Madison Black Lager 3.5
Didnít really think this was a Schwarzbier but figured it was the closest probable style fitting for this beer according to ratebeer suggested styles. On tap at the brewpub, this was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy dark brown close to black color with a thin wisp of white head quickly dissipating. No lacing. The smell had some burnt coffee grinds, light cocoa bean and sweet bready lager malts, more American than German (why I donít think this is a Schwarzbier). The taste had some great roasty to sweet bready to coffee grinds effect all around. Quick semi-bready aftertaste. Light smooth dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs smooth. Overall, though not really a Schwarzbier, still good for the most part. I could come back to this.

Madison Downtown IPA 4
On tap at Madison Brewpub. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a glossy/hazy burnt orange color. Light lacing after a quickly dissipating little head. The smell took on a light sweet to bitter orange to lemon bitter rind. Light emblazoned sweet citrus runs in underneath. The taste was semi-sweet with a light sweet malty flavor riding in on the aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body. Great sesionability. Overall,Iíd say this was great, Iíd have again.

Madison Wassickís White Wall 3.6
On tap at brewpub. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy golden orange color with a slim bar pourís kind of head. Barely any lacing. The smell had some sweet cracker to light lemon sweetness. Lighter in the wheat and coriander than expected. The taste was mainly malty sweet with a nice slight spice of the coriander blending in to accompany a nice aftertaste. Smooth finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a great sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light. Overall, I say this was a really nice witbier that I would have again.

Madison Project Pale Ale 3.8
On tap at the brewpub. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy golden orange color with a bar pourís kind of slim white head. The smell had some sweet citrus to sweet maltiness in front. Allows a nice eloquent bitterness underneath. The taste was mainly the same with a sweet dry aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light allowing the maltiness to cling to my tongue nicely. Overall, I say this was a pretty good American Pale Ale that I could have again.

Madison NorBeaster Chocolate Imperial Stout 3.7
On tap at the brewpub. This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a nice looking dark brown close to black color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. The smell had some light roasty coffee a bit rugged and grainy. Chocolate is light. Coffee is slightly more pronounced. The flavor is basically the same as the smell. Definitely that rugged almost burnt coffee bean aftertaste. Semi-dry smooth finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt good and low. Overall, good Imperial Stout for the most part, could come back to.

Madison Sucker Pond Blonde 4
Served in a pint glass. The appearance was a hazy yellow color with a bar pourís kind of slim white head that left no lacing. The smell had some sweet wheat, lemon juice sweetness, and a modified pine bitterness underneath. The taste was sweet mainly through the wheat and lemon . Combined sweet to bitter aftertaste. Wet smooth crisp sweet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fantastic sessionability about it. Carbonation runs smooth and light. Overall, I didnít really see this as a kolsch but a fantastic Blonde ale that I would have again.

Madison Ju-c 4
On tap at the brewpub. This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a hazy glossy burnt yellow to orange color with a slim bar pourís kind of white head. Light lacing runs here and there. The smell takes on a huge burst of bitter orange rind. Extra citrus / lemon bitter hops play with a light pine underneath. The taste leaned towards the bitter rind-like quality. Full and leaning on the bitterness to embrace and pound on into the aftertaste. Semi-smooth bitter finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light allowing the bitterness to hit appropriately. Overall, I say this was a very good DIPA that I would have again.

Madison Hopback IPA 3.4
Draft. This is a classic, old school, throwback, 1990s PNW IPA. Faint aroma of citrus and pine that get huge as you drink it. Lots of bittersweet. Well done.

Madison Old 76 Strong Ale 3.9
On tap at the brewpub. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking transparent burnt red color. Carbonation could be seen rising to fill a thin bar pourís kind of head. Lacing was stringy and spotty. The smell starts off with some cherry to apple - like sweet fruitiness. Light tobacco rounds it out. Dried woodiness here and there. The taste was mainly sweet through the fruits. Tobacco and woody edges lead into the background. Dry sweet fruity aftertaste leads into a quick dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs light. Overall, this was a pretty good English Strong ale that I would have again.

Madison Burnt 3.8
On tap at the brewpub. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking somewhat dark hazy yet transparent brown color with some carbonation rising to fill a slim bar pourís kind of head. Lacing slid in some semi-clingy rings. The smell starts off with some dried sweet nuts. Light caramel notes slide in underneath dried hemp (comes across spicy). The taste had dried sweet palatable flavor over top of the hemp, spicy once again. Light semi-sweet nutty to spicy character in the aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation seemed good for the style and for me. Overall, Iíd say this was a pretty good American styled brown ale that I would have again.

Madison Breakfast Porter 3.7
On tap at the brewpub. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy dark brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some light ringy to semi-messy lacing all around. The smell started off with a sharp sweet to bready muffin - like aroma taking in some blueberries to run over sweet and roasty coffee and chocolate beans. Somehow, it reminds me of Founderís Breakfast Stout with someone crumbling blueberry muffins into it. The taste was more Porter leaning as subtle roasty coffee and cocoa flavors become more pronounced over some light sweet blueberry as it warms. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly low allowing slight stickiness but not overbearing. Overall, I say this was a pretty good Porter with a nice blueberry muffin sort of thing going on. Iíd have again.

Madison Fresh Cut Pale Ale 3.7
This was poured into a pint glass on tap at the brewpub. The appearance was a hazy burnt orange color with a thin white layer of foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. The smell started off with sweet orange pulp leading into a semi-sweet dry sticky resin to bitter spruce. Somewhat reminds me of Christmas tree. The taste was mainly sprucy / resin sweet with a nice juicy sweet background of the hops bursting into dry sweet malts. A light sweet sticky citrus runs into the aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed good for the style and for me. Semi-smooth transition all around. Overall, APA, sure fits and with the spruce, hell yeah, perfect for the season!

Madison Irish Red 3.6
On tap at the brewpub, this was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy to transparent burnt red color. Bar pourís slim white head dissipates pretty quickly. Ringy lacing clings to the glass. The smell starts off with rich sweet caramel malts up front allowing gentle roasty nuts and toffee to balance. Light toast as well. The taste was mainly sweet with a moderate toast and roastiness balancing it all out. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs nice and low. Sweetness comes across dry on my tongue. Overall, I say this was a pretty good Irish Red ale.

Growler from pub: pours brownish red with off white head. Aroma is a bit of toffee and earthiness. Taste was unimpressive. I didnít think it was gross like others here, but I was still unimpressed.

Madison Octoberfest 3
The beer looks decent with a nice mellow brown color that passes some light through it, a nice foam ring and some lacing on the glass. The beer smells average with a mild sweetness of caramel and malts but not much else. The taste is average with a blend of malts and toffee that gives away to a heavy boozy flavor. The mouthfeel is average as the beer is decently carbonated but has a heavy boozy/medicine mouthfeel. Overall, a subpar Marzen that seems a little cheaply made.

The beer smells decent with a nice blend of lemon/orange citrus, mild clove and corriander, and a wheat finish. The taste is great with a nice mild sweet orange and clove that gives away to a nice wheat finish. The mouthfeel is decent as the beer is decently carbonated and leaves you with a mild sweetness. Overall, the best beer I had from them and a decent White Ale.

Madison Old 76 Strong Ale 3.1
The beer has a decent appearance a nice deep medium bodied brown color that passes through some light but not a lot. The beer has a mild head to it with very little lacing on the glass. The beer smell is average and has a mild maltiness to it with a dark fruit undertone (cherries or currants) that is very mild. The taste is average with a mild sweetness from the fruity syrup (very obvious syrup) taste with a somewhat bready, boozy finish. The mouhfeel is decent with a lingering bitter boozy feel and the beer is decently carbonated. Overalll, another average beer that doesnít pop at all.

Madison Willoughbys Scottish Ale 3.4
The beer has a decent reddish brown color to it that passes some light through it, has a mild white foam ring and some lacing on the glass. The smell is average with an obvious caramel and brown sugar smell and some of the dark fruit on the back end. The taste is decent that moves hard in with a boozy, sweet taste to it (almost bourbon barrel) that fades away slowly. The mouthfeel is average as it almost feels boozy and bitter. Overall, the beer is decent, not the best scotch ale I have ever had but not the worst.
