Betchard Blonde 3.5
At Bierfestival Dijleschuimers. Pours rather clear blonde. Smell is bit sweet, grainy, some yeast with its typical fruityness. Fresh, for sure. Rather high carbo, and a decent MF.

Betchard Brune 4.2

7/IV/15 - 33cl bottle from De Zytholoog/Bierloods (Adegem) @ home - BB: 26/III/11 (2015-422)

Clear reddish brown beer, small aery irregular beige head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of dried fruits, orange peel, bit metallic, some chocolate malt, caramel. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sourish, malty, caramel, some chocolate, soft bitterness, obviously some oxidation, but this beer has aged very well. Aftertaste: bit spicy, some caramel, metallic touch, dried fruits, hint of banana, some chocolate, nice one!!

Alengrin
Betchard Blonde 2.7
Tasted at Heeren van Liedekercke in the Tubize version, but apparently first brewed at the ’Proef’brouwerij. Sticky, off-white, stable head, colour a dirty ochre blonde. Yeasty and bready aroma with green apple, orange zest, sweat, old cheese and - less appealing of all - clear H2S (rotten egg). Simple taste of restricted fruitiness, bready, light orange touch, bit powdery mouthfeel, finishing in a mild grassy hoppiness but not enough so to balance and therefore a bit watery. Totally unnecessary and even flawed beer, I hope they’ll come up with something better than this.

11/III/14 - 33cl bottle from ??? @ home - BB: 12/XII/14 (2014-275)

Little cloudy red brown beer, big beige creamy head, little stable, bit adhesive. aroma: very floral, sugary, bit soapy, spices. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty spicy, soapy bitterness, floral, bit chemical, unpleasant bitterness. Aftertaste: pretty bitter, somewhat chemical, bit sour. I’d guess this got infected.

Betchard Blonde 3
Overall mooi lekker correct bier.

Blonde légèrement trouble, effervescence moyenne, col fin peu persistant.

1/VII/13 - 33cl bottle from Délice & Caprice (Brussel) @ home - BB: 5/II/15 (2013-592)

Little cloudy yellow beer, big creamy irregular head, pretty stable, little adhesive. Aroma: citrus, bit metallic, hint of banana, actually quite a lot of banana on warming up. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: little sourish, citric, bitter hops, pretty refreshing. Aftertaste: orange marmalade, citrus, grassy, bitter ending with a bit of sour. Pretty good wit, I liked it!

La Forgeronne 3.6
Small rim over fully hazy orange-amber beer with a mossy sheen. End of bottle solid yeast. Very nice aromatic nose with fresh garden herbs/ weeds or blossoms, ripening fruit, and just a hint at lactic acid, aside the fruitacids. Faint wet dog. Dry-bitterish, again faintly flowery/fruity flavour. Hint of olives -Brett à la Orval? - or unripe banana. Finish is slightly empty, the spritzy carbonation filling in. Medium bodied at best. Surprise! This is definitely a good one, and that for a start. Moreover, the label artwork ranks amongst the best seen in the last few years. Congrats!

La Forgeronne 3.3
bouteille 33cl, BB 12/12/2014.

Thanks to Markus for sending this. It was a great example of the wit style. While I don’t go out of my way to chase Rare it makes me want to schedule a trip to Europe so I can try more like it. There’s only so many quads, imperial stouts, and other huge styles my palate can take in a day.

Aroma / Appearance - The cloudy golden body was beautiful to look at. The carbonation was very active like a sparkling champagne. The head takes a few minutes to settle down to a point that is drinkable. Orange zest, yeast, and lemon provide a dry texture to the air.

Flavor / Palate - The bubbly mouthfeel is very bright and active. It actually tastes a bit like orange soda water with a dash of lemon. Light and pleasant this is the sort of beer you can drink a few of without wearing down the palate too much. Once again thanks to Markus.

Betchard Brune 4
(Bottled, BBE 08/2012) Hazy dark ruby with a medium, firm and tanned head. Aroma of caramely malt, dried fruit, burned sugar. Gets more complexity as it warms. Flavor is mildly tart, with Oud Bruin/oatmeal -type sourness, caramely maltiness, light roastiness, dried fruit, some anise. Medium+ body, quite soft, medium CO2. A very enjoyable brew, which reminds me of Oerbier, but as slightly less complex and vinous version. 4356

33cl bottle. Yellow / orange with low to medium white head. Nose : yeast , wet laundry, banana, citrus, spices, cake. Sip : Creamy brew with low carbonation. Sweet and little dry. Develops well hopped bitterness on the end. It’s not strong , still is an honest one. Overall it’s a refreshing and easy to swallow liquid with a well balanced flavors. My choice for a refreshing drink in the garden.

Blanche de Tubize 3
33cl bottle, apparently still brewed at DeProef given that the Tubize brewery has been flooded twice over the past few years.
