Lamb Black Face
Draft at the brewpub - London. Pours cloudy brown with a creamy tan head. The nose has dirt, burnt leaves, lacto cocoa, some roast. Light sweet flavor with simple dry chocolate, dirt, earthy bitterness, light instant coffee. A little watery. Light bodied with average carbonation. Basic finish as well with further mellow cocoa, faint coffee, toasty brown bread, earth. A bit watery overall. Meh, not offensive.

Lamb Hefeweizen
Keg at the brewpub, December 2013. Citrus, no banana, clean, crisp. But a Hefeweisse should be cloudy, not clear.

Lamb Sneaky Bastard
Cask at the Botanist, deep brown with a thin head, clean hoppy and fruit-toffee nose, nicely balanced with a firm bitterness over marmalade and dark-fruity malt. Excellent, albeit perhaps more of an American-style best bitter than an APA.

Lamb Sheep Dog
Keg at the Lamb, Chiswick, 01/10/13. Clear dark amber with a good sized off white head that retains well. Nose is grass, light hops, orange marmalade, caramel malts. Taste comprises toasted malts, orange sherbet, red grapefruit, caramel, sugars, hint of apricot. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, grassy bitterness in the finish. Lamb beers have got a little better of late. A sessionable APA but lacks hop presence and general tropical goodness to really make it one I’d want to revisit.

Lamb Dark Matter
Keg at the Lamb, Chiswick, 01/10/13. Mid black with a moderate tan covering that stays for the show. Nose is light roast, malty oatmeal tones, earthy, brown sugar, cocoa, metallic whiff. Taste carries more depth comprising chocolate, notes, dark berry fruits, earthy, leather, brown sugars. Medium bodied, a little over prickly but this doesn’t detract too much to spoil it. Far from top of its class but a drinkable enough stout none the less. I’m seeing gradual improvements in this brewery since it opened and understand that the original brewer has moved on.

Lamb Sneaky Bastard
Draft at the Botanist brewpub, Kew on 7 September 2013. Poured a hazy light amber with a medium layer of dense off white head. Aroma of floral hops, satsumas and caramel. Chewy malt flavour with grassy hops and apricot. Palate is orange peal, pine and toffee. Not a bad APA, preferred this offering to most of the Botanist beers.

Lamb Dark Ale
Cask at The Lamb, Chiswick. Chestnut with a thin cream head; malty aroma; soft caramel malt taste; with a dry finish. More of a Mild than a Brown Ale in my opinion, and a plain and simple one at that.

Lamb The Wolf
Keg at te brewpub - Chiswick, London. Pours clear good, nicely effervescent with a fine, creamy white head. The aroma holds sweet dough, hints of cereal and plastic, a bit of yeast, some fruity esters. Medium sweet flavor with mellow booze kick, light bitter toasted hay, dry cereal grains, subtle grass, dry dough. Medium to full in body with average carbonation. Moderately crisp on the finish, some more hay, grass, grains. An atypical trippel. Not really as sugary sweet as I would expect from a standrd trippel - which isn’t an altogether bad thing.

Light to medium sweet flavor, lots of dry and roasty malts, some charred meat, burnt toast, light cocoa, some scorched earth, burnt grass. Light bodied with fine, lightly creamy carbonation. Finishes with lots more charred malts, burnt meat, mellow bitter earth and burnt grass, soft chocolate, touches of tang. It is a fair effort at a stout; not sure where the ’imperial’ comes into play.

Lamb Hefeweizen
Keg at the brewpub - London. Pours lightly hazy yellow with a moderate, creamy white head. Lots of dry pale malts in the nose, dried lemon peel, biscuits, straw, dry grass. Light sweet flavor, lots of super crispy hay and biscuity pale malts, some mellow grassy bitterness. Light bodied with average to high carbonation. Crisp, clean finish, dry dough, hay and straw, some dried cereal grains, dry citrus rind. Almost nothing about this beer says hefeweizen to me. I almost wonder if they have the wrong beer pouring. The beer isn’t bad, mind you; in fact, it’s probably the best Lamb beer I’ve had so far today. I will have to try this one again to see what the deal is.

Lamb Honey Pilsener
Tap at the Lamb Brewery, Chiswick - 20/09/12. Hazy pale blonde with a thin white head that soon dissipates to nothing. Big honey nose, pale malts and sweet candyfloss. Taste follows and is entirely dominated by honey - little balance, no bitterness, imagine drinking an extra honey, honey cordial if such a product existed ! Honey takes over, nothing else is distinguishable. Struggled and infact couldn’t finish my half pint. Rilester who I was with was chatting to the bar man after I left and he suggested there was something not right with this batch and was offered a gratis half of something else. Shouldn’t really have been on sale then if they knew this !
