Great Lakes X Metalman X Garrison Not So Gentle Tickle IPA
Clear amber color with a moderate amount of activity. Slightly creamy beige 2 finger head, lasting around 5-10 minutes, with strong legs. Flavors of grapefruits and tropical fruits, bubblegum, lemony citrus, faint orange and clove, caramel, floral and herbal spices. Balanced sweetness with a sharp bitter feel. Slick and smooth medium body with very well balance crispy carbonation. Medium strength finish that lingers for a while, ending with a sharp fruity grapefruits and citrus feel , and bitter grassy hops, with a pleasant flowery perfume. Overall excellent quality craft. Incredible delicious flavors with lots of complexity and super well balanced. Accessible IPA being just the right intensity. Feels like a cross between an IPA and a Saison. The kind of IPA I would drink all day long.

Garrison Klingon Warnog Roggen
On tap at GCBF 2016, pours a cloudy dark amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out notes of red berries and light biscuity malt. Flavour follows accordingly, with dry red berries, a sort of vinous quality and bready malt. Low residual sweetness. Unusual for the style. Decent.

Garrison Hoppy Buoy American Style IPA
On tap at GCBF 2016, pours a hazy pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out faded floral hops, some earthy notes and biscuity malt - smells anything but west coast style. Flavour is more like a British IPA, with floral hops, biscuity malt and light pine. Clean and drinkable, but pretty boring for the style.

Veiled dark amber color with tons of subtle activity. Creamy beige/orangy 2 finger head, lasting around 15 to 20 minutes, with very good legs. Aromas of fresh flowers and citrus. Flavors of orange, tropical fruits, lemon, pine, caramel, slight ester, floral and herbal spices. Strong grassiness with a burnt sugar feel. Smooth and slick medium body with nice carbonation. Strong and long finish, ending with a harsh spicy piney lingering tongue coat feel. Overall this is a good craft boosting interesting tasty flavors, while overly spicy. Slightly stale, boozy, and missing some freshness. Well balanced though.

341 ml bottle. Clear dark brown pour, brown highlights. Bottle gushed over (as did next one!). Inch thick pillowy tan head rapidly diminishing to persistent ring. Aroma is of sweet treacle, fresh-fallen leaves, fresh bread. Taste is of cola, racinette, followed by a strange mineral water bitterness (not hops). A bit odd as a beer, but labelled as a hard (dry) root beer this might have rated higher!

Appearance: hazy pale gold with one fat finger of creamy white head, excellent retention and patchy lacing. (4/5) Aroma: banana, cloves, pepper, wheat. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, mild bitter. (7/10) Medium-light body, moderate carbonation, off-dry lightly spicy finish. (3/5) Thatís actually quite pleasant. A very authentic Hefeweizen that was pouring fairly transparent until I did the little ďhefe swirlĒ near the end to pick up the yeast, and the colour developed appropriately. Typical banana and cloves on the front end, with an off-dry, slightly peppery finish. Straightforward implementation of a light-ish, pleasant style. Exciting? Nope. Refreshing? Yup. (14/20)

Pretty astringent almost sour aroma, but the rest of this beer makes it so that really doesnít matter.silky smooth, malty, very drinkable in a way that belies its 9.5% abv. Be careful with this one. Definitely a beer for malt lovers.

Growler. Straw yellow in colour with a bit of haze and moderate carbonation. Aromas are of Meyer lemon, lemongrass, and cream of wheat breakfast cereal. Fruity and herbal on the palate, with notes of lemon, coriander, marjoram, and malted wheat. Light bodied. Less spicy than some in this style, which is a good thing in my book.

Appearance: clear medium to deep amber with one finger of medium-dense light beige head diminishing gradually to a thin cap, no lacing. (3/5) Aroma: caramel/toffee, dark fruit, banana, clove, light rye. (6/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, mild bitter. (6/10) Medium body, moderate carbonation, short duration mildly bitter and slightly spicy/tart finish. (3/5) Dunno what makes this Klingon - thereís no bite, and no smoke. Next thing youíll be telling me itís not even made with the blood of my enemies! OK, cheesy marketing ploys aside, this is a pretty mediocre Roggen: thereís very little rye in this at all, coming through late and mild. On the front end, itís somewhat too sweet for my preference, and overall it just seems like a mishmash of unrelated flavours. Easy-drinking, but just not very exciting. (12/20)
