough to support the booze, kinda rough.

McClure’s Gold Rush Ice Cider

McClure’s Arkansas Black Ice Cider
Bottle, from b3shine-- thanks Beau! Shared at game night. I’m pretty sure that the name has to do with the apple varietal (black apples), and nothing to do with blackberries. In any case, this has a lovely viscosity and light honey colour expected of the style. Massive fresh tart apple aroma and flavour, very bright, with a dense sticky palate and crisp acidity in the finish. Fantastic ice cider.

McClure’s Gold Rush Ice Cider
2 oz sample. Thanks to SlovakSniper for this one! Clear bright orangey-golden with no head and loads of little legs on the glass. Aroma is rather spicey (oak-like spiciness but also cinnamon) and boozy upfront, slowly giving some place to caramelized apples and vanilla. Taste is sweet - moderately so for an ice cider - and boozier than usual for the style featuring spices (mostly cinnamon), caramelized apples, brown sugar vanilla and mild herbalness. Medium to full body. Still. A bit liquorous mouthfeel. Brown sugar finish with strong-ish alcohol warmth and moderately lingering spiciness. It’s not bad but it lacks the depth to even come close to a top-tier ice cider.

750 ml bottle to stemmed wine glass at McClure’s. Looks solid; a transparent light gold with very soft, fine carbonation and bubbly white lacing that dissipates steadily. Smells of a nice balance of cider and peaches. Tastes like it smells with a mildly tart medium-bodied mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

McClure’s Rad
750 ml bottle to stemmed wine glass at McClure’s. Looks solid; a transparent lighter gold with bubbly lacing. Smells and tastes fairly tart; the crabapple really comes through. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and pleasantly tart. Solid, but I’d like a little more of a presence of the other varietals.

McClure’s Gold Rush Ice Cider

McClure’s Farmhouse
Pours a clear straw golden with a fizzy and quickly dissipating eggshell head that clears to nothing other than stray escaping bubbles in the body. Nose is mostly tart apple with some hints of floral and the lightest tough of rubbery funkiness. Lightly sweet, decently tart. Lighter bodied, fairly active and crisp, dusty with a somewhat leafy dryness on the finish. Refreshing, similar to a dry Riesling or Sauv Blanc.

Cloudy dull gold color. The aroma is more boozy than the average, the mouthfeel as well; some aroma of apples, some glue too. Sweet, not syrupy, it has a sharp level of acidity, flavor of fresh apple juice, followed by a bit of toffee and stewed apples, and a hint of cinnamon.
Nice and boozy drink, but not nearly as good as the Canadian ones.

Hazy golden color. Some apple aroma, but like the other McClure’s Ice Cider this one as well has some glue. Moderately sweet, moderately sour, with apple juice flavor, and a mild bitterness; not too boozy; in the final there is some astringency, unexpected in Ice Ciders, but pleasant.
Nice, but its flavor profile is midway between a good cider and an Ice Cider.

McClure’s Farm n Blue
750 ml bottle to snifter. Looks good; a transparent pale cranberry with thin fizzy head that dissipates into very thin lacing fairly quickly. The head / lacing is nearly white, with a very light pink hue to it. Smells of a nice balance of cider-quality apples and blueberries. Tastes like it smells, but more robust, with a fairly dry, semi-tart medium light-bodied mouthfeel. A good take on the style.

375mL bottle, pours a fairly clear blonde with a few bubbles. Aroma brings out lots of vanilla and honey, with floral notes underneath. Flavour brings out lots of vanilla (maybe from the barrel), along with a touch of wood, flowers and honey. The honey presence is very prominent, not masked by anything else. Wonderfully balanced, with only a slight boozy finish. Excellent.

Tasting at Matt’s; corked bottle
Hazy blond color. Mild and delicate aroma, notes of mead and vanilla, flowery. It doesn’t seem so dry, the mouthfeel is very soft; not much mead flavor per se, but it has a strong presence of Bourbon, a bit woody in the final. The alcohol is a bit noticeable.
Very nice.

Bottle, sent by b3shine (thanks a lot Beau!) and shared with phantomhennes, heavylaevy, and TvM. Lovely deep purple hue, medium to heavy viscosity. Big, juicy blackberry/black current aroma and flavour, sweet honey with undertones of spice and beeswax. Sticky with a jammy sweetness, but the fruit is bright and lends a compulsive drinkability that is dangerous at 12%. Complex and delicious.

Thank you! 375 ml. bottle sampled @ “Dean’s sticky Bomb Shelter” Tasting. Med dark yellow. Nose is sweet syrupy apple, alcohol is there but isn’t overly heavy, fruit carries more of a white sugar, residual sugar quality than actual fruit. Taste is med. syrupy simple apple juice with good amount but not excessively so white sugar, residual sugar, alcohol is clearly there, continues throughout the taste ,… Low tart in the back. Rather sweet but not extremely so. Med. lightly syrupy substantial body. Overall a highly pleasing but also very simple Ice Cider offering. Lacks some complexity compared to some others. Very good still.

Bottle @ Steve_0, thanks to b3shine for the very generous bonus. Pours a golden appearance with no head. Smells like apple juice with a little bit of spice. Not a ton of complexity in the aroma but it smells nice enough. A little gooey. Thick, apple syrup flavor with some cinnamon and vanilla. Gooey. Holy crap was this good. Just a blast of coffee with a nice bodied sweet mead. Ashy, roasty, veering toward smoky even. Absolutely bought a bottle of this one. Really cool beverage. Nice floral honey nose and then lots of bourbon flavor. Well done sipper. Viscous but with a sort of lightness to it that keeps it from going overboard with sweetness or thickness.
