From a growler compliments of jcwattsrugger. Light amber pour. Nice bready malt and more notable floral aroma. Like roses. Light to medium body. Well balanced breaded malt and hop taste.

AirForceHops
Confluence Takedown Irish Stout 3.3
(From notes) Draft at The Iowa Taproom, 3-16-2016. Typical color. Aroma is char, old coffee beans, chocolate. Flavor follows with a touch of molasses. Weak roast. Texture is indeed dry.

Medium in body with a smooth mouthfeel. (on nitro). Overall nothing earth shattering but it is to style and crafted well.

Confluence Barrel Aged Rock Dodger Double IPA 3.6
(From notes) Draft at the brewery, 3-16-2016. Reviewing my notes I realized how great of a time we had at this brewery! Clear in color amber/ orange color. Aroma shows a good amount of rum with moderate citrus hops. Flavor shows citrus and pine hops balanced by a strong rum barrel treatment. Bitterness is low.

Medium in body with a slap of boozy rum in the finish. With this much rum influence I had to drink the sample slowly. Good balance but this is a sipper for sure.

Confluence Barrel Aged Wee Heaven 3.7
(From notes) Draft at the brewery, 3-16-2016. Mostly clear red with no head. Aroma is mostly all bourbon. Canít get much other than lingering bourbon. Flavor has raisins, figs and scotch malts underneath a large barrel character. The alcohol provides a mild warming after the swallow. Bourbon cuts any sweetness that was from the base beer.

If you like a heavy bourbon influence this will be highly enjoyable. This is bold and almost completely oak and whiskey / bourbon flavors.

AirForceHops
Confluence Fresh Start Pale Lager 3.2
(From notes) Draft at the brewery, 3-16-2016. Crystal clear gold color that looks like urine. Aroma is light lager yeast, grassy hops, grain. Flavor shows mild hop profile is mild, light grass, good amount of yeast. Backbone has a lot of caramel. I see what the brewer was going for (a hoppy lager) But the thinner body and weak hop profile doesnít make this anything like you will find with Jacks Abby in Massachusetts.

Very drinkable without any problems. Just a little adjustments and this will be awesome.

AirForceHops
Confluence Des Moines IPA 3.7
(From notes) Draft The brewery, 3-16-2016. Aroma is mild pine, moderate citrus, grain. Flavor shows substantial hops profile: citrus intermingled with pine and grass. Decent grain backbone that is not too sweet. Body is medium with a lingering bitterness. Pretty balanced, nicely drinkable.

Confluence Anniversary Porter 4
750mL bottle shared by AirForceHops on 3/26/16.
Fantastic appearance. We opened the bottle Saturday and I was still drinking this thing I think by the following Thursday with the bottle sitting out, uncapped, warm. It still poured a solid tan head, with an ebony body and strong retention.
Warm oatmeal cookies backed by a good brace of bitter chocolate, dry coffee and light prunes. Very complex, with caramel-vanilla in the background, balancing the varied grains, chocolates, fudges, roasts and fruits. Definitely a kitchen sink beer, but itís not messy or unfocused. Very clean, in fact, with fresh yeast and plaster-like notes on the end, as well.
As expected, a complex, roasty, yet malty body with vanilla, oatmeal, cookies, bitter chocolate and soft fudge. Toffee and treacle help balance the sweetness. Wonderful texture, nicely malty, with very tight, natural carbonation and no alcohol or flaw.

Confluence Anniversary Porter 3.8
750 ml bottle, purchased at the brewery. Pitch black with full lasting head. Aroma has cocoa powders, notes of coffee and cream. Dry roasted malt.

The flavor has a large backbone of earthy chocolate malts with a dry roasted malt texture. The body feels bigger then the gravity may suggest. This was the 2015 edition and bottled in July of that year, so no hops exist. The coffee and cram note are also found through the sip. This is very nicely made.

Confluence Milk Man Milk Stout 3.7
Draft at Iowa Taproom, De Monies. 3-16-2016,from notes. This was part of a second or third sample flight at Iowa Taproom, what a marathon of beer! Aroma is melted chocolate, sugar, light roasted grain.

Flavors of milk chocolate, sweet grains and moderate coffee traces. The finish is chocolatey with a mild bitterness left behind. Mouthfeel is creamy with mild lactose sweetness. Overall a well-executed sweet stout that is not overly sweet, nice coffee element and is yet another solid offering from this brewer.

Confluence Takedown Irish Stout 3.6
1qt mini growler from Urbandale Hy-Vee, in a Sam Smith pint glass. Aroma of sweet malted milk and caramel with fainter traces of roast coffee and dark chocolate. Pours oily black with huge bubbly ivory head that dissipates rapidly, which is the #1 thing that clues me into it not being Guinness. Moderate lacing, no effervescence on the glass. Lightly roasty and malty with a mild fruity, maybe even tomato-like sweetness. Very well balanced without any particular flavor element dominating or overpowering the others. Full-bodied and almost as creamy as Guinness, lightly mouthcoating with respectable carbonation making for very easy drinking. A respectable beverage for St. Patrickís Day. Not quite as good as Guinness in terms of visual appeal (lacing), creamy mouthfeel or flavor intensity, but still a good beer. Slainte!

Confluence Imogene Red 3.6
1qt mini growler from Urbandale Hy-Vee, in a Sam Smith pint glass. Subdued aroma of cracker bread, caramel, honey and banana. Pours a cloudy, rusty red with a thin bubbly head and effervescence exploding churning and roiling everywhere. Real pop on this one, very much like Coca Cola. Very pretty in the glass. Crisp clean acidity up front followed by dry biscuit and sweet malt with just a hint of ripe banana sweetness and gentle hop bitterness on the finish. Light to medium body, great acidity and effervescence keeping things fresh and light. My least favorite thing in the world might be flat, stale English beer. I was initially put off by the aromatic qualities of this one, probably based on bad experiences in the past with stale Smithwickís and Killianís bottles in sketchy watering holes, so it came as a tremendous relief to find the flavor profile so light and fresh and approachable. Probably the best beer of this style Iíve had to date, which admittedly isnít saying much. Hats off once again to Confluenceís talented brewers!
