Flygirl45	3 Gunpowder Falls Dunkel Not the typical Dunkel I am use to. Almost tastes, smells, looks like a brown ale with the caramel and/or roasted flavors. Seemed a little flat. It ended flat with with a little sour to it. Definitely a different taste on the palate. Maybe more carbination or fizz may help. I love a good Dunkel, but something is missing. I love Gundpowder, especially their Pilsner. But this needs a little more work. Keep it up fellows! I will always support my local breweries! 😘 Sunday, August 13, 2017

joejames	3.4 Gunpowder Falls Dunkel On draft at the brewery, served in a 20oz. pilsner glass. Pours ruby red/brown, 2 finger off white head. Some lacing and retention. Aroma of toffee. Taste is malty sweet, just enough earthy bitterness to balance. Light bodied, soft carbonation, silky mouth feel. Finishes dry. Tasting notes of caramel, toffee, grass and herbs. Slight dark chocolate aroma. Taste is medium sweet, balanced, only real bitterness coming from the dark malts. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, slick mouth feel. Finishes slightly sweet. Nice lacing and good small cap retention. Aroma of grass with floral notes. Taste is very balanced, medium sweetness and just a touch of earthy bitterness. Light bodied, moderate carbonation, creamy mouth feel. Finishes dry. Tasting notes of honey, toasted light malt, wildflowers and grass. A very nice, drinkable authentically brewed Heller Bock. Taste is pretty balanced crisp bitter and light sweet malts. Light to medium bodied, lively carbonation, crisp mouth feel. Finishes dry, mildly bitter with notes of skunk, straw and flowery herbs. DrSilverworm	2.8 Gunpowder Falls Pilsner 12oz bottle, purchased today from Perfect Pour. Mostly clear golden orange color. Thin ring of white head. Dots of lace. Medium body. Smooth, kind of soft, crisp, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Kind of a straw, metallic taste to it. Some decent biscuity malt. Moderate bigger bitter taste for a pils, light sweet. OK pils. Kind of soft and metallic, bit of a macro cheap feel to it. Not great. Gets a bit better as it goes, but nothing complex, inspired, nor outstanding to this. Friday, May 23, 2014
DrSilverworm	1.9 Gunpowder Falls Dunkel 12oz bottle, purchased today from Perfect Pour. Served a little warmer than I intended. Luckily this is German-style, and that’s the way the Germans like it. Kind of a high fill on the bottle. Clear red color. Thin khaki head. Couple dots and bits of lace. Smooth, soft, light to moderate carbonation. More dry finish. Some dark fruit, light toastiness, light spicy. Moderate bitter, spicy taste, light sweet. Some chocolate notes, toastiness, bit of dark fruit, metallic. Oxidized taste. Sort of a soft, cheap macro feel to this. Doesn’t have a very good body. Not a fan of this. A cheap-tasting dunkel. Craft can do better. At least date your bottles... Poured this one out and moved on Friday, May 23, 2014

Nose is interesting, spice, clove, candy sugar, a little bread, caramel, mulling spices, fruit cake, dried cherry, a little cotton candy. Elwood	3.8 Gunpowder Falls Pilsner Serving: 12 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a hazy gold with a large, pillowy white head. Nice retention and lacing. A good looking beer if nothing else. The nose is slightly floral and grassy with a hint of grain. The flavor is well balanced with a hint of malt, grain, and noble hops. The slight grainy sweetness up front gives way to a nice noble hop bitterness on the back end. Medium bodied with a slightly oily mouthfeel giving way to a slightly crisp finish. ben4321	3.2 Gunpowder Falls Dunkel Location: 12 oz bottle from State Line, 2/15/13 Aroma: The nose of this beer is sweet and malty, with some toffee, caramel, nuts, and bread Appearance: It pours a mahogany color with a small beige head and some spotty lace Flavor: This beer is quite sweet, there’s some other components too, but the sweetness overrides Palate: The body is light-medium, it has a soft-to-average carbonation, and a decent feel overall Overall Impression: These guys must be really new and minimally distributed, as I’m now the 2nd rater of each of their beers, and the first person to rate either of their beers that’s didn’t just join and rate the same day, and then not rate anything since (which is about 45 days later as of today). ben4321	3.3 Gunpowder Falls Pilsner Location: 12 oz bottle from State Line, 1/30/13 Aroma: The nose has some pale malts, white bread/biscuit, spice, grassy hops, and some earth Appearance: A bright gold colored beer with a thin, quickly dissipating head and light lace spots Flavor: The flavor is clean and malty, more bready than sweet, with some earthy hop bitterness Palate: The body is light, crisp, and clean, it does drink a little watery, and has light dryness Overall Impression: I thought this was a decent example of the style. The early malt profile works nicely, but it gets a little more muddled in the later part of the palate. Ultimately, for what appears to be a brand new brewery, this is a plenty solid first offering.
